SERIE D GROUP B UPDATE: PARMA QUALIFY FOR SEMI FINALS

25 May 2016

Parma’s players applaud their home fans as they progress to the Semi Finals of the Scudetto Poule.
________________________________________

15.05.2016: AS Gubbio 0-5 Parma
Goals: Alessandro Lucarelli 26, 59, Daniele Melandri 74, Marcello Sereni 77, 88.

Goals from Marcello Sereni and Daniele Melandri alongside Alessandro Lucarelli’s first two goals of the season handed Parma an easy 5-0 victory over AS Gubbio in their opening fixture in their search for the Serie D Scudetto. Paolo Vanoli’s men were in front after 26 minutes when Simone Edera’s corner floated towards Francesco Corapi who headed the ball back out to Simone Corazza. The forward’s effort was heading wide of the goal, but Alessandro Lucarelli was free at the back post to prod home the loose ball and give Parma an early lead.

It remained 1-0 until after half time when the flood gates opened, and Parma hit the ground running. The second goal of the game came in the 59th minute as another Edera corner found its way to Alessandro Lucarelli who, this time headed powerfully into the goal to make it 2-0. In the 74th minute, Parma were 3 goals ahead as Daniele Melandri collected the ball from Francesco Corapi, taking a touch before firing a low effort past the Gubbio goalkeeper, before in the 77th minute Marcello Sereni made it 4 by latching onto Simone Edera’s cross to guarantee that Parma were taking home the three points. The scoring was rounded off in the 88th minute as Sereni latched on to another cross, this time from Francesco Luoni, heading the ball home to seal a big 5-0 win for Parma that took them one step closer to progressing to the semi finals of the Scudetto tournament.

25.05.2016: Parma 0-0 Chieti

A 0-0 draw at home to Chieti was enough to send Parma into the Semi Finals of the Serie D Scudetto knockout tournament. In a game where neither side created too many match winning chances, it was a tense and cagey affair, although both sides did try to play the attractive football that saw them win their regional Girones, and both sides will be looking forward to positive campaigns in Lega Pro next season. For Parma though, they have a semi final to look forward to as Chieti finished second in the group with only two points.

Wooo! Congrats!
Well... a 5-0 win is okay I suppossseee.... haha

PARMA ANNOUNCE SEVERIN DEAL

26 May 2016

Yoan Severin, seen training here with his former team mates, was released by Juventus at the end of the Serie A season.
________________________________________
- Defender to sign on a free transfer after being released by Juventus
- Never made a single league appearance for the Old Lady
- Is excited to join his new team and help them in their bid to win promotion to Serie B

Parma have today confirmed their second signing since they were promoted from Serie D, by acquiring former Juventus central defender Yoan Severin on a free transfer. He becomes Parma’s second signing of the summer after Mattia Minesso was confirmed in April. The youngster was released by Juventus at the end of the Old Lady’s title winning Serie A campaign, after never making an appearance for Juve, and as such will join Paolo Vanoli’s team ahead of their first season back in the Lega Pro. Severin is believed to have signed a three year deal at the Ennio Tardini that will keep the defender at Parma long enough for Severin to be able to help the team into the second tier of Italian football.

After being released by Juventus at the end of the Serie A season, Severin is free to train with his new club, although he will not be able to play for the club during their ongoing Scudetto campaign. However after several days training with his new team mates the French defender was very praising of his new club. ”We’ve got a great bunch here, and hopefully we can go on to win the Scudetto in the next few games. The lads are a great bunch and they’re doing really well and playing some great football and I cannot wait for next season where hopefully I’ll be able to help the lads have a good season in Lega Pro.”

After the young defender spent several days training with his new team mates, his new manager at Parma, Paolo Vanoli, said he was very happy with the youngsters work ethic and the ability he was showing on the training pitch. ”Yoan has been really impressive in the few days that he has been here so far, and if he continues in the same vein, then he will settle really well into this squad. We are trying to build something here, and we see Yoan as a very big part of that future and the ambitions we have for this club.”

Bringing in some fresh meat!
Severin looks great, bags of potential hopefully, maybe become a stalwart for you
Late to say it but great job getting promoted Serie D can be hard to escape. Good luck in the Serie D Scudetto
Been following along with you. Just a note to say I like your style and you write a real nice match report. Looking forward to more success from you.
Severin is certainly a good buy, let's hope he becomes a big boost to the side!
Looks a decent signing, certainly one who you can expect to grow even better with age

Should be a big player for us next year, we needed some players in our defence that were permanent players at the club!

Yeah should come good, and get better with age!
