November - Top draw

COMING UP:
Liverpool vs Wigan
Liverpool vs Birmingham
Burnley vs Liverpool
Tottenham vs Liverpool
Liverpool vs Everton
A.C. Milan vs Liverpool
Manchester United vs Liverpool

Liverpool began a highly successful in a game which they dominated from start to finish. Wigan came to Liverpool looking to damage the Red's title hopes but came out burned and battered as they were sent further down into the relegation zone.

Fabio Borini scored first, which would go down as the Italian's fifth goal of the season. The striker is truly flying high in this season's Premier League as he was in last seasons Champions League. He went one better in the same game too when he scored the second goal against Wigan.

Adam Lallana managed to start ahead of Lazar Markovic in this game too, and he proved what he can do by scoring a clear cut chance when put in on goal by his teammate Lorenzo Insigne.

Liverpool were back in the Capital one Cup before you knew it. After a great 3-0 win against Wigan, they'd be looking to improve this unbeaten record and make it to the next round of the competition where they would be facing Middlesbrough who already made it to the Quarter Finals the night before in a 2-1 win against second in the Premier League, Chelsea.

Luis Suarez scored first in this one. His partner Borini fizzed a pass into the Uruguayan who flicked the ball up with a single touch but used the balls spin and momentum to spin the ball in the opposite direction to which he was turning around his marker. He instantly made himself a one on one opportunity and he took it well by placing the ball into the bottom right.

Birmingham equalized late on in the 88th minute. Jim O'Brien giving hope to all Birmingham fans. Hope that was dashed by Liverpool manager Steven Gerrard. The Skipper stepped up to take a penalty conceded by David Edgar, and he slotted it high up in the roof of the net. A 90th minute winner from Steven Gerrard.

The game wasn't over though. Still time for a late goal, Luis Suarez repaid Borini's assist to him and dinked the ball over the Birmingham back line where Borini would be waiting the tap it into the back of the net with his first touch.

Another hammering by Liverpool in their third game this month. They showed the Premier League exactly how to attack the opposition by slaughtering Burnley 5-0. The first of the five was scored by Neven Subotic who reached up high to head in Florenzi's corner.

Raheem Sterling doubled the lead just before half time and Luis Suarez made it three before we struck 70 minutes. Coutinho nestled the ball in the bottom left corner three minutes later and Raheem Sterling secured a brace in the 87th minute which completed a truly dominant win for his team.

We were now at the half way point of the month and were about to play Spurs. A change in tactics was made by Steven Gerrard for this game. In recent weeks we have seen many goals get past the Liverpool defense. Luckily they have the quality to score more than the opponent...A lot more.

So as the team entered the field we could already see that Diego Reyes had been swapped for Florenzi and dropped behind Henderson. Presumably to play the half back role Gerrard played two seasons ago.

The tactic was working. Reyes had dropped back to make a five man back line, but quite brilliantly managed to get up the field enough to help Henderson create goals for his side. Livepool took the lead in the 13th minute through Luis Suarez. Reyes pushed further up assisted Henderson in assisting Luis Suarez as the Uruguayan touched down a sublime pass from Henderson and smashed it into the bottom corner.

Liverpool finished off Spurs with two more brilliant goals from Brazilian Coutinho and Italian Lorenzo Insigne.
Insigne scored arguably the best goal of the game. His free kick from 25 yards out curled into the top right hand side of the goal from the left side of the box.

Paulinho scored a few minutes after Insigne. This would stay as just one goal though. Louis Van Gaals men were beaten by the Reds at White Hart Lane as Spurs were unable to score anymore. Presumably because of Paulinho's dismissal five minutes after his goal.

The Merseysid derby was now upon us. This looked a certain win for Liverpool due to Everton putting in a long run of horrible performances this season. The Blues loom right around the relegation zone, and so this would be even more of a motive to kill the toffees off.

Th Red's undoubtedly hate Everton and when the Blues came to play the Reds at Anfield they knew they'd be in for a treat. Liverpool destroyed them and were second to none in every single department.

3-0 was the final score. Thanks to Lorenzo Insigne's, Coutinho's, and Adam Lallana's first half goals, Liverpool secured a 3-0 win in this big Merseyside Derby. Adam Lallana assisted two of the three goals and scored the third. So the English right winger will take the man of the match award.

