Suarez turns on the style, but Liverpool struggle.

January could have gone better for Liverpool after a 3-0 thumping from Leicester, and the dropping of two points to Aston Villa, but for Liverpool fans that would have nothing on this month, despite gaining nine points from a possible twelve in the Premier League.

This month marked the clubs first game back in the knockout stages against Schalke, but what it also marked was the day Manchester United scraped another late victory against the Reds.

But firstly, the month started off well, at Anfield when Tottenham came to town. The reds were up 1-0 within six minutes of the game after Vlad Chiriches put the ball into his own net, which spelt delight for Liverpool fans. Not so long after, Raheem Sterling scored the second goal of the game when a Luis Suarez shot was parried out by Hugo Lloris, leaving the empty net on show for the winger.

Paulinho scored a freekick just before half time was upon us, and the nerves started to creep in for Liverpool fans late on, despite having full control. Luis Suarez though, scored in the 80th minute to leave the Liverpool fans with something to shout about long into the night.

Next up though was the Manchester united game, and it wouldn't end a very happy match for the fans of Liverpool. The match itself was very exciting, and left the neutrals with something to speak about but the rivalry of the North West will battle on, especially after this.

Nani, scored Manchester United first goal early on in the game after just ten minutes. However, it did not take long for Liverpool to equalize as a cross from Sterling found Lazar Markovic open at the back post and the Serb had no problem nodding it in to the top corner.

Rooney scored just before the 30th minuted of the game, and then exactly ten minutes later Marouane Fellaini scored a free kick from just outside of the box. Half time was upon us, and Liverpool would not be happy, even if this was at Old Trafford.

A change of tactics saw Liverpool come out fighting in the second half, and it was none other than the unlikeliest person to score, who volleyed an incredible shot into the roof of the net as he, Jack Robinson was left unmarked on the edge of the box.

Liverpool fought and fought, and fought. And finally, they got their reward as Daniel Agger poked the ball into the net after a goal mouth scramble. 3-3.
But, we see it so often. The lucky Manchester United. and believe me when I say, this was lucky. A corner was spun in by Nani but headed out by Agger. It fell to Darren Fletcher who laced it with all the power in his boot, it was going over, but as Subotic went to try and head it away from where he thought it was going, he actually deflected it into the back of his own net, in the 88th minute of the game. Liverpool will not be pleased.

West Ham proved a little test as well, but they couldn't make any sort of mark. Sterling scored early in the second half, and it took another 2 minutes for Luis Suarez to net the winner. After this, Liverpool were no where near as good, and Zarate managed to pull one back, which really did nothing to damage the reds, but had the hammers got another, my god that'd have stung their title chances.

It was finally though back to the big time now, and the Liverpool fans, even away were in full voice for this one. Another early goal set Liverpool back five minutes in, but the fans roared on and spurred them on to goal that came from the magician Luis Suarez.

Ádám Szalai, pulled it back into Schalke's favour though on the 60th minute, but Liverpool caught them napping after the celevrations were over, and Fabio Borini scored his sixth goal of the tournament to bring the scores level on aggregate, and give Liverpool another away goal for when Schalke come to visit Anfield.

They drew last time, but the second time Liverpool learnt their mistakes from the previous game and came out on top against a QPR side battling for survival near the other end of the table. It wasn't the most dominant game we have seen from Liverpool, and they did struggle at times, but they got the job done, thanks to another goal from Luis Suarez.

Liverpool Announce Annual Youth Intake

Another year has passed for those young hopefuls looking to impress the scouts for an entrance into the youth academy at Liverpool. For some, the dream will remain just a dream. For others, the dream will become a reality as they embark on one of the greatest journey's they'll ever make. A journey footballs big time, the Premier League.

So who made it into Liverpool's youth side? Well let's take a look.

So as we can see there are around 13 players here, yet none of them really stand out as hot prospects according to Liverpool's Head of Youth Development, who said himself, that "whilst they will play football for the Liverpool u18s, none of them show much promise."
Except two others...

So here is the first of the two players that seem to show promise in the eyes of Liverpool head of Youth Development, John Brierley. According to Brierley, this player Philip Callery who is from England, shows a lot of ability as far as the technical side of the game goes, however he says that the mental side of the game for this player, isn't the greatest, and he lacks creativity right now, and unless this improves this are of his game, he won't be a Liverpool regular, and will most likely be moved on by Brendan Rodgers.

