Heskey Makes Shock Move To Sydney FC

http://s40.photobucket.com/user/fzemdegs/media/Untitled_zps1e968579.png.html

New Sydney FC manager Sean-Paul Lodovico has wasted no time getting busy on the transfer market, with the shock signing of former English international Emile Heskey as player/coach. The pair worked together at the Newcastle Jets and both were pleased with the signing.

Heskey has been signed on a one year deal, and if he plays 15 games this season he will get an automatic contract renewal. This means that Sydney FC have the 2 oldest players in the competition with 40 year old Alessandro Del Piero and 37 year old Heskey, and Lodovico seems to be taking a very different approach from when he was Jets manager.

Heskey will be giving a chance to impress against Melbourne Heart next weekend.
HESKY, HESKY, HESKY!!! Nuff Said

I am actually jelous, a Sidney save with both Heskey & Del Piero - Wish I had done that lol. Might aswell bring in Bendtner too, so you can have the trident of dreams up front.

Nothing can quite beat experience, with a combined age strike parternship of 77 years you certainly have plenty of that! :P
Good luck mate :)

Heskey still has it in him, despite being 37

So my first 2 games as Sydney FC manager have been and gone and I quickly established that this would be very different to the Jets. Newcastle were based around youngsters, but Sydney FC are the opposite. There are no less than 6 first teamers over 30, and our striker partnership totals a phenomenal age of 77! Let's have a look at the start of a new chapter in Lodovico's Legacy!

We had a historic line up going into my first match in charge of the Sky Blues, with the striker partnership of Alessandro Del Piero (40) and Emile Heskey (37) breaking numerous records. However, all this experience was not enough to beat a determined Melbourne Heart outfit. They tore us apart at their home ground, although it took them 70 minutes to break the deadlock as Jackson Irvine put it into his own net. The Heart extended their lead in the 89th minute when Janjetovic couldn't stop Mate Dugandzic's shot which squeezed into the bottom right corner. In the end, we were beaten by the better team and we'll need to improve.

Positives Heskey and ADP in the same team...

Negatives Heskey and ADP in the same team doing shite....

I lined up with the same 4-4-2, but I was considering pulling the attacking tactic and going for my old counter-attacking 4-3-3, but then Heskey happened. 3 minutes in, his expertly guided header gave us an early lead and showed me Da Beast is still Da Beast. However, my cheers were soon silenced as Kwame Yeboah scored a fine finish just 6 minutes later. Just after half time we made it 2-1 us Rhyan Grant's cross managed to hit the back of the net unassisted. But Perth Glory wouldn't back down, and Yeboah scored his second, and I thought it was going to be a draw until. 83rd minute. Heskey. HESKEY. HESKEYYYYYYYYYY. We won 3-2 on the back of a wonder brace from old man Heskey. What a LAD.

Positives HESKEY. DA BEAST.

Negatives Definitely some defensive flaws.

After those 2 games we're still in 8th but I reckon we could improve a lot more and glide up the table.

Player Of The Month

Emile Heskey

Da Beast showed his worth at 37, kicking 2 goals to give us the win over Perth Glory. The experienced striker still has it in him at this age, and should work well with Del Piero this season.

Next time on Doing It Down Under v2.0, we'll talk one on one with Heskey about his move to Sydney FC!
A mixed start for sure, but fairly standard for a new manager. Nice to see Heskey rewarding your faith in him though!

A question for him from ITV Sport at his press conference: 'How does it feel knowing that despite being so poorly regarded during your English career you are now a cult hero to football fans the world over?' ;)