Liverpool would need a win here to ensure their qualification from their Champions League group. But A.C. Milan are no pushovers and will not let Liverpool get the better of them. Menez scored first for Milan. This was on the stroke of half time. Liverpool went into the dressing rooms a goal down.

The game was turned on it's head late into the game though, and in the space of ten minutes, Luis Suarez equalized and Jordan Henderson scored to put Liverpool a goal to the good.
Milan were no done though, and Robinho scored a last gasp goal to get a point for his team. This did indeed leave the Liverpool fans feeling really bitter.

Last but not least. Manchester United vs Liverpool. Another huge derby. The North West derby at old Trafford. This game could bring United closer to first placed Liverpool with a win, but Liverpool could go further into the lead at the top with a win in United's own back yard.

Jordan Henderson was given a chance just fifteen minutes into the game, and the tirless midfielder seized the chance to take the lead as he smashed a right footed shot hard and true into the top corner. One of the most furious and aggressive shots you'll ever see. He really wanted it badly.

Robin Van Persie leveled the score in the 40th minute which sent the game into half time with the two sides having a goal each to their names. Van Persie's placed shot from 15 yards was late in the first half of the game and would once again leave the Liverpool fans feeling bitter.

The game was far from over though. The second half brought us a winner, but who? Who would be the hero? That's right. Luis Suarez in the 80th minute was sent through on goal by Steven Gerrard, Henderson's 70th minute replacement and the Magician rounded the keeper and smashed it into the back of the net as hard as he could which would leave the United fans sickened.

Beaten by Liverpool in their own back yard. One of the worst things that can happen to Manchester united.

Gerrard's view

Gerrard: What a crazy month. Unbeaten in the entire month, and we even won every game in the league. Simply fantastic. Top of the league. That's all I can ask from the boys. They played out of their skin all month long and look where it's gotten them. I coulfn't be more happy. I mean...Winning five out of five in the league, passing to the Capital One Cup Quarters and getting into a position of needing one point to qualify through our group...On top of trouncing United and Everton.

I honestly have no words to describe my feelings...
Great month, well done!
Once again, great month!
Will be interesting to see how long you can keep this run going ;)

Liverpool Reject Bids For Borini

When he first cam to Liverpool, Fabio Borini was expected to turn into a fine striker. Yet...He didn't get off to a great start with the Reds'. With 13 appearances in the Premier League, Borini scored just one goal against Newcaslte. In those games, he struggle a lot, but let's not forget him being injured for most of the season.

A season later, he made a move to Sunderland on loan where he collected seven goals in around 20 appearances. A step up from last season's goal drought, but still no where near what Liverpool fans would be wanting from the Italian.

Still young, Brendan Rodgers gave the man another chance to prove himself in a season which saw the Champions league return to Anfield as they won their 6th trophy, and the Premier League in the Liverpool trophy cabinet.

In the Premier League alone, the boy netted seven goals in the 25 games that he played whilst also creating seven goals for teammates. It was his Champions League form that Impressed us all though. He proved everyone wrong and made it to fourth top scorer in the competition, joint 4th with Cristiano Ronaldo. Seven goals in the Champions League was enough to earn himself an extra year with Brendan Rodgers' side.

Brendan Rodgers was sadly taken ill just before the start of the pre-season preparations for the 2014/15 season and so Steven Gerrard took over as player manager. This is the season the Italian has really prevailed.

In twelve Premier League appearances he has scored eight goals. One more goal than he scored in 25 appearances last season. He also has an assist, and two man of the match awards topped off with a 7.17 average rating.
He's scored two goals in the Champions League this season, and a goal in the Capital One Cup.

So, what has this all earned Borini? Well firstly...Dignity. After an abysmal start he was slated not just by a few Liverpool fans but also by Manchester United fans, Chelsea fans and so on who were obviously doing this in an attempt to mock the player, and Liverpool

It's also earned him a starting spot with England's and Europe's best team. His current team Liverpool. He is a regular starter for the club now and it doesn't look like that will change as long as he keeps his great form up.

