January fixtures and transfer window!

As you know from the last season, in Zweite Bundesliga, there is a winter break in January and just like last season, we decided to play some friendlies so we don’t lose our fitness. From 4 macthes played, we won 2 of them, made one draw and were defeated once…but we faced very strong clubs, so I am pleased with our performance!

Friendly Matches

Red Bull Leipzig 2 – 2 Schalke

Canavan
Quansah

This is an amazing result for us! Schalke started with all their stars and we managed to get a draw against them! Amazing performance!

Bayern Hof 2 – 5 Red Bull Leipzig

Daniel Gareis (og)
Yussuf Poulsen

Thiago Rockenbach

There’s not much to say about this match..we’ve met a very poor team and we scored a lot of goals, despite using our reserves. I am pleased with the outcome!

Red Bull Leipzig 2 – 1 Rijeka

Quansah
Luge

Rijeka is a strong team from the Croatian First League, so to get a win against them it’s something very special for us! Once again we dominated our opposition, maintaining possession and creating a lot of chances to score!

Red Bull Leipzig 1 – 3 Aarau

Yussuf Poulsen

Aarau defeated us, but we played pretty well and just got unlucky and were hit on counter.

Transfer window

The biggest spenders of January were PSG, which splashed a total of 65 m euro for three players: Udinese’s Roberto Pereyra, Inter’s Mateo Kovacic and Ajax’s Lucas Romero.

But the most expensive deal of this month was the transfer of Christian Benteke, which left Aston Villa to join Chelsea on a fee of 25.5 m euro.

Chelsea also made the most expensive deal of February, which is also the biggest one of the window: they paid Southampon 30 m euro for the young midfielder James Ward – Prowse.

Chelsea also sold a midfielder, Marco Van Ginkel, which joined PSG for a fee of 23.5 m euro.

@ASR-PSV - thank you!
great season so far mate, it looks like a straight shootout between you and Paderborn for the title at this stage

keep going and good luck

February fixtures !

So, things were getting back to normal after the short winter break as the second part of the season began. We played 3 matches in Zweite Bundesliga this month and we won 2 of them and surprisingly we lost one! At the end of the month we are still on top of the league with 6 points advantage in front of second place Paderborn.

Zweite Bundesliga

Red Bull Leipzig 5 – 1 Aalen

Jesus Rubio Jesus Rubio
Daniel Frahn
Poulsen
Poulsen

A perfect start of the month with us dominating the opposition, creating a lot of chances and winning the match! In this match was also the debute of our new signings Sergey which came in to substitute Frahn in min 82.

Union Berlin 1 – 2 Red Bull Leipzig

Sergey
Alex Emenike

I think that the players are starting to get complacent, thinking that they are better than everybody…and they started this match very poorly. In minute 20, Berlin already opened the score and I knew that it’s going to be very hard to mount a comeback! But at half time the score was even thanks to Alex which scored a header. In min 55 I decided to substitute Frahn which had a very poor performance and I introduced Sergey which also scored to get us the 3 points!

Red Bull Leipzig 0 – 2 1860 Munchen

None

A very poor performance by our side and we suffered an unexpected defeat..I hope that it was just an accident and it won’t happen again!

League Table

Player of the Month

Jesus Rubio, the Spanish midfielder that was bought in as a backup played very well from the start and shortly became one of our key players! He had a very good month, scoring twice and also providing 3 assist for his team-mates!

@toonman8589 - thank you!
Still in great form, and it looks like you're going up! Keep this form up!

March fixtures !

If we usually play 3 or 4 matches in a month time, March was a little busier for us as we played 5 games. Despite players getting tired, we still managed to play very well and we won 4 matches and made one draw.
We are on the first place, 10 points ahead of second place Braunschweig, but there are still 7 matches to be played, so we can still lose the first place…but I hope that this won’t happen!

Zweite Bundesliga

Sandhausen 1 – 2 Red Bull Leipzig

Alex Emenike Herve Bazile

We started the month with a very good performance against 5th place Sandhausen. We held the ball 58% of the time and managed to create 13 chances to score.

Red Bull Leipzig 2 – 1 Aue

Yussuf Poulsen
Jesus Rubio

Aue are standing on 17th place and to be honest, I expected a much biger win! We played well, but we didn’t score as much as I expected…but we baged the 3 points!

Braunschweig 1 – 3 Red Bull Leipzig

Herve Bazile
Quansah
Poulsen

This may be the match that will make us champions! If we would lost this match, Braunschweig would come just 4 points behind us, but if we would have won it, we would put a 10 points gap between us and them!
This time I expected a much harder match than it was..our defensive was very impressive this month!

