QPR 1-1 LIVERPOOL | STURRIDGE
Another month has passed, and Liverpool have once again shown the power they hold. With four wins in five and some extremely surprising dominant wins, Liverpool are making themselves look more and more like serious challenger by the day.
Liverpool's first game came to Bayer Leverkusen, their second in the Champions League. Raheem Sterling scored early for the reds in the 11th minute and it took just an extra four for Saponara to strike again. Bayer, though...Hit back with their own goal from Kiesling, but that was instantly canceled out by Fabio Borini's first ever Champions League goal, in his first ever Champions League game. Kiesling took advantage of Liverpool's defensive calamities again just two minutes later and then again in the 41st minute to send the game into extra time with six goals shared between the two teams.
Liverpool came out all guns blazing once more, and Fabio Borini stabbed in his second of the night from a low cross from the Heart of Liverpool's midfield. Coutinho. Ten minutes from time, Borini scored again, sealing himself a hattrick on his Champions League debut and Liverpool the three points.
West Ham, would try their hand at taking down the mighty reds at Anfield next but they were strucken down with a mighty blow to their relegation battle, as Liverpool's Lallana and Suarez helped their team onto another tree points.
Then it was Sunderland who would be staring defeat in the eye. Liverpool, once again took their chances at Anfield and managed to end the game with a massive 5-1 win. Agger, Henderson, Sturridge, Suso and that man Borini who is really settling down with the team all scored in this crucial game. Which put them even further ahead at the top.
Next was the biggest test of the month. Atletico Madrid. A team that won La Liga at the final steps last season and narrowly missed out on a Champions League trophy. Could Liverpool Break them down as they have done to Roma and Leverkusen?
Well, it was Atletico who started the better team, and they took the lead only seven minutes in through Turan, and they looked like they would score again, but would regret missing their next few chances as Coutinho volleyed the ball in over the keeper from outside the box. A James Rodriquez-esque finish.
Second half was an entirely different story. Liverpool were on fire! Agger nodded home their second from a corner on 60 minutes and it wasn't long before a 3rd was seen bulging the net. A shot from Borini, that was. And then only two minutes later, Borini scored his second and Liverpool's fourth making himself leading goal scorer in the Champions League. Who'd have thought it. Everyone expected Liverpool to be destroyed, but instead it was Atletico who had absolutely nothing to show from their performance.
The reds fell short of expectations in the last game. The easiest game of the month was thought to be this one. QPR. But no, the Rangers did put up a good fight and Liverpool could only get the one goal. They were winning right up until the final 20 minutes of the game and it was then that Loic Remy brought joy to the R's.
A fantastic month for Liverpool. All they need to do is work on their defending, and find that extra motivation to go on and see the game out. Good title winning sides don't always batter teams left right and centre. They scratch out results, and they win dirty whenever they need to. Something Liverpool are only just starting to do.
