TEVEZ PROMISES IMPROVEMENT
Juventus striker Carlos Tevez has vowed to show he has the capability to play in the Serie A after a poor start to the season for his club.
The Argentine has had a rocky start to life at Juve but is keen to impress from now until the end of the season and prove many doubters wrong.
Tevez has only scored one goal since his £10 million arrival from Manchester City, that goal being the winner in Juventus’ 1-0 victory over Bayern Munich at the Allianz Arena in the UEFA Champions’ League.
The 29 year old has now declared that he has all the confidence to excel in the colours of Juve, speaking to a local radio station in his native Argentina.
“It’s been a difficult period for me so far but I’m sure things will soon go my way at Juventus. The fans can see I’m giving my best so it should be only a matter of time before I start scoring consistently.
“I'm not used to this kind of situation which is why I have been misfiring for a while but I’m confident I’ll overcome this spell soon.”
Futhermore, the 29 year old has lost his spot in the side to Fernando Llorente and compatriot Luciano Vietto.
Vietto has scored a sensational 16 goals in 18 games since his £6 million move from Racing Club whereas Tevez has only managed 1 goal in 13 starts.
However, Tevez insists 20 year old Vietto’s arrival has not cast doubts over his future at the club and that if anything; it has given him the opportunity to ease himself in.
“I think it’s great that Vietto has burst onto the scene but I don’t feel it has in any way affected my integration into Conte’s team.
“I'm delighted Vietto has started well and the fact that we are doing so well and he is getting the goals lifts the pressure off me. If he weren’t scoring, I’d have to answer plenty more questions.”
Tevez has subsequently been linked with a move back to his former club Boca Juniors in January, with another former club in Corinthians also thought to be interested, but he has denied wanting a move.
“Boca and Corinthians are two clubs very close to my heart and I’d love to represent them again sometime in the future but I’m happy where I am.
“Everyone that knows me well will know that I’m not a quitter so I will remain here at Juve as long as I’m wanted because I feel I have a point to prove still.”
