Lodovico Wants More

http://s40.photobucket.com/user/fzemdegs/media/Untitled_zps7b8f3cd8.png.html

Pogon boss Sean-Paul Lodovico is calling for a better effort from his players after they started their Relegation Phase campaign disappointedly. The Szczecin team, who were heavily favoured after a very strong finish to their regular season campaign, have failed to live up to expectations, losing to Cracovia and drawing with Ruch Chorzow. Although the team are still comfortably in 4th position, they will need to improve their performances otherwise they stand a chance of become relegated.

Pogon Szczecin will come up against a tough task in Jagiellonia next week, but after some promising performances against the likes of Gornik Zabrze and Zawisza in the later stages of the season, they will be optimistic about their chances. The return of Takuya Murayama on the right wing should bring some hope into the side, however they have also been hit hard by suspensions with Hernani and Takafumi Akahoshi missing the next game. With 5 games left in the Relegation Phase, Pogon currently sit in 4th position just 2 points clear of the relegation zone.

Jagiellonia Get Job Done At Home

http://s40.photobucket.com/user/fzemdegs/media/Untitled_zps222ed279.png.html

The Jagiellonia ultras sang loudest after today's match

Jagiellonia secured a 2-0 win over Pogon today at Sloneczna after Pogon's defence was battered by omissions. Maciej Gajos scored a wonderful brace and was one of the main factors in his team's win.

Pogon XI- Janukiewicz, Tortosa, Tadrowski, Golla, Lewandowski, Rogalski, Blajewski, Kun, Murayama, Wisniewski, Robak (c)

Subs- Kudla, Pietruszka, Kuswik, Ouedrago, Brzyski, Lisowski, Porzezinski

The game began at a quick pace, and Jagiellonia's wingers seemed to get the better of Pogon's full backs. Radoslaw Wisniewski was far too aggressive in the box as he slid in for a tackle in the 5th minute. He grazed Porcellis' leg and failed to make contact with the ball, giving the referee sufficient evidence to award the penalty. However, Maciej Gajos's spotkick was saved by Radoslaw Janukiewicz and Pogon were saved.

However 10 minutes later Gajos made up for it, when Pogon's defence faltered. Janukiewicz pulled off a fine save but the ball was up in the air and they failed to clear. Gajos ran in and made it 1-0 for Jagiellonia with a well controlled header.

In the 25th minute Murayama was denied a great chance for Pogon and in the 41st minute Gajos was offside and denied a great goal. The half saw quite a few quality chances but it ended with Jagiellonia holding a 1-0 win.

Pogon almost equalised an hour in, as Radoslaw Wisniewski was judged to have been offside from a Mateusz Lewandowski through ball. They would have rued that missed opportunity as just 4 minutes later Jagiellonia exploited Pogon's inability to clear the floated crosses and Gajos sealed a brace and a 2-0 lead.

Jagiellonia continued to dominate the game and eventually they ran out 2-0 winners in front of their home crowd. Pogon's midfield endured a shocking day, creating far too few chance whilst their defence was even worse. The losses of Hernani through suspension and Michel Piter-Bucko through injury meant 2 young players, both accustomed to playing elsewhere, were started and they lacked the height for Jagiellonia's crossing game. Maciej Gajos's heading was lethal and he collected the man of the match award for his 2 goals.

Luckily, results have fallen in Pogon's favour so they sit in 5th, but they are just a point ahead of last and need to improve drastically or face the drop. The return of Hernani, Akahoshi and Piter-Bucko should improve the side in their next game against GKS Katowice.
:/ Hopefully you can bounce back soon and avoid relegation.
Unlucky to lose, keep fighting for points!
Walter I hope so

Justice Definitely, I'll need as many points as possible

Pogon Can't Find A Win

http://s40.photobucket.com/user/fzemdegs/media/Untitled_zps97e4c0b8.png.html

Cellar dwellars GKS Katowice has drawn with Pogon today after a topsy turvy match in which both teams had some ascendency. Pogon captain Marcin Robak stole the show with 2 goals but the real headline was Pogon's lack of capitalisation against a weaker team.

Pogon XI- Janukiewicz, Tortosa, Hernani, Tadrowski, Brzyski, Golla, Kun, Akahoshi, Murayama, Pietruszka, Robak (c)

Subs- Kudla, Koj, Lewandowski, Kuswik, Lisowski, Wisniewski, Jamroz

Pogon looked sure to start proceedings positively after just 3 minutes, but the finish was lacking from Dominik Kun and Budzilek saved comfortably for Katowice. They regretted it just 2 minutes later as Rafael Pietrzak converted a far harder shot on the angle and gave Katowice a 1-0 lead just 5 minutes in.

GKS Katowice led at the interval, and the fans at Floriana Krygeria grew restless of Pogon's inability to create chances. They were finally satisfied just 5 minutes after the break as club captain Marcin Robak headed it in at ferocious pace to make it 1-1.

Just after the hour mark, Robak sent the fans into raptures when he struck Julien Tadrowski's pass first time, into the net. The comeback had been completed but was soon nullfied when Inigo Velez muscled his way into the box and scored after the ball had rebounded off the post from a free kick, making the game even at 2-2.

But then disaster struck for the away team as Rafal Kosnik was double booked and Katowice went down to 10 men with 15 minutes remaining. Luckily for Kosnik, Pogon could not capitalise and the match ended, to the dismay of Pogon, 2-2.

After this match, Pogon have now collected just 2 points from 4 games and sit in the relegation zone above their opponents, Katowice. Eyebrows are now being raised as Pogon's consistency has plummeted. Perhaps the end of season run was simply good luck, but whatever it was Pogon need to make the most of their last 3 games should they wish to survive the drop.
Unlucky. lets get some wins!
I still can't believe you signed Dylan Macallister...
Yikes, a pretty difficult first season in charge... looked like it was starting to turn around at the end of the normal season though so fingers crossed you can find that form again to keep out of the dreaded relegation zone of the relegation competition (loving the Polish league set up... just plain makes sense!).

Would be great to see the table after each match though if possible :)

Awesome story, well deserved SOTM! I am hooked...

Lodovico Heavily Linked With Udinese

http://s40.photobucket.com/user/fzemdegs/media/Untitled_zps2d56c1fc.png.html

Udinese is yet to release any information but it is rumoured that Lodovico contacted them first

Relegation-threatened Pogon's fans have plenty to worry about, as their manager Sean-Paul Lodovico looks to be on Udinese's radar after the Pole/Aussie contacted the Serie A club's board. Francesco Guidolin's position is very insecure at the current time and many suggest Lodovico is a fresh face that can make some change at a club which has been under Guidolin for 5 years now.

Sean-Paul Lodovico burst onto the managerial scenes in 2013, when the 25 year old turned the fortunes of A-League club Newcastle United Jets around and led them to an unsuccessful Grand Final. He crossed to his native homeland Poland in November and has also improved the performances of Pogon Szczecin. However, their form recently has collapsed and stay stand a very good chance of becoming relegated. Lodovico, who has stated that his end goal is to manage boyhood club Legia Warsaw, is evidently looking to further his reputation elsewhere rather than struggle in the lower echelons of the Ekstraklasa. His club will play their 3rd to last Relegation Phase tomorrow.
Always liked Udinese, not even sure why... just like the sound of it i suppose... definitely a step in the right direction though. Good luck
