James: I have quite a number of targets James, but obviously I can't bring in everyone I want. The remainder of the summer transfer window will include just the one signing, despite my league finish, money is still tight but I believe the signing will help take us to the top. And thank you mate. Where I am now is still not good enough. I won't rest until we are winning PL's, UCL's and going unbeaten in seasons once more:P
Yarmolenko it's a very good signing mate! he really impressed in my career!
New signing announced days before Celtic game
Liverpool Football club, this evening revealed their new signing as English right winger, Oxlade Chamberlain. The Ox has been brought into the club for a fee said to be around the 18 million pound mark, but given how cheap they Yarmolenko, these reports could well be false.
Rodgers did reveal that another good signing would be made before the reds' first pre season game against Celtic, and the manager has stuck to his word. It seems he wants to intergrate his new players into the team as fast as possible.
The contract given to the Ox is a reported four year deal, with him on a weekly wage of just 65K a week. Pretty cheap for a former Arsenal player.
Both managers have had their say on the deal, and even the player has given us his thoughts, we understand that he is "Happy with the deal, and he can't wait to pull on the famous red jersey." Brendan Rodgers said to us;
"I am over the moon to complete this signing. I think it will be a real indicator to our determination to go as far as winning the title this year...and many years to come. I want to take this club to the top and I believe that along with the likes of Suarez, Sakho, and Yarmolenko...Alex can certainly help get us on our way there."
When asked; 'Do you feel selling Oxlade, to a rival was a bad move' Arsenal manager responded with this;
"No, not at all. Alex has bags of potential, and I hope he does well at Liverpool, he wasn't getting game time here and he wanted to move. Which is obviously fair enough. I like the lad and could not keep him against his will. He will join Liverpool at a time where they are on their way back to the glory days and I am glad he will be apart of that because he deserves it. He has put so much hard work into his career. But to conclude, I do not think it was a bad idea, there are many replacements out there, and we still have many, many top quality players here."
Chamberlain has made 52 appearances for Arsenal over the course of his time there, scoring just 4 goals. He made 11 last year only scoring 1. He has even made 25 appearances for his country, England, scoring 3 goals.
His stats at Arsenal don't exactly prove his worth of 18 million pounds, so this could be a huge gamble for Rodgers, but many of his signings have paid off in the past. Grenier, Rakitic, Coutinho. Need we mention Sturridge? We at BTSport think this is a terrific signing for Liverpool, and we wish the player and the team all the best of luck.
Another very good signing mate!
Chamberlan is a beast, he will be a great player for Liverpool
Very good signing mate!
"Get ready for the fireworks!"
Just days before Liverpool's first pre-season game, Brendan Rodgers has come out stating his Liverpool side can win the premier league this season. In a press conference this morning we asked him a number of questions including how he thought Liverpool would do this season. He said; 'I think everyone has to be realistic and acknowledge that it is going to be tough for us' before saying; 'But I believe my team can win the title. We were brilliant last season and we'll be even better this season. Alex and Andriy will help fire us to the title, I am sure.' So he clearly has confidence in his teams ability but what did he think of other threats from around the division?
'As for other teams in the league, I think each and every team going for top for...for example City, Chelsea, United and Arsenal, will be well, WELL up for it definitely and that is what will make the Premier League so unpredictable once again. There are also 15 more teams in the league, and each and every one will put up a fight. If your in the Premier League it is because you are good enough, and the other 15 teams are good enough.'
Pre season review
Liverpool 0-0 Celtic
Leicester 1-3 Liverpool
Bayer Leverkusen 2-0 Liverpool
Liverpool 3-2 Fulham
Liverpool 1-1 Aston Villa
Leicester 1-3 Liverpool
Bayer Leverkusen 2-0 Liverpool
Liverpool 3-2 Fulham
Liverpool 1-1 Aston Villa
So a two wins, a loss and 2 draws in our 2014/13 pre season games. I wouldn't say that is too shabby. A draw to Celtic isn't as disappointing as it may first seem, Celtic are a good side and I think it is a good result. Wins against Leicester, and Fulham are also two good results. I wanted to test my side out against premier league sides before we started the season and we pretty average, with a win against Fulham and a draw to Villa, but not to worry, there is still much work to be done before the start of the season. A loss to Bayer is quite frustrating. We are in the Champions league this year and performances like that must improve.
In conclusion to this pre-season, I thought we were okay, it was mostly the younger players that featured in the games so I can't wait until I have my full strength team out! We will take the Premier League by storm this year...I just have that gut feeling.
