Liverpool Win League 1 After Home Win Clinches Title

Ojo was the man for Liverpool today as they grabbed a 2-1 win against Coventry to be officialy champions of the English 3rd Division. Firstly, he set up Solanke in the 6th minute to put Liverpool in front with a nice low cross where he found Solanke who scored in an open net. 19 minutes later, Ojo scored a direct free-kick and doubled Liverpool's lead. The only thing Coventry could do was pull one back with Junior Brown in the 64th minute. After full time, celebrations started as Pierre Jean-Jacques guided his team to a consecutive promotion and league title. The reds' fans after full time were chanting "We've won League 2, we've won League 1, we'll win the f*cking Championship and return where we belong!" Since JJ returned, Liverpool have been unstoppable. Next up, Manchester United for the FA Cup Semi Final. Tough match, but surely not impossible to win. Let's hope next time this year, we'll be celebrating promotion to the Premier League.

Ecstatic Liverpool Book Place In Final

On a cold, rainy afternoon, Jean-Jacques' Liverpool beat fierce rivals Manchester United 1-2 and booked their place in the final of the FA Cup. A rather "brutal" match some would say, as a combined 41 fouls were commited, 9 yellow cards and 2 red cards were shown. Manchester United also had 2 disallowed goals that were vital to the match's outcome. Man Of The Match was Liverpool's Virgil Van Dijk. The Holland international played some impressive defence saving Liverpool on multiple occasions. The match was sold out with 90.000 people coming to watch the semi final.

    Key Highlights

4: An extremely bad throw in from Keita went right into Gaspar's feet who in turn immediately passed to Icardi who after a nice dribble on Wilmot, scored a nice powerful shot from 15 meters. (1-0 Icardi)

13: Pereira goal kick goes right into Van Dijk who heads it to Woodburn. Woodburn gets away from Gaspar, lobs the ball to Wilson who wastes the chance with a weak shot right into Pereira's hands. (LFC Shot)

25: Ojo finds some space on the left flank, he whips a cross to the far post where he finds Wilson who has an easy job of kicking the ball in the net. (1-1 Wilson)

33: Pereira clears the ball to Lingard who elbows Keita mid-air and is shown a second yellow card and consequently a red card which leaves United down to 10. (MU Red Card)

34: Seconds after Lingard's sent-off United earn a free kick outside the box. Chiesa takes it, ball to the far post which finds the offside Icardi who scores. Needless to say, goal was ruled out. (MU Offside Goal)

36: Wilson receives a pass from TAA, dribbles past Rose and cuts back to Ojo who shoots after an amazing first touch. Ojo was unlucky to see his shot going a little too high. (LFC Shot)

39: Free kick on the left flank for Liverpool. Wilson crosses the ball in the near post, where somehow Pereira misjudges the direction of the ball and goes out of position. The ball on the other hand, reaches Van Dijk, who jumped highest of all players there to head the ball in the net and give Liverpool the lead. (1-2 Van Dijk)

68: Rose goes past TAA and begins to make a run for the goal, but TAA pulls his shirt bringing him down right outside of the box. That was the last action from TAA that night as he was sent off with a second yellow card. (LFC Red Card)

83: Mario Gaspar was left unmarked in the box, where after a cross from Rose he headed it beautifully towards the net. Pope's reflexes were quick enough to parry the shot, but Icardi who was there scored a point-blank range goal. Unfortunately for United, Icardi was offside yet again. (MU Offisde Goal)

    League Review

League One is officially over. We have finished on a league high 120 points, winning 38 out of our 46 games. Been exceptional all year scoring 139 goals and conceding only 29. We finished as champions, while the other two teams that were promoted were MK Dons and Portsmouth.. The four teams that were relegated are Exeter City, Burton Albion, Shrewsbury and Blackpool. Interesting fact, Blackpool conceded 100 goals all season, the most ever in the league. Solanke was the league's top scorer scoring 31 in 28 and averaging 1 goal every 64 minutes. Also, Solanke scored 6 hat-tricks this season, reaching Jordan Rhodes' record in the 11/12 season. Ojo was voted League 1 POTY (34 apps, 22 goals, 12 assists) and 6 of our players were included in the TOTY (Keita, Van Dijk, Ojo, Diaz, Solanke, Woodburn). Moreover, we ended the season unbeaten in the last 26 games. This squad is surely Premier League material. We may be too good for these leagues. Liverpool's match of the season was apparently the Liverpool 7-1 Exeter City as voted by fans. Gentle reminder, this was the match that Ojo scored 4 goals which were dedicated to JJ. Butland is also expected to be officially revealed in 2 weeks. There's also talk of a very good and also surprising move in the works. Some say it's a world class player, while others suggest it's a former Red. We'll have to wait until the transfer window.

Liverpool Beat Chelsea To Win Double

Just a few hours ago the whistle was blown for the final time by Michael Oliver for Liverpool to clinch the FA Cup title. Jean-Jacques' players didn't find it easy at all, but with a bit of luck, beat the Premier League team 2-1. The score was opened at the 35th minute when an Azpilicueta error was taken advantage of by Solanke who scored an easy one-on-one. Liverpool doubled their lead at the 55th with Woodburn scoring a goal from just inside the box. Azpilicueta injured his ankle in the 57th minute and was subbed out. 77 minutes in, Brahim Diaz pushed Christensen inside the box and Oliver gave a penalty without second thought. Hazard stepped up to take it and he sent Pope the wrong way to make it 2-1. That's all Chelsea could do though until the game ended. Liverpool won the League 1 and FA Cup this season. This means that Liverpool will play in the Europa League next year. It'll be a busy transfer window, won't it?
