April Update

A horrible month. As Fonseca said, we did slip up and we've just made it 10 times harder for ourselves but you know what? It adds entertainment and intensity for you guys! The title race will come down to the final day. For absolute definite. Along with the tense title race we also have the Taca de Portugal final after beating Benfica 3-2 on aggregate over two legs in the semi-finals. So that is two live commentaries for you to read and hopefully enjoy!

But onto the April results:

Braga 0 - 4 Manchester City

Sergio Aguero (5, pen 27)
David Silva (34)
Álvaro Negredo (84)

Braga 4 - 0 Olhanense

Afonso Alves (52)
Mario Sampirisi (own goals 55, 68)
Kadu (72)

Manchester City 1 - 0 Braga (5-0 Agg.)

James Milner (27)

Braga 4 - 0 Gil Vicente

Vitor Vinha (own goal 4)
Éder (23)

Afonso Alves (83)

SL Benfica 1 - 0 Braga

Roberto Perreyra (72)

Braga 0 - 2 Pacos de Ferreira

André Leao (81)
Dady (90+1)

Now, lets take a look at the title-deciding month, May. Porto definitely have the easier finishing games than us, playing 10th placed Marítimo and last-placed Arouca on the final day, whilst we have to play 8th placed Estoril and 5th placed Sporting Lisbon. Porto are almost nigh-on guaranteed an easy two wins against them two, but against Marítimo and Sporting, we have to work to win the league. Like we have done all season.

unlucky against man city mate, but good results elsewhere
Aaah, that wasn't the greatest month! Goodluck picking it up in the next!
Fzemdegs: I know, it's a real shame we slipped up against Pacos

Aaron: Thanks, May is the decider so we have to pick it up! :)

Braga do the Double!

"Absolutely unbelievable"

Those were the words that muttered from Braga manager Armando Azevedo as the final whistle blew on the Taca de Portugal final against FC Porto.

Goals from Rodrigo Battaglia and Éder made Braga win their second title in 7 days after an exceptional performance in the 2-1 win against FC Porto.

After the match, Azevedo offered his words to worldwide journalists as he came out with: "Everybody knows I'm a fan. I've made that very clear since I joined almost one year ago now. I've just won the double for the first time in my clubs history, I can now die happy. These players, they do not understand the love I have for them after these past few weeks. They've made me happy. This team, this team is legendary. Doubted by everyone? These didn't care, they took it as a compliment and delivered what was needed to make these fans love football. Because this is what football is about, underdogs. We were the underdogs. Now we are heroes. Thank you"

Azevedo has gained himself worldwide respect for getting Braga to win the double and what he comes out with in the media. Some of his former employees have congratulated him via Twitter.

World Cup 2014: Cameroon vs Portugal

Presenter: Hello and welcome to Portugal's World Cup opener against Cameroon. Here on RTP you will be receiving commentary of this match from Braga manager Armando Azevedo.

Lets look at the line-ups set out from both teams managers:

19:00 The teams are out! We head over to Armando Azevedo for our commentary today.

1': The whistles gone and N'Djeng kicks off Cameroon's World Cup campaign! Here we go!

5': Bedimo has a throw-in for Cameroon in their own half, near the corner flag. Tries to find Eto'o but it's too far left of him and Pereira heads it to Fernando. Here's Monaco's Joao Moutinho. Meireles now in the centre of the park, lays it back to Rolando. Played all the way forward to Cristiano Ronaldo. Ronaldo with a direct run into the box for Portugal. Plays a little pass to Fernandes! What a save! But what a miss by Fernandes! Makoun clears for Cameroon.

Pereira now takes control down the right. Slices it into Kameni's hands.

45+1': Pereira has a throw-in for Portugal. Here's Ricardo Costa, passes with his laces to Meireles. Slow pass to Fernandes but it's got there, finds Ronaldo. Over the top to Almeida who heads it on to chase, Matip intercepts and Kameni clears high up the pitch. Rolando wins the header and it's with Fernandes. Joao Moutinho here, Raul Meireles now, back to Costa. Portugal really need to start attacking, it's all good keeping possession but you need to do something with it! Moutinho to Meireles. Almeida near the edge of box for Portugal, Coentrao has yards of space down the left here, Moutinho on the edge for Portugal, Almeida, Meireles, Coentrao, crosses in here... Almeida at the near post! It's in! Hugo Almeida has opened Portugal's World Cup scoring account! 1-0 Portugal!

45+2': Half-time at Arena Gremio. A Hugo Almeida header has given Portugal the lead over Cameroon in the first group stage match for the two sides.

57': Costa picks up the ball in his own half, straight over the top to Ronaldo! He shoots! Saved by Kameni!

