LEGA PRO GIRONE A PREVIEW: COMO VS. PARMA

Date: 03 September 2016
Kick Off: 15:00

Como
Based In: Como
Last Season: 21st ( Serie B )
Manager: Enrico Nicolini
Captain: Antonia Giosa
Key Player: Federico Gerardi
Injuries & Suspensions: Giuseppe Le Noci, Simone Granz, Caleb Ekuban
Last Match: 1-1 Vs. Colligiana
Form:

Fans Prediction: ”We were relegated last year after a really poor year in Serie B but I’d like to think we’re back this year in Lega Pro, but a lot stronger. We’re a good side in this division and hopefully we can be back up there challenging for a place in Serie B next year but for now we have to make sure we get something against Parma. They are a good side that will have intentions the same as us, challenging for promotion, and they have a dangerous looking squad. For me this is going to be a draw.”

Parma
Based In: Parma
Position: 1st (Serie D Girone D)
Manager: Paolo Vanoli
Captain: Alessandro Lucarelli
Key Player: Francesco Corapi
Injuries & Suspensions: N/A
Last Match: 2-1 Vs. Pro Piacenza
Form:

Fans Prediction: ”We didn’t have the best of pre seasons this summer but then we did play against big teams that were very much a level above us. Vanoli had the team back in training extra early too so they should all be ready for the new season and raring to go and the performances in the last few weeks have been pretty high. Como are a good side though and were in Serie B last year although they didn’t have the best time of it, but they will still be dangerous, but I think we can claim at least a point.”

Always difficult coming up against a relegated team but it's a chance for you to show 'em who's boss ;)
Time for Parma to do serious buisness and earn back to back promotions!

League Table

Player of the Month

Francesco Corapi

The midfielder is at it again. He has been absolutely fantastic in the four league games we’ve played this month and was an integral part of the side helped secure two wins and a draw and he is going to win many more of these awards if he keeps playing the way he is doing at the minute.

Injuries

Rodrigo Alborno. The Paraguayan full back has a hernia and will miss the next 3 to 4 weeks meaning he has not had a successful start to the season after his sending off in the opening game and then picking up this injury a few days later.
Josh Brillante. The Australian box to box midfielder has had a solid start to his career at the Ennio Tardini but news that he strained his knee caps and will miss a further 8 weeks was not received very well.

Next Month

Life in the third tier continues to offer up a mixed start for Parma as their next five fixtures will see Paolo Vanoli’s side play four teams in and around mid-table but will all harbour hopes of reaching the play offs before seeing off the month with a fixture against promotion chasing Vicenza. Parma’s first fixture sees them play Cremonese away before a week later they host Pro Patria at the Ennio Tardini where they will be hoping to build on this months 2-1 win over Reggiana. The following week is a rematch of the Paule Scudetto final against Olginatese with the hosts hoping to get revenge on Parma for denting their title bid. Bassano are the next visitors to the Ennio Tardini before an unknown opponent in the Coppa Italia Lega Pro first round. Finally Parma end the month with a tricky away day fixture against Vicenza in a game that could be crucial for the teams push for promotion.

Manager’s Thoughts

A good start to the season. To have picked up seven points from a possible twelve is a good return considering we’re trying to find our feet in this league and establish ourselves as one of the sides to be taken seriously in the hunt for promotion. We’re only just outside of the Play Off spots at the minute so trying to get into those spots has to be the aim next month, and to do that we have to keep our momentum going and building on the draw against Pavia and the win against Reggiana. We’re a good team with some good players and I don’t doubt our ability to go on and have another successful month.

Good start hope you can keep the good run going
You're certainly at the right end of the table! The longer you can hang on there, the better chance you have of promotion!
Really good start I feel, hopefully you build from here!

Would have liked a better start to be honest but plenty to build on :P

Top end of the table is a good start, but just hope we can build from here and really push for promotion!

IS PAOLO VANOLI IN LINE FOR THE SACK?

15 October 2016

________________________________________
- Parma haven’t started the season as well as expected
- Vanoli’s men lie 10th in 18 team league after only 7 games
- Performances at the Ennio Tardini deemed not good enough again

Parma manager Paolo Vanoli, the hero of the city after guiding his team to the Serie D title last season, is under pressure, and according to many outlets in the Italian media, could be in line for the sack if results do not pick up. With a huge game coming up against Olginatese at the weekend, Parma will be hoping to pick up three points, especially as the game is away from home, where Parma have played some of their best football this season. With many media outlets, including Gazzetta dello Sport, claiming that the board at Parma were paying close attention to Parma’s results in the Lega Pro Girone A at the moment, fearing that they might not pick up and Parma could end up facing a relegation battle, rather than a promotion chase.

However when addressing the media ahead of Parma’s visit to Olginatese, Paolo Vanoli stated that it was all just talk and that his job was perfectly safe. ”People seem to have forgotten that we were only promoted into the division this season. We might have been a Serie A club not long ago and we might have a big reputation, but in terms of our ability at the minute we aren’t a Serie A club playing in the third tier, our team is suitable to this division, maybe, if you ask me, just at the right level for Serie B. We bought in a lot of new players last summer to replace the players who left and they all needed time to settle in and now we’re in a similar situation where we’ve replaced a few players with quite a few new faces and they’ve all got to settle in as well.” Vanoli stated when questioned if he feared his future might be in doubt.

”We’ve shown at times this season, that we can play some nice football and effective football that gets us results. We’ve got a good record away from home, and maybe, if we can improve our performances at home, we can start moving up the table. We’ve got a good team here, they’re a lot of good players in this squad and a real team effort and it is great to see. But having a good team ethic is one thing, but we need to start getting results which we are more than capable of. That doesn’t mean though, that I feel like my job is under threat.”

I hope not!!!! They should give you more time
Sacking you would be suicide for them, you're the only one with the potential to take Parma far!
Surely he cannot be sacked, after all the work he has put in! :O
I have faith in you to turn it around. You can do it

They should, but whether or not they do... we shall see ;)
