Preparing the new season!

As I said earlier, it will be a very busy transfer window for us…and I already started doing business. But first of all, I had a meeting with my bosses where we discussed about the next seasons objectives and budgets…after several hours of talking, we came to an agreement over this:

  • Objective: Top Half Finish
  • Transfer Budget: 5.25 m euro
  • Payroll Budget: 10.5 m euro

As we were spending just 6 m per season on wages and we were about to release a lot of players, I am very pleased with this budget and I firmly believe that we can create a team that can finish in top 5, or at least this is my personal objective.

Departures

The players that were at the end of the contract were released, and between them are some important players, like our keeper Coltori or like our right back Andreas Gorliz….many people are not pleased with this decisions, but this players were too old, I want to build for the future, next season I want to win the league!

We also managed to sell 3 players that we didn't need them anymore:

  • Anthony Jung - 79k - Darmstadt
  • Mikko Sumsalo - 325k - Heidenheim
  • Dominik Kaiser - 375k - Bochum

Also a big part of the staff was released and I am already in talks with some staff members, which if accept my offer, will be huge surprises for our fans!

Arrivals

Until now, the only players that arrived at our club are the three players that we signed on pre-contract: Jesus Rubio, Herve Basile and Madson.

Transfer window and Team Presentation – Part 1

I predicted an extremely busy transfer window for us and indeed it was! 14 players left our club…some of them were released and some of them were sold. I wanted to sell all of them, exept one: Georg Teigl. He was a key player for us, one of the best players for us last season, but one day, Hertha BSC offered us 1.7 m euro for him… when the player heard about the offer he baged me to let him join Hertha as they are a team from Bundesliga and a club with a rich history…what could I do? I understood him and let his go!

We released 14 players, but we also signed 14 repalcements, all of them come as free agents. I am very pleased with the team I have now and I think that we can push for a top 5 at the end of the season, while for the next season I aim to win the league.

Goalkeepers

[spoiler=Gunther Arnberger]
Arnberger is exactly the sort of keeper I was looking for! At 22 years he is young and very talented, a keeper that can play in Zweite Bundesliga and also has the potential to become a decent player for Bundesliga. Gunther signed a 2 years deal with us, worth of 240 k / season.

Strikers

Full Squad

I think that we managed to form a very solid team that can battle in the top this season!

Solid looking team there!

Pre-season fixtures !

Due to some problems with searching players, making offers and waiting for them to sign the contract, we didn’t really had time to properly prepare for the new season and we played just 3 friendlies in the pre-season..I know that that we should have played more matches, but we didn’t have the time. But, overall, I am pleased with the form my players showed in this 3 matches, despite still having some team cohesion problems.
Another thing that bothers me is that Daniel Frahn got injuried just before our first friendly and missed the whole pre-season preparation...but Poulsen replaced him with succes!

Friendly Matches

Red Bull Leipzig 3 – 2 Erfurt
Yussuf Poulsen
Yussuf Poulsen
Henrik Ernst

Erfrut is a team from 3. Bundesliga, one league lower than us, but they played very well this match...
But the team that dominated the match was our team, having a possesion of 67%, 12 shots towards target and 7 on target. It’s alway very good to win in your first match, as it gives you a huge morale boost for the next matches!

Red Bull Leipzig 6 – 0 Dessau

Tom Lawrence (was on trial)
Ragnar Sveinsson (was on trial)
Ragnar Sveinsson
Adil Chihi
Adil Chihi
Najib Ammari

Dessau is a very weak team from a lower German league and we didn’t had any problems deefating them. Despite scoring in this match, Tom Lawrence and Ragnar Sveinsson weren’t signed by the club.

Slavia Praha 2 – 2 Red Bull Leipzig

Yussuf Poulsen
Yussuf Poulsen

This was our most important match of the pre-season as we me Slavia Praha, which is one of the best clubs in Czech Republic! A draw against them is a very good result for us, and I am very pleased with my players performances! I think we are ready for the season ahead!

July fixtures !

Just a week after the pre-season preparation was over we already started playing in Zweite Bundesliga...sadly, we didn’t had the best start, as we lost our first match against a new-promoted team, Cottbus, but after that we bounced back and managed to egt a win.

Zweite Bundesliga Matches

Cottbus 2 – 1 Red Bull Leipzig
Matthias Henn

Cottbus dominated 3.Bundesliga last season and I knew that they are a strong team...but still, I didn’t expect to lose this match and we ahve no excuse!

