January 2015: Keep Rolling

Some great results in here; in a month where we played some tough games, and came through relatively unscathed, and, after a season and a half of trying, we've made it to our first final!

Table and Competitions
Premier League

I think winning the league is beyond us, yet again, but we're in a strong position to mount a challenge for European Football!

Capital One Cup

In theory, this should be a trophy sewn up, but if there's one thing i've learnt, it's not to underestimate an opponent!

FA Cup - Fifth Round

Another simple-looking fixture to see us through in the FA Cup and keep our form going

Overall, i'm delighted with the way we're going right now!

Some really good results there, including the Arsenal match - can't have been easy being down to 10 men for so long, but you managed to get the win. Hopefully you can push on and try and get a place in that top four. Newcastle are doing crazy good too :O

February 2015: Onwards

A great month for us, as we put in some great performances in the league, and progressed safely to the next round of the FA Cup...Just a short update this time, as the Capital One Cup Final is our next match, so i'll be writing an in-depth update for that!

We're closing the gap at the top, sitting in a European Qualification spot as it stands; which i'm delighted about

FA Cup - 6th Round

Next Up: The Capital One Cup Final v Wigan!
Liverpool v Wigan Athletic: Wembley Stadium

Buildup
Wigan and Liverpool head into today's Capital One Cup Final at very different points in their seasons. Liverpool have fought their way to fourth, and look set for European Qualification under Rick Smalling and his Home-Grown Philosophy.
Wigan, however, are currently 17th, with only one win in their last 5 games, but Liverpool are aware they cannot underestimate anybody at this stage, with Midfield starlet Jordan Rossiter saying "despite their current form, Wigan are still a great side, and we need to take them just as seriously as we've taken anybody else this season, or they'll make us pay."
Liverpool beat Yeovil, West Ham, Swansea, Man City, and Arsenal to book their place in the final, while Wigan defeated Nottingham Forest, Reading, Chelsea, Aston Villa, and Huddersfield to meet them.

First Half
The game started slowly, both teams with some half-attempts at attacks, as they sounded each other out. The first real chance fell Liverpool's way after 15 minutes, when Pedro Chirivella played a beautiful long ball through the Wigan defence which fell to Fabio Borini, who rattled his shot against the goalkeeper.
Liverpool broke the deadlock on 22 minutes, with Borini powering a header past the Wigan goalkeeper from Lucas' corner. Liverpool continued to press, and John Flanagan went close with an ambitious 30 yard effort on 28 minutes.
The last 15 minutes of the half were uneventful, and Liverpool went in 1-0 up

Liverpool rang the changes at half time, as Suarez replaced Sturridge, who had looked out of sorts in the first half, and club captain Steven Gerrard replaced Joe Allen, who looked to have taken a knock.
- - -
Second Half
The second half was uneventful, with Liverpool keeping the ball well, and stifling Wigan's attacks. Nobody looked more relieved than Rick Smalling and his players when the final whistle blew, and Wembley erupted!

Great months, shame about the West Ham loss, but at least you've finally broken into that top four. Congrats on winning the COC too.

Season Run-in - 2014/5

Hey, It's been a while since i've updated this story, so i'm just gonna do a mass update of things like Transfers, Results and Tables, before I get fired into next season!

so...Remaining Fixtures:

The FA Cup semi loss to Man Utd was agonising; they equalised in the 121st minute of Extra Time...We threw away some silly points, and I was tearing my hair out at points!

Final League Table:

We made up for the agony of missing out on European football last season by making sure we were there this time around; Europe will be great experience for the youngsters in the team, and hopefully we will continue as a club

Up Next: Liverpool Kick off Preseason 2015/16, and a shock exit!

Liverpool Officials have confirmed today that fan favourite Luis Suarez has left the club for Monaco, in a move reported to be worth around £18 Million.
The Uruguyan was reportedly far from happy with the clubs failure to qualify for European Football over the last two season, and apparently decided that enough was enough, swapping merseyside for Champions League football with Monaco.

Speaking to the media after his arrival in France, Luis took time to thank the entire team at Liverpool for their support in his 5 years at the club, where he made 126 appearances, scoring 52 goals. He also endorsed Liverpool's current favoured strikers, Daniel Sturridge and Fabio Borini, saying "They are both incredibly talented footballers, with some amazing creative talent behind them...I can see Liverpool doing Very well this season, and look forward to meeting them in Europe in seasons to come!"

The Question on many Liverpool Fans' lips is: With Suarez gone, how long will Coutinho stay? The two were reportedly very good friends, and Coutinho doesn't fit with the Home-Grown Philosophy that Rick Smalling appears to favour with his side...
He's finally gone!! Yes!!!

Lucas Leiva Leaves Liverpool!

Liverpool have today confirmed the departure of Defensive Midfielder Lucas Leiva, in a deal rumoured to be worth in the region of £19 million.

Speaking to the Spanish press, Lucas revealed that he was a great admirer of the work Rick Smalling has done at Liverpool, and would have loved to have stayed, but when a club the size of Real Madrid come knocking, there's not much decision making process involved in saying yes!

Liverpool Start League Campaign

A busy month lies ahead for Liverpool, as they look for a positive start to their season. Before we look at how they got on, let's take a look back at their pre-season results.

There's an interesting mix of results here, with losses against the two weaker sides, and big wins against Inter and Udinese...interestingly, all of those games were played away from home, which means that Sion will be the first side to visit Anfield this season when they come for the first leg of the Europa League playoffs.

Southampton 0-1 Liverpool (Premiership)
Andre Wisdom (44)
Jordan Henderson (7.8)

Liverpool 4-1 Sion (Europa League Playoff, 1st Leg)
Coutinho (15,23,37)
Jordan Henderson (89)
Coutinho (9.5)

Liverpool 2-0 Wigan (Premiership)
Tommy Rowe (45+1)
Luis Alberto (90)
Martin Kelly (7.4)

Sion 0-4 Liverpool (Europa League Playoff, 2nd Leg)
Pedro Chirivella (22)
Luis Alberto (35,65)
Jose Enrique (60)
Luis Alberto (8.8)

Blackburn 2-3 Liverpool (Premiership)
Daniel Agger (9)
Coutinho (24)
Luis Alberto (80)
Luis Alberto (8.3)

An unbeaten month gives us a good foundation to build on, and we've not exactly been goal-shy either, which is a great sign :)