But the real surprise here, is that his recent form has seen the likes of Barcelona, Real Madrid and Juventus all have bids of around 20-25M for the player rejected by Liverpool's manager. yes, that's right. The Italian has attracted teams with Messi, Ronaldo, and Alvaro Negredo in them. Quite remarkable to think he was on loan at Sunderland just two years ago.

The Liverpool gaffer believes that Borini can offer a lot more to his squad, and believes he will improve highly in the coming year or so. This is the reason for these bids being rejected. Don't rule a move away from the club out though, these are big teams and Borini may want to leave to partner up with Messi or Ronaldo.
We'll leave you with what Steven Gerrard said about the player.

"Fabio is a top player. It's a weird thing to say because three years ago it looked like he'd be out of the club quicker than a flash. Instead he was given the chance with a loan to Sunderland.

The fact we are getting bids of this much from teams this big just shows how far he has come. I always had faith in him and right now he is repaying that. He's in the form of his life and I think it'll improve.

One day soon, he'll go down as an Italian great for sure. He'll do wonders for his Nation, and I hope he does as long as it's not against England. Borini will improve big time in this next year. He has a lot to offer us and we don't want him to leave the club. We love having him around as well, he's one of the friendliest people you'll ever meet."
Good work keeping him, he sure is a talent!
Quite amazing the difference between your Borini and real life Borini, however, nice update ;)

December - Goal Fest

Unbeaten in 18 games, Liverpool would head into the month of December with eleven consistent Premier League wins. West Brom would have their work cut out against the Premier League leaders especially with the game being at Anfield.

Expectedly, Liverpool were the team who came out on top and scored two before the break. Ewandro and Suarez both scoring the goals which set Liverpool two goals apart from the Baggies.
Ewandro sealed a great win for Liverpool 20 minutes before time.

It took a little bit of luck as a Suarez shot from just inside the box was deflected back out of the box off of McAuley but back into the box off of James Morrison. The ball fell to Ewandro and he placed it into the right bottom corner beautifully.

This fine run had to come to an end sooner or later didn't it? When Liverpool came to face Newcastle they would leave with nothing to show from the game for the first time in 18 matches.

They disappointed big time as Harnik scored a great goal in the 35th minute which left Reina baffled as to how he managed to creep his 30 yard pile driver into the top corner of the net. Newcastle dominated the entire game from start to finish 60/40.

Liverpool had their chances but couldn't take them and so left the game without having scored for the first time in seventeen games. Newcastle also had many chances to put the score beyond Liverpool but in the end, one goal was enough.

Liverpool didn't have any trouble scoring here though. Last time out against Kobenhavn, Liverpool won 3-0 at the Parken stadium and carried on where they left off with them at Anfield.
Liverpool Slaughtered Kovenhavn a whopping 7-0!!

Yes that's right. Liverpool beat Kobenhavn with seven goals to none and ensured that they would head into the Round of 16 at top spot in their group.
Who else, but Fabio Borini was the only player to bag a brace in this game. He scored the first two early on in the match.

Insigne and Markovic also got themselves on the score sheet from opposite sides of the field and Coutinho collected a second for the tournament.
Sakho just couldn't help himself either. The central defender got up the field for a late corner and pounded one down into the bottom of the net.

Liverpool continued their emphatic scoring form against Watford where former Liverpool striker and supporter Rickie Lambert would face his old club.

Raheem Sterling scored early on when he was slipped in by Nicola Murru. Sterling ran onto the ball which was set up nicely on the left side of the box for him to score the goal which put the Red's back into the lead.

Coutinho scored a couple of minutes later when another one of Sterling's shots was this time blocked and turned away from the goal. Only turned as far as the Brazilian attacking midfielder though who pounced on it to tap in a second.

Luis Suarez scored the third and final goal of Liverpool's sixty minutes in, but it wasn't long after that Rickie Lambert came back to his old club to score from the spot. He scored the final goal of the game, and Watford went home with nothing.

Liverpool got massively lucky in the next game. The Reds' would be looking to get another three points from a solid Stoke City side who seem to be roaming around near the top four every so often with West Brom. The two teams seem to have taken Arsenal's and City's places as the too huge English teams both sit in 10th and 9th place.

Lukas Podolski disappointed the Scousers by scoring the first goal from the spot in under two minutes of playing time.

