Western Suburbs Head Coach to Step Down at End of Season

A few days before the continuation of the 2015/16 Central Region Premier League season, Western Suburbs head coach Evan Clausen notified the club and fans that he will be leaving the club on 31 May.

This announcement turned a lot of heads and some people are a bit confused, one fan though his departure will not be well. Others believe that this is a good move as he has done all that he could do.

On his personal blog he wrote:
As much as I am enjoying this club I feel it is time to move on. After we finish this season, I will be moving on to another club. We have done all that we can do and there is nothing left. Without promotion to the ASB Premiership or qualification to the O-League there is nothing more to do.

I really hope everyone understands and will back me. If there was a chance to get this club to higher aspirations, then I would be staying. It has been a fun time here with the Wests and I will always remember it.

From what it looks like Clausen wants to move on to the ASB Premiership and have another shot t the O-League. If he doesn't stay in New Zealand there will be other clubs in the world that would want him managing. Since joining in December 2014 he has captured a league title and one ASB Chatham Cup. If all goes well he will bring in their 5th title and his second with the club at the end of may.

December/January Recap

After a well rested break the boy of Western Suburbs got back into action. Unlike last year around this time the club was learning a new system but now they have no issues on the tactical side. After finishing off 2015 with a 3-3 draw against Wellington Olympic they were looking for a better start in the new year.

Well sadly that did not happen during the first two matches being draws. "The start of the new year was really bad. We did not deserve the draws and will be trying to fix things. After such a strong start we are slipping and that is a slight cause for panic," said Clausen after the scoreless draw against Miramar Rangers.

The next report will be at the end of March.

Those draws must have been frustrating...
"Stop Out", what a weird name for a football club xD
But nice to see you're still first
Griffo You have no idea man lol

ASR-PSV Yeah you will find some funky names in a lot of these small countries. The funny thing is I don't know what they are trying to stop since they can't stop a thing.

February/March Recap

Western Suburbs kept things rolling in the past two months by winning four out of five matches with the final being a draw.Despite being on top of the league thanks to goal differences the management team feels confident but cautious going into the final four matches of the season.

"I am very pleased about where we are at right now but at the same time we need to be a bit careful in not letting first place slip away," said Clausen.

With four matches remaining this season the West need to make sure their form does not drop. We are approaching Evan Clausen's final four matches with this club. Back in January he announced that at the end of the season he would be leaving the club.

Brisbane Hire New Manager

BRISBANE- A month after last place Brisbane Roar FC fired John van't Schip the team has finally hired a new manager. After a few weeks of interviews and a few delays the Roar have came to an agreement with American Evan Clausen.

Clausen is a 29 year old American from Chicago, Illinois. Before joining the Roar he coached in American Samoa and most recently New Zealand. In 57 matches coached he has won 37 of them and has two league titles and two cup wins between FC SKBC (ASA) and Western Suburbs Soccer Club (NZL). Despite two matches away from his second title with the Wests the Brisbane board needed to have him join asap.

"I am very happy to now be apart of Brisbane, this club has a good history. Despite the last place finish I want to turn things around and bring Brisbane league and Champions League Glory in the near future. I am excited to meet the players and fans," said Clausen from his apartment in Wellington.

The 29 year old will have a lot to do as he wants to transform a club who has not been in the Finals Series since the 2013/14 season. His introductory press conference is set for the first of June. Will Clausen be able to turn around this club? The fans hope so!
Wow, a very good, high reputation club! It's gone really quick with the clubs, and I like that! I hope you can get a managerial job in Europe soon! Good luck at Brisbane!
YES! GREAT STUFF! How long did you have between jobs?
ASR-PSV Thanks, I don't think I will hit Europe until the 2020s but we will see

Griffo None, I kept delaying and they gave an ultimatum. I left the NZ club with two matches to go so I don't get a trophy :(
The mighty Brisbane Roar! Easily the most successful team in Australia, hopefully you can keep that going!
good luck at Brisbane Roar, great club, great setup

ill be watching on
So happy to see you takeover the Roar! Very big club in Australia, so goodluck!
