Robak Calls For Professionalism

http://gfx.mmka.pl/newsph/456577/1355669.3.jpg

Pogon Szczecin captain Marcin Robak has spoken out on social media today, pleading for no complacency in the playing group despite the comfortable odds for Pogon to stay up. Robak, who is currently equal leading goalscorer in the Ekstraklasa with 11, had this to say on Twitter.

C'mon Pogon do not be complacent. Keep your mind to a task , and we will survive! #Survive #InLodovicoWeTrust

Pogon Szczecin will be fighting it out in the Relegation Phase of the Ekstraklasa, although pundits are tipping them to survive comfortably after a very solid end to the season. Sean-Paul Lodovico's arrival seems to have brought change and one is Robak's new lease of life. The captain is scoring once more, and hopefully his teammates can rally to his cause and survive the drop this season.

So, the day has finally come! After an incredible first month of Doing It Down Under!/Pogon: Polska Power!, I got nominated for SOTM in my first month, subsequently shared the award with Neal and now I've hit 10k views! So my Anchorman reference is pretty relevant then :))

As this is my first major milestone, I'd like to take the time to thank some people.

Firstly, Walter, who made my banners and also kept me motivated. Walt is a great guy to talk to and a good role model on the site.

Tallery is another big part of the story, as he creates my re-usable graphics. Thanks to him my updates look crisp and clean and I'd definitely recommend him as a brilliant graphic creator.

Then I think I have to include Justice, who never really comment (except to show off his regens :P ) but he did come up with the name Sean-Paul Lodovico so credit to him. :P

Then there's my loyal cohort of regular readers, who have gotten me here pretty much. In no particular order, I would like to thank Walter, Griffo, Neal and squirmy420 as they have carried my story to this point.

And of course thankyou to the countless people who have accidentally clicked on my story and given me extra views :))

And just to cap it off, I'm gonna drop some Anchorman references. (sarcasm may be included)

Pogon Fall To Defensive-Minded Cracovia

http://s40.photobucket.com/user/fzemdegs/media/Untitled_zpse82b8f07.png.html

The teams huddle up before kick off

Pogon manager Sean-Paul Lodovico was given a dose of his own medicine when his side went down to Cracovia 1-0 today at Floriana Krygiera. The win was reminiscent of his game plan in place at both the Newcastle Jets and Pogon Szczecin as Cracovia nabbed an early goal before sitting back and defending.

Pogon XI- Janukiewicz, Tortosa, Piter-Bucko, Hernani, Lewandowski, Golla, Kun, Akahoshi, Wisniewski, Pietruszka, Robak (c)

Subs- Kudla, Tadrowski, Rogalski, Brzyski, Kuswik, Blajewski, Bak

The game started at a brisk pace, with Cracovia having most of the possession but Pogon looked ready to counter. However in the 8th minute Pogon lost possession whilst moving forward and were left vulnerable. Takafumi Akahoshi was stranded upfield after being tackled and his man Danielewicz managed to squeeze into the box unnoticed. He calmly put it past Radoslaw Janukiewicz and Cracovia jumped out to an early 1-0 lead.

Pogon's confidence began to waver, and in the 16th minute a long clearance from the Cracovia goalkeeper was misjudged by Michel Piter-Bucko. Rabiola was onside and through on goal but luckily he kicked it into Janukiewicz and Piter-Bucko was saved.

The second half kicked off, and the Pogon fans wished their team for more. Unfortunately, Cracovia secured their win by parking the bus and the lack of Murayama and Brzyski through injury showed as Robak was not delivered enough quality chances.

In the end, Cracovia ran out 1-0 winners and furthered their lead at the top of the Relegation Phase table. Meanwhile results played in Pogon's favour and they remain in 3rd. Pogon will travel to take on Ruch Chorzow next weekend.
Disappointing first result - but you can still fight back fairly easily, really like how the league has this "relegation league" - how many games are in it?
Unlucky about the result but I'm sure you can fight back and stay up!
Aw man, unlucky result but hey, I'm sure you can get back on track with a win!
Xander 7 games in total, we play each team once

Walter I hope so

Josh_MU It was unlucky but we should bounce back :D

Mid-Table Clash Ends A Draw

http://s40.photobucket.com/user/fzemdegs/media/Untitled_zps3f493dd8.png.html

The match between Pogon and Ruch Chorzow failed to produce a winner

3rd and 4th played off today in Chorzow and it predictably finished in a 1-1 draw. Pogon Szczecin almost secured the away win after a incredulous goal but a careless mistake late in the game cost them and Ruch Chorzow walked away with a lucky point.

Pogon XI- Janukiewicz, Tortosa, Hernani, Tadrowski, Brzyski, Golla, Kun, Akahoshi, Wisniewski, Lewandowski, Robak (c)

Subs- Kudla, Lisowski, Rogalski, Kuswik, Koj, Pietruszka, Jamroz

Early on, Ruch Chorzow's passing tore some gaps in the Pogon defence and in the 8th minute, they passed around the box extremely well resulting in a great chance for Mehdi Kabine. However, Radoslaw Janukiewicz managed to parry the shot and the resulting follow up to keep the game at 0-0.

The rest of the half was tentative at best, and up until the 62nd minute the game was in a bit of a lull. That was to change however as Tomasz Brzyski, on return from injury, took a free kick on the halfway line. The high, curving ball landed in the box. Initially, it looked as if Wisniewski got a foot on it and put it past the Ruch keeper, but video analysis showed that it was in fact Brzyski's goal, and Pogon took the lead from an incredible strike.

With 8 minutes to go, the tempo of the game picked up and Ruch Chorzow's Sanusi almost put one in the bottom corner. Luckily for Pogon, Janukiewicz saw it wide.

Then in the 86th minute disaster struck for Pogon. Mehdi Kabine, who was about to shoot was caught at the ankles by a mistimed Hernani tackle. The referee wasted no time in pointing at the spot and also showed Hernani the yellow card. Ryan Sanusi converted the penalty kick and although Ruch Chorzow went down to 10 men after a red card in the 89th minute, Pogon had no time to capitalise and the match finished 1-1.

After the draw, both teams have dropped a position with Pogon currently laying in 4th and Ruch 1 below them. Pogon will be considered unlucky not to have won, although their goal was less than ordinary. Meanwhile, Ruch Chorzow will be grateful they at least walked away with a point after dominating much of the proceedings.
Draw > loss. Think of it that way :P Nice write up, too