But the player is just 16 years old has a lot of time to improve on his game before he is brought to Liverpool's first team. With the right guidance from others like Coutinho and Gerrard, his 'creativity' will shoot up in no time.

The second player, is the most promising, and Brierley has said this player has the potential to become just as good as Liverpool legend Steven Gerrard. At 16 years old, this player already possesses the ability to play on occasion for Liverpool. Unlike Callery his mental stats are incredible for a player of his age and he is described as a real 'workhorse' by his coaches. His technical stats are also extremely good for his age.

We expect Grundy to turn out for Liverpool in the final games of the season (IF the league is already won by then) but we just don't think Callery has what it takes right now. So maybe we'll see him take part for the reds in the next few years.
Those two look great prospects!
The youth intake looks great!

Reds Produce goods To Progress

SUNDERLAND 0-2 LIVERPOOL | STURRIDGE X2
LIVERPOOL 4-0 BURNLEY | SUAREZ X2, ALLEN, LAMBERT
LIVERPOOL 3-0 SCHALKE (UCL) | STURRIDGE X3
HULL 0-2 LIVERPOOL | MARKOVIC, lUCAS
LIVERPOOL 1-0 SOUTHAMPTON | BORINI
LIVERPOOL 0-0 ARSENAL | N/A

We have come to the end of March now, and Liverpool will feel ever so close to bringing glory back to Anfield, with the Barclays Premier League Trophy in their sites. Dropping 2 points in the league all month, they will feel unbeatable.

The Reds took on Sunderland in the first game of the season, and the hero on that day was somewhat of a surprise to the fans. Daniel Sturridge scored the only two goals of the game, and I say surprise because he really hasn't been involved much this season, and when he has, he's not done a great deal to help. Top marks to him.

For some reason, the number 15 wasn't played in the next game, against Burnley. But the man in place of Sturridge, will be feeling delight as his Uruguayan magic helped other goal scorers Allen and Lambert to a win against Burnley.

But now, we know why Sturridge was rested. Back to Anfield in the Champions League Round of 16 against Schalke. After a 2-2 draw, Liverpool would either need to hold out to a 0-0 or a 1-1 draw, or a win of any sort. A loss will not do.

Sturridge scored the first goal of the game early on, to set the Germans back early, and his confidence was only seen to double in size, as was the scoreline, when Daniel Sturridge curled a finesse shot around Matip, and into the bottom corner. Late on, as Schalke looked absolutely wiped of any motivation, Sturridge came back to notch himself a hattrick as he prodded home a header from a corner, to book Liverpool a ticker to the Quarter Finals.

Markovic came up with the goods again for his new club as he scored against Hull City away from home, and surprisingly, Lucas Leiva managed to get himself on the score sheet after some scrappy set piece defending was punished by the Brazilian.

Borini finally scored his first Premier League goal for a good month or so, as a game against Southampton had to be won in the defensive department, after some serious opportunities that were dealt with well by Liverpool.

The month ended with a draw, for the first time, Liverpool dropped points this month, and it was against Arsenal, which won't disappoint them to much, a point isn't to bad, to a team as good as Arsenal, although they would have definitely preferred to win.

Excellent month Aaron, you're cruising at the top of the league ;)
Brickarms: They both look talented but I feel I can only bring Grundy up as a Liverpool legend. I wish I could for Callery but I think I will have to settle with making him half decent and selling him on for a sum of cash

Degs: It was probably the best I have ever had on FM tbh, and even still it's not great. But two great players have come through though which does make me happy.

Pompey: Cheers mate! One more good month and I think we can call it ours, but I won't take any lead for granted. Cheers for your comment! :)

Liverpool Set For Crunch Match, In Quarter Final

It's been an exciting few months in the Champions League. From great goals, to lucky goals. From upsets, to demolition jobs, we finally bring you the full Champions League group stage draw. England have the likes of Arsenal, Chelsea, and Liverpool in the competition. Juventus, from Italy still remain. Barcelona, Paris St Germain, and Barcelona also remain. The surprise of the tournament though, comes from Olympiakos who thrashed Real Madrid 3-0 to book a spot in this draw.

