The Month Ahead

Apart from the Real Madrid game that doesn't really matter, we have quite a laid back month ahead by playing some average teams.

Player of the Month

Federico Pardini

After months of Batshuayi under the spotlight, Pardini has played an integral part in beating both Roma and Monaco as well as scoring many goals in the league.
Great month! Keep this up! :D
MCox93: Thanks man! I'll try my best to bring Rodríguez here but can't guarantee anything :)

Walter: Thanks Walter :D
amazing month jack, keep it up!

Braga Draw Barça

After playing out the final game of the group stage against Real Madrid, Portuguese champions Braga face a mammoth of a challenge in playing Spanish titans Barcelona in the first knockout phase of the Champions League.

The two have no history of meeting or links with players so it is a completely new opponent for both sides.

Braga have never been further than the first knockout round in the Champions League in their history, they are currently on par with last season when they lost 5-2 on aggregate to English side Manchester United. Barcelona, however, have won the competition four times, their first in 1992, then in 2006, 2009 and their most recent in 2011. But Barcelona have never managed to match the title winning side of 2011 which included players like David Villa, Gabriel Milito and an in form Eric Abidal.

Whilst Barcelona were battling in the final of the Champions League in this season, Braga faced a defeat in the Europa League final with fellow Portuguese side FC Porto with highly-rated Falcao getting on the scoresheet in a match that ended 1-0.
Ahh it'll be a tough test but maybe, just maybe you can pip your way through ;)
Unlucky about the draw man, that will be a very tough tie that's for sure, hopefully you can cause an upset and sneak through though!
Nice graphic btw ;)
fzemdegs: Thanks mate :D

Neal: If I can go through, I might just throw a house party :))

pompeyblue: Hoping to cause an upset, who knows? :P Thank you very much for the graphic, looks awesome :)

December Update

An up and down month for the last month of 2015 with 2 draws and a loss for the first part of the month but all wins for the last part which gives us some morale to go into 2016 with. We progressed in the Champions League despite a 4-1 loss to Real Madrid and have done some great catching up with Benfica and Porto despite being so far behind earlier in the season.

The Month Ahead

In the league we finally start to play some better teams like Sporting Lisbon and FC Porto as well as a tie against bitter rivals Vitória Guimarães in the League Cup Group Stage. Our Champions League tie isn't until February unfortunately but we will be fired up for that game, definitely.

Player of the Month

Sadio Mané

Following a great end of the year for the wideman, Mané has already started attracting interest from other clubs, Bundesliga's Freiburg to name one. He has created a series of goals since the season began but has really stood out in December.
Not a great start to the month, but you recorded two great wins after that!

Rodríguez Flies into Portugal for Braga Talks

A fan posted this picture of Rodríguez at Braga Airport at around 8:30am

Braga's social network fanbase went into meltdown this morning as a fan who was supposed to be boarding his plane to Cairo, Egypt spotted the AS Monaco star walking through the arrivals part of the airport.

The man in the picture is known as Paulo Jesus and is known amongst most of the Braga fans since this morning when he took the picture. His Twitter account @PJesus78 said before the picture was taken: @PJesus78: "Airport, going to Cairo for 2 weeks ::D" and a few minutes later, @PJesus78: "Oh my lord, I've only just seen James Rodríguez passing through arrivals at Braga Airport, must be talks with Braga!"

After many fans on the social network replied demanding proof, Paulo went to take a picture with the Colombian. @PJesus78: "As requested, James Rodríguez at Braga Airport!" with the picture below. The tweet has gone onto be retweeted 789 times, by both Monaco and Braga fans.

Is Rodríguez discussing a move to Braga? It certainly has fans across the globe talking as Braga have been linked with out-of-favour Rodríguez for quite a few months and now the transfer window has opened it is even more likely he is discussing a move with the Portuguese champions, Braga.
Wow this would be a brilliant signing!! :O
Is it possible? Would be amazing!

Rodríguez Makes Return to Portugal!

Braga have today completed what will be one of the biggest transfers of the January transfer window after completing the transfer that brings Colombian midfielder James Rodríguez to the club for a reported fee of around €13,500,000.

Following months of rumours, Braga have finally come to an agreement with AS Monaco and Rodríguez himself and today is a 'great day' for the club according to chairman António Salvador.

The Rodríguez to Braga rumour came about just before Braga and Monaco's second clash in the Champions League Group Stage back in late November, a game which Rodríguez had to watch from the bench as he has done for most of the season with Monaco after making only seven starts in all competitions for the French rich kids.

Some say that Braga have got him for a bargain fee of €13.5 million but he has not been that of an important player at all for Monaco, who flood their midfield with Morgan Schneiderlin, Mousa Dembélé, Levin Oztunali and Joao Moutinho regularly which leaves the Colombian to hope he gets game time via the bench.

Monaco have made a huge loss on Rodríguez money-wise as well, after purchasing him from Liga Zon Sagres side FC Porto back in 2013 for €47 million, they have made an approximate loss of about €33,500,000 on him.

Braga boss Armando Azevedo was interviewed upon the transfer, he said "It shows how far we have come financially and how much our reputation has grown in the past few years here because we would never have been able to attract such quality here ever before. I feel great because as a fan, I know how much this deal means. Here's to a new era at Braga!"

Whilst the new signing, Rodríguez had this to say following his return to Portugal "Ever since I left Porto in 2013 I have been keeping an eye on how Portuguese football goes after I leave and Azevedo has turned this league from a mediocre European league into a heavily contested league. I can't wait to get started under my new team."

Rodríguez is the most expensive transfer ever made by Braga since the €8,500,000 purchase of Guinea-Bissau-born winger Bruma from Lazio in August 2015.
Wow, great signing! Very cheap as well!
