Wycombe Wanderers - The Summer of 69

Probably the best story you'll read all day, okay, maybe not, but you know, have a nose.

Some nice wins especially the one against Anderlecht :P

Bit tighter at the top than ideal but, hard to complain when top
Keep it up dude going well!
Six wins from six is quite a statement to make at the start of the season.... time to push on and push away from the other title contenders!
Ninjaskill: yeah if all the teams around us could just back off a lil that'd be great xD
BeanyUnited: Cheers man, always appreciated
Justice: The boys have learnt how to start a season, hard not to steamroll when you've got lads like Coureur and Masawudu playing so well

October 2172/73

Another great month for the MIGHTY DUCKS as we look to push on and take the league by storm, we're a forced to be reckoned with this season, no doubt. The Premier League better watch it's back, as well as those unlucky enough to come across us in the Champions League.

A blotch of yellow

We looked as though we may struggle in this one, Masawudu's effort was pegged back by the hammers before half time, we went in 2-1 up thanks to their centre back. After the half time oranges went round, there was no stopping us, Lawson and Sainrimat making the scoreline look rather comfortable in the end.

Another day, another 4 in the oppositions net. Crystal Palace were the victims this time, but they may feel slightly robbed as they took the lead 2 times! Our 2 major deals both netted in this one, it seems Coureur is becoming an oddly common name on the scoresheet, good on the lad.

Booooo! Everyone hates a 0-0 draw, and it's even worse when it's again a European Giant of the modern day, and still a good team even in the 2170's. Truth be told, I didn't expect this kind of challenge, they bought their A game and took it to us, a hard fought result for the Catalans, I wonder whether they're independent by 2172?

Okay, this may be one of the most one-sided games I've ever managed, we dismantled the foxes at home, taking 29 shots with not a single response! Scully got a run out in this one and gave me reasons to give him another soon, however, once again, Lawson bagged, 3 in 4 this month.

Slight rotation for the League Cup game against Arsenal, and enough for us to squeeze through as victors by a 2-0 margin. It's always nice to see Ibrahim on the score sheet, especially given his cup-based antics of last year. Once again Lawson bags, 4 in 5.

Why not finish the month with a bang ey? Sainrimat got to play, and score 2 against the club who he saved from relegation last year, we were 6-2 and cruising, but let Preston in to make the scoreline closer than the game was, 10 goals in a game is always fun. The game also allowed Lawson to make his total 6 goals in 6 for this month, bagging 2 early on.

Player of the Month

He's been fantastic this month, a different class of player in all honesty. He picked up numerous MOTM awards and has been our hero throughout the month, often starting the scoring to get us to kick on into big wins. I am of course referring to our English right winger, Steve Lawson.

Flop of the Lot

Kimbell has struggled a tad with fitness this month, allowing this lad to have a run out from time to time, unfortunately, his performances have been very poor, lacking the ability to play at our level. He was always rotation, but I don't want to rotate with him much more...Unlucky, Liam Brown.

Coasting

8 points clear after only 10 games, sounds like my kind of league. It feels a tad like the Italian or French league of the present day, but I do not mind, the lack of pressure SO FAR on the league front allows us to look into Europe. Maybe, just maybe, this is our year.

No rest for the wicked

We have to keep going, November and the winter chaos will be at our door before we know it, and here's the November fixtures. As you can see, we finish our Champions League group this month, so you may know our next tie by then, providing we qualify of course. Additionally, a few mid-table Premier League clashes could spell our undoing, they're always tricky.

Until then, thanks for reading, really appreciate it, as always, comments will be reciprocated.

Thanks a bunch, Alex
Was just thinking to myself that your defence looked good and they went and shipped four goals the next game :P

Anyway good lead in the league looking good so far this season
NinjaSkill: Phaha indeed, still not quite sure what happened there if I'm honest. Yeah hopefully we keep this form up
I'd imagine the game against Preston was certainly one to offer you mixed feelings! So many ups and downs in that game :P
It's so surreal to look at that table and seeing Arsenal with no wins whatsoever at the foot of the league... Oh... Wait. ;)

WE DROPPED POINTS

A tragedy has hit the MIGHTY DUCKS today as we dropped points in the league finally, after such a long run of winning games consistently, we finally found ourselves dropping a point for once.

Plenty of games

A much better performance against Barcelona than last time, Masawudu was our man for this game, scoring a hat-trick to push us past a notoriously tricky Barcelona. He was on fire in this one, taking a 9.5 ratin and the match ball home, what a player.

I'm not going to lie, I felt a little bit robbed after this one, we had 16 shots to their 5 and they scored off a last minute Daouda own goal, he never seems to be in luck as he diverted a shot going just wide into the bottom corner, the poor lad. Therefore, we drew our first game, but we remain unbeaten!

This game began as quite the struggle, we seemed to be in recoil from the Sheffield United result, however, I changed the formation to a 4-2-2-2 and it paid the team back tenfold. Sainrimat came on at the half hour mark and changed the game, scoring a hat-trick off the bench to score a 9.6 rating and truly get the Sainrimat hype going, could he displace Dzafic as our leading man.

A slightly rotated side battered Anderlecht, Ibrahim had a stormer to show he's still usable in the right amount. Now at 33 years old we can't stretch him too far but in games like this it's lovely to see him run riot. Scully also had a full 90 and duly delivered with a 9.1 rating.

Sainrimat showed his ability to lead the line once again, scoring 2 and making this game a comfortable win in the end, especially after their centre back was sent off after 30 mins. 2-0 was a result to take, a good job by the lads.

We'd already qualified for the Champions League by this game, I probably should've rotated even more than I did, we didn't need the win after all. However, Ibrahim tapped home early to put us 1-0 up and it stayed that way for the duration of the game, good defense and clinical attack did the job, but like I said, the result didn't matter.

Player of the Month

This man is slowly scoring his way to a place in my heart, signed for 500k from Le Havre a couple of years back, I don't think even he imagined leading the line for us in the not to distant future. Now, at 22 years old, I'm certain Sainrimat can do it after his great displays against Fulham and Watford, a very good month for this man.

Flop of the Lot

Bad fortune had a big role in this man's collection of this award, a sad own goal denied us another flawless month in the league, and unfortunately this man was responsible. Of course, it wasn't just that, he hasn't been great as of late, he always seems to struggle, a sad month for Daouda.

The Standings

9 points clear, we're looking good to dominate the league from here, too far ahead to be caught? I don't know, we still have some VERY tough games coming up, you wait until you see our December fixtures, I feel after we get through that month, that's when we can truly look at whether we'll win it this year. Also, for those nosy buggers, here's our champions league group.

A tough, tough run.

This will be hard, 6 games against some top teams all in one month, the most congested fixture month in the Premier League season. We will need luck, sheer determination and some quality play. I believe in the lads, we can run away with the league if we survive this month, here goes...

Thanks for reading, all comments will be reciprocated,

Thanks, Alex
RIP 100% record, but still way ahead at the top!
Impeccable month, you're absolutely shredding up that league! Long live Wycombe Wanderers, the kings of English football ;)
Justice: we will mourn it's loss indefinitely

Jack: Phahah thanks for such a great compliment, think your Bradford lads would have something to say about that
Had a feeling you might win the league again :P
I can't catch a break

It's seems I'm destined not to get nominated for SOTM, I had intended for August to be my month as I had a clear run, able to post atleast every 2 days. However, my laptop has given up the ghost without any warning and therefore, it's game over for now. Let's hope this is a temporary hiatus, I'm beyond annoyed I've been put down by a technical difficulty.

Thank-you for reading, I hope this isn't my farewell
