It's horrible dropping back out of the champions league. Especially when you've just gotten back in it! Do not be an omen for real life Adam! ;)
Tough luck to see Suarez miss on the Golden Boot, and surprised that he was not in the first XI of the season

Rodgers: Improvement Needed

After a somewhat disappointing season from Liverpool, Brendan Rodgers has urged supporters not to give up on the team. He did, however, admit that he shares the concerns of the fans about the performance of the team. Rodgers' side lost fourteen of their 38 league games last season, and finished the season in 5th place, failing to meet the pre-season expectations of qualifying for the UEFA Champions League for the second consecutive year. But Rodgers insists that none of his players are unsettled by their failure to do so. He has tied several of them down to longer contracts, including upcoming star Raheem Sterling, central midfielder Jordan Henderson, and star striker Luis Suárez, who had been unsettled a couple of seasons ago.

Rodgers also confirmed that money was there to be spent, just like last season, when he brought in Swiss winger Xherdan Shaqiri from Bayern Munich. "There's definitely money there, and I hope I can spend it on some top talent. I've got a few big names in the pipeline, but it's a question of whether they will want to come here without the temptation of Champions League football." Rodgers said. "I plan on selling a few players to boost that budget even further, but nothing drastic is needed, I don't think. Of course last year was a disappointment, but I've faith in the lads to do better this year. I've spoken with a few of the players who are out of contract in the summer, and one or two of them don't want to stay here, and will be leaving, which ideally, I didn't want, but we have the money to replace them."
Maybe a new striker to get tutoring under Suarez to replace him in the future? It looks like when he's not playing well, your team fails to do as well, so that's a red flag.. Are you looking to challenge for PL honors this season?
Unlucky mate, 5th is pretty tough for a club that were so close to the UCL. I think some new fullbacks would really help though. Check out Sebastian Corchia and Ricardo Rodriguez, I'd think they'd really help the team defensively. I'm looking forward to next season! :)

Two leave Liverpool as Rodgers looks for rebuild

Pjanić while playing for Bosnia last year

Liverpool have announced the sale of two players, who have left Anfield immediately. Bosnian playmaker Miralem Pjanić leaves for last years 'Invicibles', Manchester City, while German midfielder Sebastian Rode goes back to his home country, after accepting a contract offer from Hoffenheim.

Pjanić was bought two years ago now by Brendan Rodgers, brought in from Roma for a fee of £17.75 million. But the Bosnian did not live up to Rodgers' expectations during his time at the club, creating just 14 goals in 61 games. Rodgers was more than happy to sell to league rivals Manchester City, and the Northern Irishman still made a profit on the attacking midfielder, despite the 25-year-old winning the 'Worst Signing of the Season' award in his first season in the Premier League. Sold for £22 million, the money brought into the club will really benefit Liverpool, who hope to get back into the top four this year following the disappointment of last year. Pjanić had many rivals for his position at Anfield, and they will be happy of less competition for first team place. Coutinho, Suso, and Nicolae Stanciu will now battle it out for a role in the first team.

The other player to be sold is German midfielder Sebastian Rode. Rode was brought into the club two seasons ago, on a free transfer from Frankfurt. Rodgers had suggested that he was a potential replacement for Steven Gerrard, and was interested in signing him a long time before the deal actually went through. But Rode was kept out of the squad by Portuguese midfielder William Carvalho, and English central midfielder Jordan Henderson. Rode declared himself unhappy with the situation, and was later placed on the transfer list. Soon afterwards, German team Hoffenheim contacted him about a return to Germany, and he snapped up the chance, leaving for a fee of £6.75 million. Once again, a profit on Brendan Rodgers' part, but will the extra money come in handy, or will it be wasted?
Oh dear but at least you made good fees for them from what I could gather were squad players
Unlucky about finishing 5th in the league but hopefully with some good signings and a rebuilding of part of your squad, this season will be an improvement and you can get back into the UCL. Looks like for those two players it didn't work out at Anfield so it's good to get in some extra cash by offloading them.
Some decent deals for them two there, especially getting £22M for Pjanic!
Well done for getting a lot for Pjanic, considering his performances last year at Anfield. Did you add a buy-back clause?
You've made some healthy profit off Pjanic. Will be interesting to see who you bring in.

Liverpool FC can confirm the sale of French defender Mamadou Sakho to Premier League rivals Tottenham Hotspur for a fee of £15.75 million.

A slight loss was made on the 25-year-old, who was bought from PSG in 2013 for £16 million, but the player was unhappy at the low amount of game time he was getting, and had previously asked to be sold by Brendan Rodgers, something the Northern Irishman was keen to do, but no potential suitors were found, until the summer transfer window, when Tottenham Hotspur, who were short on defensive players following the sale of Jan Vertonghen to PSG last season.

Sakho is expected to play more games under Spurs manager Guus Hiddink, who replaced Tim Sherwood midway through last season. Liverpool are well stocked in this position, with four capable players able to play in the centre back role - Winston Reid, Daniel Agger, Stefan Strandberg and Martin Škrtel.

Joining the club, we are delighted to announce, are Geoffrey Kondogbia, and Sébastien Corchia, both of whom join from the French Ligue 1. Both French players, Kondogbia was subject to interest from Arsenal and Barcelona before he completed his move from Sevilla to AS Monaco. The 22-year-old joins Liverpool for a fee of £12 million, and will rotate with current defensive midfielder William Carvalho, who has been a key figure at the club since his £2.5 million move from Sporting Lisbon. Kondogbia signs a five year deal at Anfield.

Sébastien Corchia actually joined as a replacement to Glen Johnson, who Brendan Rodgers tells us only agreed to sign a new deal on the last day of his contract, having previously been unhappy at the underachievement of last season. It was for this reason that Corchia was bought, but he is likely to start ahead of Johnson now, with the Frenchman looking to have a promising career ahead of him, at the age of just 24, he has already been capped 5 times by the French national side.
Shame to see Sakho go, especially to a rival club however Kondogbia is an animal and will aid your cause to win the title. Lovely update as per usual.
Sahko is a big sale but you've got plenty of cover in his position. Kondogbia is a really good signing, he will add some steel and power to your midfield. As for Corchia, what about Flanagan? Or is he starting at Left Back?
Interesting selling Sakho, especially to a Premier a league club.