Red Bull Leipzig 2 – 1 Dusseldorf

Yussuf Poulsen
Yussuf Poulsen

But we are a much stronger team than we were last season and we managed to bounce back after that defeat against Cottbus and won the match against Dusseldorf, a very strong team from our league! We actually dominated them with a 63% possesion and 10 shots on target!

League Table

Najib Ammari was sold!

As I mentioned earlier, Najib told me that he wants to leave the club, so I transfer listed him...as soon as I did this, offers start flowing for him and we accepted various 275k euro offers. He decided that the best offer for him was the one from Chateaurox from France and he signed a contract with them!

Poulsen is turning into a beast! And decent start to the league in my opinion!

August fixtures !

We started the month of August in the best way possible, dominating the opposition, retaining possession and creating a lot of chances…this helped us to win our first 3 matches in a row!
Then, came the match against 1860 Munchen and we managed to get just a draw against them, which is not a bad result…but the defeat against Sandhausen was totally unexpected! I hope that we will bounce back next match!

Zweite Bundesliga

Aalen 0 – 3 Red Bull Leipzig

Manuel Junglas (og)
Yussuf Poulsen
Alex Emenike

Aalen had a very bad start of the season, and managed to get just 2 points in 6 matches, so it was expected from us to defeat them and we did it! I was very pleased about our playing style and the fac that we are creating a lot of chances to score!

Red Bull Leipzig 2- 1 Union Berlin

Yussuf Poulsen
Yussuf Poulsen

Union Berlin are exactly the opposite of Aalen…they had a perfect start of the season, and they were sitting on the top of the league before we met them. We had a very hard match, especially that Matthias Henn took a red card in min 44, when we were already led by 1-0… but Poulsen, which has an amazing start of the season, saved us with his goals!

1860 Munchen 0 - 0 Red Bull Leipzig

None

For the second match in a row, we recived a red card! This time was Gonzalo, the man that replaced suspended Henn in the first eleven..so, this result it’s not that bad.

Red Bull Leipzig 1 –2 Sandhausen

Quansah

Nobody expected that…a defeat against Sandhausen! I think that the players got complacent before the match…but I will change that, for sure!

DFB - Pokal

Salmrohr 0 – 2 Red Bull Leipzig

Quansah
Bazile

Samrohr is a club from a lower division in Germany and I decided to use a lot of reserves and young prospects which impressed me and played very well! It’s a very good win for their morale! In the next round of the cup we’ll meet Koln!

League Table

@ ASR-PSV - thanks! Yes mate, he's in a great form!
You're actually doing really well at the moment! Keep it up!
good solid signings there. good luck for the new season

Transfer window review!

It was very busy transfer window across Europe and even for us, as we signed 14 new players and we also sold some players.
The biggest spenders of this window were Real Madrid, which splashed 37.5 m euro to sign Liverpool’s defensive midfielder Lucas Leiva.

July

The most expensive of July was also the most expensive of the whole transfer windiw, Real Madrid signing Lucas Leiva from Liverpool for 37.5 m euro. Lucas is a good midfielder, but my personal opinion is that he does not worth this much money!

After just a season in Premier League, Diego Costa choosed to go back in Spain and signed a contract with Barcelona. They paid Chelsea 32 m euro.

In Italy, Juventus brought a replacement for Buffon, and it’s no surprise that it’s the same man that will replace Buffon at the Italian naonal squad: Salvatore Sirigu. Juve paid 28.5 m euro for him!

In my view, the most interesting transfer of July is Liverpool’s new signing, Gino Peruzzi, which I believe will become the best right back in the World! The Reds paid 13.75 m euro to Catania.

August

The most expensive deal of August was one that surprised everyone: Danny Wellbeck’s move from United to Chelsea. Chelsea paid 22.5 m euro for him and was brought as a replacement for Costa.

Xherdan Shaquiri, in my opinion, did a stupid thing transferring to Manchester City…if he was unhappy being a reserve at Bayern, at City will stay even more as a substitution!

For me, the ebst deal of this month is Roma’s new signing Alessio Cerci, which arrived from Torino forjust 4.7 m euro!

September

Everton were the biggest spenders in September, as they made 3 signings, splashing over 30 m euro for these 3 players: Luuk de Jong, Pedro Leon and Ivan Perisic.

Best deal of this month goes to Southampton which signed Jordan Ayew from OM for just 7.75 m euro!