So, what does the draw look like? Well, all of the games look like they will provide anxiety along with excitement, and we are certain they won't disappoint. Here's the draw:

Chelsea vs Juventus
Paris St Germain vs Olympiakos
Liverpool vs Arsenal
Barcelona vs Bayern (Cue 7up jokes)

All exciting games to be played here. At least for England fans, we know that at least one team will definitely make it to the Semi finals. But who? Liverpool, or Arsenal? And can Chelsea make it past Juventus?

More questions could be asked, such as, can Barcelona get revenge and end their hurt by beating Bayern? Or can Olympiakos pull of another shock and thrash PSG like they did Madrid? Well, who knows? All I know, is that I will be looking forward to all games, and as a Liverpool fan, I will be routing on my team, and I am certain we can get through. Oh and remember that English football fan from the last draw? We caught up with him again, to see how he compares his last prediction, to his latest.

"I must say, I wrote Arsenal off, but they did well against Gala and they'll be looking forward to the next game against Liverpool. I think the game against Gala was always a win for the Gunners, but now comes a real test. I think this one could go either way actually, Liverpool will win at home, and Arsenal will win at home. I can't really separate the two.

"Chelsea, I think will pass on to the next round. Juventus are a bit like Arsenal in the Champions League. Even with such a good team, they can just never seem to do well. Chelsea on the other hand have been really good in Europe for the past few years."

Liverpool Lift Barclays Premier League

ARSENAL 4-2 LIVERPOOL | SUAREZ, BORINI
WEST BROM 2-2 LIVERPOOL | SUAREZ, COUTINHO
LIVERPOOL 2-0 ARSENAL | LALLANA X2
MANCHESTER CITY 0-1 LIVERPOOL | SUAREZ
LIVERPOOL 1-1 EVERTON | SKRTEL
LIVERPOOL 3-4 NEWCASTLE | STURRIDGE, SUAREZ, HENDERSON

It's by far one of the ugliest months in the premier League and Champions League Liverpool have had this season, but somehow, they have come out of it with a Premier League trophy and a place in the semi finals of the Champions League. So how did they fair this month?

It got off to a really horrible start at Arsenal, in the Champions League. In just 45 minutes, Berardi, Mertesacker, and Arteta scored to put the Gunners 3-0 ahead, and it was only a few minutes into the second half that they made it 4. It was going from bad to worse for Liverpool in this game, but out of no where, a glimpse of life. Suarez netted one goal for Liverpool exactly a minute after Arsenal scored their fourth, and Borini, 10 minutes from time nodded in a cross from Allesandro Florenzi, which gave Liverpool hope with 2 away goals.

It was all looking good though at the Hawthorns. 12 minutes gone, 2 goals scored for Liverpool by Suarez and Coutinho. They were cruising. But wait...In came the deadly duo, Nicklas Bendtnar, and Peter Crouch to punish the reds with two very late goals!

It was now back to Champions League at Anfield this time round, and Liverpool would need to goals or more. Nothing else would do. 2 goals, and they win. Where did Rodgers look to? He looked to Mr Reliable, Adam Lallana, and the right winger did not fail in impressing as he scored not just one, but TWO! As he dragged his club through broken glass and nails to take them into the Champions League Semi Final.

They carried on the winning form as well at the Etihad against Manchester City. Distancing themselves from the title contenders. 1-0 the score ended and Luis Suarez would turn out the hero in this clash.

It was all square though back at Anfield, as yet another Merseyside derby ended in a bore draw. Martin Skrtel gave Liverpool the lead, but they couldn't hold onto it, and dropped two points.

The last game of the month, would be the most significant though. Liverpool, would need to draw, or win to have the rights to lift the Barclays Premier League trophy, but instead they chose to do it the hard way against Newcastle, as their opponents took the lead 4 times in the game, with Ben Arfa scoring a hattrick, thanks to two penalties, and a placed shot from inside the box. However, the first of the two penalties, should not have been one. Liverpool gave it their all however, and goals from Luis Suarez, Henderson and Sturridge, nearly saw them clinch the title with a point.

But somewhere, an angel was watching over Liverpool, as Manchester united and Everton played out to a 0-0 draw. Manchester United needed three points to keep their hopes alive. But no...Liverpool, for the first time in their history have WON THE PREMIER LEAGUE!

Why transfer Lallana and Lambert to Liverpool but not Suarez to Barca?
Donkey: I'm using an update from before Suarez left Liverpool
Congrats on the league! What a victory! Hopefully you can lift the CL, then it would be a history defining season! :D
