Liverpool vs Manchester City
Liverpool, were clearly having one fine season...and 2 fantastic signings in January, would come in and to try and solidify The reds' place at the top of the premiership. However, their performances, and more so the entire teams performances...were not what Rodgers was expecting. Liverpool would Play Manchester City, in their next game...and it was anyone's game.
Liverpool took the lead on 12 minutes through midfielder Jordan Henderson. Steven Gerrard whipped in the ball from a corner, earned just a few seconds earlier. The ball was headed out, but not far enough has Henderson controlled the ball, an put it onto his right while managing to take on Fernandinho, He then struck the ball as hard as he ever has and rifled the ball into the top corner.
On 29 minutes, City would level through Edin Dzeko, the striker was played in for a one on one opportunity, against Mignolet...and sure enough, he found the back of the net by passing it hard and low into the right bottom corner.
The two teams didn't stay level for very long. Just three minutes after Dzeko's superb finish, Ivan Rakitic managed to get himself on the score sheet from a free kick on the edge of the box. He took his chance brilliantly curling the ball around the right side of the wall and into the top corner. A great goal, to hopefully seal a great and memorable win.
Well, it seemed that not only was City's defense leaky today, but also...Liverpool's. New signing Andre Ayew wasn't hesitant on taking his chances, when put in through on goal with a fine lobbed ball from Yaya Toure. He touched the ball down and with one deft chip of the ball...lobbed Mignolet, making a mockery out of the entire Liverpool Defense. Not that, that is hard...
Winger David Silva, n 70 minutes...would ultimately win the game for the citizens. A shot from Nasri was parried away by keeper Mignolet, but the ball only went as far as Johnson, who somehow managed to pass it straight to Silva, who made no mistake in poaching the empty net. the score was now 3-2.
Glenn Johnson's poor mistake was now about to lead to another, and make this day one of the worst in his footballing career. The long ball from Yaya Toure came in, and Johnson looked to have it covered. He watched the ball all the way down, but as Mignolet went to run out he couldn't get back onto his line in time for Johnson's header. Johnson managed to lob Mignolet and Mignolet managed to get lobbed twice in one game. The right back saw it all the way, but he couldn't spot Mignolet off his line. A school boy error.
The game ended 4-2, and it seemed like a taste of their own medicine for Liverpool, considering their fantastic 4-2 win at the Etihad, early on in the season.

What an absolute monstrosity, we were diabolical this month, and I am NOT HAPPY! All of our fine form and hard work has been for nothing! Thankfully we remain in the top 4 in 3rd place, but we have conceded top spot to United, and that is not acceptable. Surrender to the enemy is not an option. Ever. We have ruined our chances of winning the title now, we can get top four, with ease. But even if we won all of our remaining games, the title would still be unrealistic. The players only have themselves to blame.
