Former Everton captain and current first team coach Duncan Ferguson has revealed that he would snap at the chance to manager Everton should he be asked.
Ferguson is already working at Everton having joined initially as a youth coach in 2011. The 43-year-old former Scotland international spent two and a half years working with the club's under-18s. In February 2014, Ferguson was promoted to a first team coaching role after impressing boss Roberto Martinez with his management of the youngsters.
Speaking to BBC Sport, Ferguson revealed that he'd love the chance to manage Everton.
"I'm not going to lie, I'd love the chance to manage Everton. I absolutely love the club and its fans and that's why I'm here now. I've really enjoyed my time coaching under Roberto Martinez and I feel I'm ready to take the step up. The step up would also be made easier considering the fact that I know the players and have been working with them for a while now."
"At the end of the day though, it's up to the chairman Bill Kenwright. I've made my interest known to him so the ball is in his court. He knows me well and knows what I am capable of as a coach, it's just whether he thinks I can make the step up. Even if he doesn't choose me as the new manager, I'll be continuing my work here at Everton and I'll support whoever the new manager is. I have no plans to leave Everton."
