After Reading the details of this loan move, I reckon this move will benefit the player Fosu(re). Not quite sure who 'the Addicts' are though.
Justice- These puns aren't too bad.. ;) Just noticed it auto-corrected! Fixed, cheers for pointing it out. :P

McLaughlin: "We're Ready"

U's boss Paddy McLaughlin claims his side are 'ready' ahead of the new season which starts on Saturday at home to MK Dons.

Colchester ended the season as League Two champions last time out after winning 1-0 against Yeovil Town on the last day – regaining their League One status after relegation the previous season. A busy summer has seen the signings of Paul Digby, Semi Ajayi, Donal McDermott, Mark Bradley and Lawrie Wilson on frees alongside the trio of loans, Sean Kavanagh from Fulham and Vlad Dragomir and Eddie Nketiah from Arsenal.

The club has played four pre-season friendlies over the Summer losing 2-1 against Portsmouth, before 1-0 wins to lower league opposition in Braintree Town and Maldon & Tiptree and ending with a 4-2 loss to Premier League giants Arsenal.

McLaughlin's side will take on MK Dons, a side who are claimed to be 'one of the most hated clubs in Europe' due to the taking over of the original Wimbledon. The Dons finished fifth in League One last season, following relegation in their first ever Championship season previously however lost in the playoff semi finals 3-1 on aggregate to Bradford City.

Ahead of the meeting McLaughlin said, "We've prepared the best we can ahead of the season and all the players have reported back ready and fully fit which is always a good start. This season is going to massive for the club – trying to follow on from the success of last season is always going to be difficult however why couldn't we? We're going to approach the game in the same manner we did last season; professionally, ensuring we bring the game to them."

"We're ready and very confident," McLaughlin admitted. "We have tried to keep the core of the squad from last year making improvements where we had to. There's no need to fully revamp a successful squad who want to carry on like they left off last season – morale is high and the players know that both myself and the fans are expecting a good result on the day."

We also quizzed him on the Capital One Cup game that immediately follows on Tuesday night where Colchester will be facing the side that ended the run last season, Aston Villa. He responded, "We take every game one step at a time. Currently we are just preparing for the game at the weekend and nothing else, once that game passes we will then begin focusing on the cup game on Tuesday. Yes it is a 'big game' once again, however we believe every game is a big game," he concluded.
Good to see your focus is squarely set on starting the season positively. Good luck, and I hope to see another promotion!
Going to be another great season I can feel it
Just got a feeling that something special is abrewing here :D
Justice- Let's hope, the aim is to stay up first and we'll go from there.

MJK- You think so? :P

Griffin- I hope you're right, we'll see.

Colchester Held In League One Return

COLCHESTER UNITED 1 (Dickenson 23) MK DONS 1 (Potter 82)

Colchester began their League One return with a 1-1 draw against a strong MK Dons side this afternoon, United's only goal coming from winger Brennan Dickenson.

On a hot and humid day at The Weston Homes Community Stadium, 7,225 (including 1,675 away fans) packed into the ground to witness the clubs immediate return to the division. The game saw a number of Summer signings be handed their debuts, Lawrie Wilson, Sean Kavanagh and Paul Digby (before being substituted off in the 68th minute,) all started.

Ahead of the game Colchester secured Bradley Fewster's services for a second season as he extended his loan spell until the end of the season. The 21 year old grabbed 22 goals in 33 games last season, most coming towards the latter end of the season as United won the League Two title.

MK Dons were the side most threatening early on in what proved to be a scrappy afternoon in the first half. A long range effort from Reiss Nelson was comfortably stopped by Dean Brill, who remained inbetween the sticks for United despite being subject to a move back to Scotland in recent weeks. Not long later the opening goal came, Bradley Fewster's shot was deflected into the path of Brennan Dickenson who's shot found the top right hand corner of the goal.

The goal was just his third for the club, after scoring two goals in 32 games last season after signing from Gillingham on a free.

The visitors had shown nothing to suggest they were to challenge the opening goal as the game proved to be a midfield battle throughout, with both sides struggling to string passes together and form an attack of any sort until Kieran Agard forced his way into the box but was unable to find the target with his shot from just outside the area.

