League Cup Groups Drawn: Oriental Handed Tough Task

A Bola:
The groups for the 2015-16 Portuguese League Cup have been drawn and there is a keen sense of intrigue after the draw, as fans sought to find out who their team had drawn. Here is an overview of the four groups.

Group A

Not the toughest of groups, but still a challenging one nonetheless. SLB are expected to walk the group whereas Vitoria Guimarães are expected to assume second place. Both newly promoted sides are in the group - Oriental and Moreirense. Both could take the bottom two spots but Oriental are fancied to finish rock bottom.

Group B

Another relatively tough group, Sporting are the early favourites to take home the first placed spot. But they could be tested by Manuel Machado's Nacional da Madeira side, who have garnered a reputation for being tough to beat. Both Académica and União Madeira are expected to not put up much of a fight for the two Primeira Liga sides.

Group C

Any group with FC Porto in it is going to be a challenge, but Porto themselves aren't expected to find it hard. Estoril could take home second spot but there is no underestimating Belenenses, who are a fighting side looking to smash and grab. Rio Ave, who languish in the Second League with Belenenses, are the group's cellar dwellars.

Group D

Braga have been given possibly the easiest draw they could have hoped for. They will be up against second division side Feirense, not expected to make life hard for Ciro Ferrara's men. Olhanense will battle it out with Paços Ferreira to take the second place.

There are the groups. The big three have once again been given the easiest of tasks for getting through to the Fourth Phase whereas the smaller clubs of Portugal have a mountain to climb.
Tough draw but anything can happen in the cup. Moreirense should be a must win though

Yeah, that is true. I don't really mind about this cup seeing as though we have to do everything to stay up in the league.

Oriental Break Club Transfer Record

Oriental Offical Site
The club is very pleased to announce the purchase of youngster Jorge Reis for a club record fee of £350,000. Reis, 17, will join the club in the January transfer window from Boavista and is has already expressed his delight at being given the opportunity to join a club on the rise such as Oriental.

Reis came through the youth setup at Boavista, a fallen giant of Portuguese football, and was regarded highly by the staff members at the Estádio do Bessa and joined the senior squad at the start of the season, where he has made 15 appearances and maintaining solid form.

Manager Vitor Martins was ecstatic about the deal, commending Reis' attitude. "Jorge is a consumate professional and has the ambition and drive to succeed at the highest of levels.

I'm not going to rush him in to the team. Or proclaim he is the golden child of Portuguese football. All I'm going to say is this kid has amazing potential, and I'm just very, very happy to have made him apart of the club."

The 17-year old himself was also very pleased to be announced as an Oriental player. "I'm happy to have joined such a prosperous club," claimed Reis.

"While I'm very fond of my time at Boavista this is a new chapter in my career - and I believe I can do lots of things here with this team. Everyone here is thoroughly professional and has that never-say-die attitude that has made them the club they are."

It is yet to be seen whether Reis will make the first team cut, but many predict not this season but the next the hot prospect will make the jump to a first team role. This will also give manager Martins time to mould Reis into the type of player he wants him to be, so he can easily slip into the starting eleven.