Luckily, even after a whole hour and a half of complete dominance from Liverpool they FINALLY scored in the 90th minute through Insigne who was put through on goal by Reyes, and the Italian smashed it home!!

New Years Eve brought a delightful win to the Red Army as well. They took the spot in the Capital One Cup Semi Finals by beating off Middlesbrough. Suso scored two goals in this game. One from just a few yards out but the other from all of 35 yards! He smashed a volley from 35 yards out to lob the ball right over the head of Jason Steele.
Coutinho ended the game with a lovely placed shot past the keeper.

Gerrard's View

Gerrard: What a month. It's been up and down, but the main thing is we kept firm after the Newcaslte loss and went on to take an extra four from two games. Not the best though mind. I think we were really unlucky against Stoke, the keeper was in tip top form. Just one of those games I think. We did score though thankfully.

A goal glut as well for us against Kobenhavn. Couldn't believe that after losing to Newcastle. Truly brilliant win. We also had the Club World Championship midway through the month as well so we could put the blame on fatigue but I don't like making excuses really so I won't. They're professionals, they should be able to play as much as we need them to.
Anyway, we'll update you on the Championship separately as i think that seems more appropriate. Here's to getting to the COC final as well!
Another great update, shame about some of the results though.
Anyway, hopefully next month will be better, maybe a few new faces could make a difference.
Should be very interesting!
Really well written update mate! Keep up the great work big Stevie G! ;)
Pompey: Cheers man! Yeah I think that this month could have been a lot better, in terms of reults. The Stoke and Newcastle games were really disappointing because we dominated both.
And yes, I think a new player could really help us.

MCox: Cheers mate, I'm sure he will! :P

Club World Cup 2014/15

Liverpool's goal flurry in December, could only get better in the Club World Cup. After winning the European Champions League they would go head to head with teams from other regions of the World who also won their continental cups.

A 1-0 win for Moroccan side Wydad Casablanca over Tout Puissant Mazembe from Congo meant that they would go into the Club World Cup Semi Final's and face the outright favorites for the cup, Liverpool.

They did not have the best of games either. In fact they were so bad, that even Kobenhavn looked half decent. An incredible two hattricks were scored as well, and we watched six goals hit the net before we'd even reached half time.

Luis Suarez scored the first goal from a free kick in the first minute, and he leaped up high to reach a cross from Insigne to make it 2-0 within the five minutes we had already played.
Suarez finished up a twelve minute hattrick when he was put through on goal to slide it through the keepers legs.

Neven Subotic made the score 4-0, a little over two minutes after the third goal. His powerful header from a corner ensured that Liverpool would pretty much be in the Club World Cup Final against Santos.

There were still many more goals to come. More than we'd already seen in fact. Insigne made the score 5-0 upon 20 minutes...And finally we had more than ten minutes to wait for a goal. Mamadou Sakho this time scoring the 6th goal of the game just before half time struck.

The second half brought us three more goals, most of them coming later on in the game.
Insigne bagged his brace with a goal in the 60th minute. before he sealed a hattrick ten minutes later.
Jose Enrique finished up the game with a neat and tidy finish from fifteen yards when he was put in on goal, one on one with the keeper.

Liverpool, would play Santos in the Club World Cup Final. This time the game wasn't so one sided. The Brazilian outfit could actually put up a small fight here, but they still looked like they were just giving the trophy away.

Lazar Markovic scored to make the score 1-0 to Liverpool. Steven Gerrard placed a well timed pass in front of the right winger who used his pace to beat the last defender, pick up the ball, round the keeper and roll it into an empty net.

There wasn't much action for the next fourty minutes or so. All we saw was a couple of injuries, yellow cards to the likes of Luis Suarez Tiago Lázaro. Liverpool, actually managed to pick up six yellow cards in the space of just thirty minutes.

Sakho scored his second goal in two games to put Liverpool beyond Santos' reach. The Brazilian team would end up finding no way back from the two goal deficit and so, they conceded another late goal.

Suso was the player that set them three apart, ten minutes away from the final whistle. The Spaniard attacking midfielder scored this years final goal of the Club World Cup, and ensured Liverpool would take home their first ever Club World Cup.

Congrats on another trophy!
Another trophy, congrats! :D
great work winning the CWC, a great honour