59': Bedimo with a throw-in deep inside Portugal's half here. Headed away by Fernando, Bedimo wins it back for Cameroon. Now it's Overtoom, into the box! And Patrício's done a howler! He's punched the ball into his own net but it still counts as Overtoom's goal. One-all.

67':
Kameni with the goal kick. Meireles heads it back to Chedjou. A short pass to Makoun, Nyom now has it on the right, Moukandjo to Makoun, back again to Nyom. Coentrao intercepts Chedjou's pass and it's pumped forward by the left-back. Ronaldo with the header, it bounces once into Nyom's path... But he's lost control of it! Here's Almeidaaaaaaaaaaaa! Straight at Kameni who catches it with ease. A wasted opportunity for Portugal.

82':Helder Postiga replaces the goalscorer Almeida for Portugal.

90+3': Throw-in for Portugal, it's gone straight to Moukandje. Here's Makoun on the right. Nyom now. Hoofed forward by Nyom... Full-time, a very boring game for the fans and neutrals as the game ends 1-1.

World Cup 2014: Portugal vs Australia

Presenter: Hello and welcome to Portugal's second group stage match in the World Cup live on STP. Today it is Portugal versus Australia, who have just come off the back of a 4-0 win over Slovenia. Lets look at who Paulo Bento has sent out to play against the Australians, as well as their line-up as well:

17:00: It's now time to head over to our commentator and also Braga manager Armando Azevedo for the game

1': Ronaldo get's us kicked off here for the Portugal versus Australia match broadcasted live on STP.

4': Patrício has a free-kick on the edge of his own box here. Just a simple short pass to Coentrao, Neto, here's the captain, Costa. Fernando with a one-two with Costa. And it's now Meireles with the ball. Fernandes plays it back to Pereira, Fernando again. Pereira, Portugal seem to be playing it across the back four again. They need to scare Australia by attacking them, passing it around the back is doing nothing apart from keeping the ball... Finally! An attack! Coentrao hits a ball over the top which Ronaldo chases down... Intercepted by the keeper, Matthew Ryan. Short pass to Neill, Shane Lowry here for Australia... Pass intercepted in a dangerous place by Fernandes. Straight forward to Almeida, finds Ronaldo! Brilliant save by Matthew Ryan! Punches it high over the bar for a corner!

Fernandes with the corner, Lowry comes off the near post to head away. Kruse meets the ball halfway, hits it straight at Costa for a throw-in.

7': Wilkshire with the free-kick at Portugal's corner flag, Fernando heads it away from danger. Ronaldo rushes out to meet the ball and start the counter attack here, Ronaldo with blistering pace, sprints straight from his own box to the opposite side of the pitch with the pace of a cheetah! Shoots! A very poor finish from a fantastic run.

12': Moutinho nods it down to Fernandes, Coentrao asks for it and gets the ball. He stops to play it back to Moutinho, Fernandes now. Switches it to Pereira, inside to Meireles, Pereira receives it back on the overlap from Meireles. Back to Meireles now as Jedinak commits himself to the slide tackle. Moutinho receives it and spots Pereira darting into the box, finds him, Lowry fouls! PENALTY TO PORTUGAL! Ronaldo takes 3 steps back... Runs up... Bottom-right corner! 1-0 Portugal! Cristiano Ronaldo gives his country the lead!

31': Corner for Portugal, Fernandes to take. Shocking. Straight into the side-netting.

43': Rúben replaces the injured Fabio Coentrao.

44': Australia have a throw-in here. Wilkshire gives it straight to Jedinak. Ronaldo tackles and gives it to Fernandes. It's found Almeida, the only Portuguese man currently in Australia's half. Meireles sees Ronaldo's run! Matthew Ryan with another quality save! He's keeping Australia alive here!

Moutinho with the corner for Portugal, headed over.

45+3': Half time here, it's 1-0 to Portugal due to a Cristiano Ronaldo penalty.

75': My boy Éder comes on for Almeida! Go on son! Get yourself a goal!

90+3': The referee brings an end to what was a very boring second half but Portugal still got the win and move up to 2nd place, behind Cameroon whilst Australia move into 3rd. All that is left for Portugal are Slovenia who were beaten 4-0 by Australia and 3-1 by Cameroon. But for now, goodbye from me and STP!
Incredible achievement to win the title and cup with Braga! I'm loving seeing someone do a Portuguese story, I am having fun managing there myself.

In the WC in my Oriental Lisbon save, Portugal were knocked out at the group stage, hopefully they do better for you, or if they don't you may get the job ;)
no wonder they beat Australia, they were playing a 19 year old striker who is a back up at an A-League club!