United looked set for the three points – a perfect way to restart life back in League One; until Sean Murray's clearance was hoofed back into the box by defender Joe Walsh, prompting Brill to rush to collect the ball however a lack of communication saw debutant Ajayi, who replaced Digby, head the ball straight to Darren Potter who smashed the ball into an empty net.

Both sides pressed for a winner however were kept out by two defences who will be pleased with their performances overall. Colchester will now face Aston Villa at home again on Tuesday night in the Capital One Cup.

Colchester United: Dean Brill, Lawrie Wilson, Luke Prosser, Paul Digby (Semi Ajayi 68,) Sean Kavanagh, Sean Murray, Tommy O'Sullivan, Thomas Lapsile, Brennan Dickenson, Drey Wright (Donal McDermott 60,) Bradley Fewster.

Substitutes not used: Sam Walker, Tom Eastman, Vlad Dragomir, Eddie Nketiah, Chris Porter.

MK Dons: David Martin, George Baldock, Scott Wooton, Joe Walsh, Dean Lewington, Darren Potter, Connor McGrandles (Ed Upson 55,) Jonathan Leko (Daniel Powell 71,) James Maddison, Reiss Nelson, Nicky Maynard (Kieran Agard 65.)

Substitutes not used: Lee Nicholls, Paul Downing, Oran Jackson, Dean Bowditch.

Referee: L.Sawbey

Attendence: 7,225
Ah no good I lost 500 on you not winning
A good start to the season when id guess MK Dons will be challenging for promotion/play offs this season! Villa next up will be huge!
A frustrating way to start the new season, but a point is a point at the end of the day! Everything is still in your hands - 45 wins from your remaining 45 games should be enough to clinch the league title, I reckon!
MJK- Why would you bet so much in the first place? ;)

Griffin- They will be, I'm pretty sure. They have a good squad and a good manager to boot - shame as I can't stand them. :P However as you say, a decent start for us, thanks.

Justice- Has anyone ever doubted your optimism? But who knows, maybe we can win every game from now... ;)

Murray: "We Can Progress"

http://www.eadt.co.uk/polopoly_fs/1.4907328!/image/image.jpg_gen/derivatives/landscape_630/image.jpg

Colchester United midfielder Sean Murray has said his team can 'progress' ahead of the Capital One Cup first round tie against Championship side Aston Villa.

The U's managed to pull off some shocks in last year's competition when they reached the third round. A 1-0 result to Cardiff set up a clash against former Premier League Middlesbrough who Colchester stunned by winning 3-0. Ultimately they were knocked out by tomorrow's opponents after losing 4-1 at Villa Park.

Doubles for Jonathan Kodija and Jack Grealish saw Murray's early goal overturned in what proved to be a dominant performance in the end from the Villans. However Murray has predicted the result will be 'completely different' this time around.

The Irishman, 24 said, "We're confident ahead of tomorrow night. Last season we managed to pull off some brilliant results and we are taking confidence from that. The defeat suffered last time against Villa was a massive shame, as we really wanted to see how far we could go in the competition but it has really put some fuel in the fire and we want to go and set the record straight, the game will be completely different."

"We can progress, definitely. We've prepared very hard for the game – as we do with all our games, but the added desire of wanting to go on a cup run again is something that adds that little bit of something extra. They call it the 'Mickey Mouse Trophy' but to us lower league clubs, it's a massive piece of silverware up for the taking."

He took aim with the latter comment on Premiership managers, such as Manchester United boss Jose Mourinho, who have been criticizing the competition claiming "it has no prestige" however Derek Adams, the manager of League Two side Plymouth Argyle hit back blaming the Premier League for the lack of competition as they "only field young or reserve players."

Only Championship, League One and League Two sides enter in the first round of the competition, Premier League teams who failed to qualify for any European competition will participate in round two before the rest join in at the next stage. This will also feature Championship outfit Fulham, who won the FA Cup last season to qualify for the Europa League.

The game will be broadcasted live on Sky Sports 2 at 7:45pm.
Good luck
Hopefully Villa will be full of complacency having beaten you lat year and you can go put a few goals past them! Good luck man! :D