Bilefield 1 – 1 Red Bull Leipzig

Madson

The players got a little relaxed after that win against Brauschweig and didn’t manage to win this match..we could have a 12 points advantage now…

Red Bull Leipzig 3 – 1 Heidenheim

Quansah
Quansah
Henn

We ended the month in the same way we started it, with a very good performance and an important win!

League Table

Player of the Month

Matthias Henn, our vice-captain and central defender really deserves this award! He coordinated very well our defensive and he also scored a goal!

@ASR-PSV - thanks mate!
great month, nice lead in the league there!

Winner of Zweite Bundesliga!! - April fixtures

We have done it!! I can’t express in words how happy I am in these moments…our objective at the start of the season was a top half finish and now, with 2 matches to go, we are Champions!! Amazing season and amazing performances!

2 draws and 3 win in the 5 matches we played this month were more than enough to win the title…with Daniel Frahn and Quansah in the top of their form, nobody could stop us!

Player of the Month

At the start of the season, when I decided to sing Quansah, I expected a lot from him and I saw that he has huge talent…but he exceeded by far my expectations! Once again he is our player of the month!

@fzemdegs - thanks!
Congrats mate :D
Good luck in the Bundesliga!

May fixtures – End of the season awards!

2 matches remained to be played in May and I am very pleased that our players kept focusing and we didn’t lose them. We made a draw against Darmstadt and we won against Paderborn.

Now, that the season is over the players will go in a short vacation…but I won’t! First of all I have to form a new staff, as the majority of the staff will be released at the end of their contracts…then, despite having such a great season, we don’t have a team that can avoid relegation from Bundesliga, so that means that some players will be sold, other will be released and me, together with my staff will start looking for new players. For sure won’t be like last season, when we released and sold 14 players and also bought 14…but I think we will sign around 7 players…it all dependes on our transfer budget, wage budget and of course, if we will find good players!

Zweite Bundesliga

Red Bull Leipzig 2 – 2 Darmstadt

Daniel Frahn Herve Bazile

Paderborn 0 – 1 Red Bull Leipzig

Daniel Frahn

League Table

Player of the Year

Abeiku Quansah, our right winger, has won the Zweite Bundesliga Player of the Year award. The 24 years old had a very good season with great performances, scoring 9 goals and providing 13 assists in 27 matches played with an average rating of 7.34.

The most pleasing thing is that Daniel Frahn was voted on the second place while on third place was also one of our players, Jesus Rubio!

Top Goalscorer Award

Daniel Frahn, our captain and striker won this award, scoring a total of 21 goals in 27 apparences this season!

Team of the Season

Five of our players were named in Zweite Bundesliga team of the season: our keeper Arnberger, Emenike, Jesus Rubio, Quansah and Daniel frahn!

Manager of the Season award!

I am very pleased that I won this award in front of Christian Gross, Braunschweig manager and Alois Schwartz, Sandhassen’s manager!

@ ASR-PSV - thank you mate!
Great title AAN!

New kits and staff presentation! Pre-season informations!

New Kits

We have signed a new 2 years jersey sponsorhip contract that will last until 2017 worth of 1.78 m euro per season! The kits are pretty much how all Red Bull teams look like, with their Logo on the chest and the classic Red Bull colors, pink and blue.

New staff

Assistant Manager

First of all, I want to thank our former assistant coach, mister Eddy Acterberg, for helping us improve so much in the last two seasons, comig to our club with his huge experience. He decided to retire at 69 years old and he also recomanded us a new assistant coach.

I listened to his recomandaton and I decided to sign the man he recommended. I present you our new Assistant: Hristo Stoicikov! He is a former player of Barcelona and Parma which also won Ballon d’Or award. I am very pleased with this new addition!

Coaches

I decided to build a staff team formed only by former international players and I am very pleased that I managed to do it! This guys have imense experience behind them and for sure they will help us improve! We have a very numerous staff, but I want to mention some of them: Giussepe Bergomi, Gregory Coupet, Carles Puyol, Michael Ballack, Nuno Gomes and many other!

Pre season informations

I want to thank our board room for having so much faith in me and deciding to invest a lot of money in this team, as they offered me a transfer budget of 11.49 m euro and a wage budget of 18.5 m euro. Now we are spending around 6 m euro on wages, so with this very big wage budget we can sign better players and we can pay around 1.2 m eurp pers season for a player!

Also 8 players that are at the end of their contract will be released from the club. Some of them were very important for us, like Bambara, Galvao or Montano…but I feel that they can’t perform at a high level like Bundesliga, so they will be released.

@ fzemdegs - thank you!
