You have every right to be confident and pleased with your attackers. They will certainly pose a selection dilemma for you, but in the form every manager wishes! An absolute flawless month, well done. A great start to the European campaign too. Russian sides are always difficult teams to visit.

The goalkeeping situation due to the work-permit fiasco is utterly mad. I wonder why the paperwork took so much longer? At least Ospina provides as an adequate back-up in the meantime.

October - 24/25

We enter October in a very good spot in our save. Top of the league with only one defeat, into the 4th Round of the Carabao Cup, and we are about to have our first home Champions League game.

01/10/24

The first game of the month sees us host Spanish side Athletic Bilbao in the Champions League group stage, looking to extend our unbeaten home run to 38 European Games.

Ipswich will be without Luke McCowan for today’s game with his twisted knee, whilst David Ospina and Luke Webb are unregistered for today’s crunch clash.

A. Bilbao will be without Yeray for a while with his damaged cruciate ligaments, but will be hoping to jump above Ipswich in the group.

IPSWICH: (4-4-2) Gunn, Konoplya, Antov, Solet, Bradaric, Colic, Margeman, Gul, Tue, Quinn, Martin. SUBS: Stevenson, Seppanen, Stevens, Osimhen, Mendes, Nelson, Durmus.

A.BILBAO: (4-4-1-1) Iturrino, Velez, Nunez, Martinez, Galarza, Perez, Garmendia, Bengoetxa, Cordoba, Muniain, Villalibre. SUBS: Fernandez, Eizmandi, Williams, Agirre, Arrieta, Nolaskoava, Salinas.

The run continues, at the expense of Athletic Bilbao. Should have been bigger as we had 15 shots on target compared to their 2. Another goal and assist for Dean Martin. He seem to always score and assist together, or not at all.

Back to the Premier League now, as we have our first ‘big test’ of the season. Yes we’ve lost to Sheffield United already, but this is a game where we are the underdogs.

Arsenal will be without Hector Bellerin as they look to avenge the 2-0 defeat to Ipswich in May of last season, and jump back into the Champions League spots.

Ipswich have a fully fit side for today’s visit to Arsenal as they look to extend their lead at the top of the table.

ARSENAL: (4-1-2-2-1) Leno, Saliba, Mepham, Lindelof, Tierney, Torreira, Bellingham, Guendouzi, Pepe, Kang In, Correa. SUBS: Dahlberg, Kenneh, Bentacur, Jones, Nakajima, Mendy, Collet.

IPSWICH: (4–4-2) Gunn, Konoplya, Antov, Solet, Mendes, Gul, Margeman, Colic, Tue, Tkachuk, Martin. SUBS: Ospina, Seppanen, Stevens, Quinn, Bradaric, Nelson, Osimhen.

That’s what we can do! An excellent victory over the league best defence. 3 goals for the blues, including Grant Margeman’s first Ipswich goals. Did I mention that Martin loves a goal and an assist in the same game? He’s started 11 games this year, and in 5 of those he’s scored and assisted.

The international break has ended, and we are back at Portman Road with a tough clash against Chelsea coming up. Should be a good game between two very good sides.

Ipswich have a fully fit side to choose from as they look to extend their lead at the top of the league with a win over Chelsea today.

Chelsea will be without Marcos Llorente, Steven Bergwijn and Fernando Pacheco as they look to send themselves into second place in the Premier League.

IPSWICH: (4–4-2) Gunn, Konoplya, Antov, Solet, Mendes, Colic, Margeman, Gul, Tue, Tkachuk, Martin. SUBS: Ospina, Seppanen, Stevens, Quinn, Bradaric, McCowan, Osimhen.

CHELSEA: (4-1-2-2-1) Kepa, Aarons, Tomori, Ampadu, Chilwell, Kovacic, Stockbridge, Zaniolo, Bailey, Hudson-Odoi, Abraham. SUBS: Coste, James, Nicolas, Martinez, Taylor, Spence, Belotti.

Now that’s how you show your power. An insane performance from our side. Christian Tue is getting better and better each season, plus Kemal Gul looks like a real talent. No goal for Dean Martin, but he did get 3 assists so I can’t complain.

Back to the Champions League we go as we travel to Italy to face our toughest test yet in Napoli. If we can get anything from this game, it could be an excellent result for the team.

Napoli may be without Guilherme Bastos and Giuseppe Rossi for today’s game as they look to pick up their first win of the group.

Ipswich will be without David Ospina and Luke Webb who are unregistered for today’s game as they look to extend their lead at the top of the group.

IPSWICH: (4–4-2) Gunn, Konoplya, Antov, Solet, Mendes, Gul, Margeman, Colic, Tue, Tkachuk, Martin. SUBS: Stevenson, Seppanen, Englund, Quinn, Bardaric, Stevens, Osimhen.

Possibly the biggest result we could have hoped for in this group. Napoli are the big boys in the group but they are currently on 1 point from 3 games. We are sitting pretty at the top, with Tkachuk getting the key goal.

Back to the Premier League now as we travel to relegation threatened Newcastle as we look to keep our hold on top spot in the league.

Newcastle may be without Miguel Almiron for today’s game against Ipswich Town, as they look to move further up the table and away from the relegation zone.

Ipswich have a fully fit side as they look to extend their lead at the top of the table in a key game for Ipswich Town.

NEWCASTLE: (4-1-2-2-1) Gulacsi, Conti, Lascelles, Thor, Jesus, Longstaff, Soler, Delaney, Ibe, Saint-Maximin, Sargent. SUBS: Lecomte, Goldson, Hayden, Joelinton, Diousse, Dasilva, Strelec.

Wasn’t a comfortable victory but we got the job done. Another goal for Tkachuk and another assist for Dean Martin. These two are forming the partnership I was hoping they could when I signed Tkachuk in the summer.

29/10/24

Away from the league and into the one cup I am desperate to win this season. That is of course the Carabao Cup, and we entertain West Brom as we search for a route into the next round.

Ipswich have a fully fit side to choose from as they look to advance into the Quarter Final for the second season in a row.

West Brom will be without Che Adams and Karlo Bartolec for today’s game as they look to avenge the 4-2 defeat they suffered to Ipswich earlier in the season.

IPSWICH: (4–4-2) Gunn, Seppanen, Woolfenden, Solet, Bradaric, Dozzell, Downes, Englund, Nelson, Osimhen, Quinn. SUBS: Ospina, Williamson, Tue, Tkachuk, Forgione, Durmus, Colic.

WEST BROM: (4-2-1-2-1) Johnstone, Ferguson, Collins, Sangare, Tsimikas, Field, Diawara, Davies, Hopkins, Ricky, Laycock. SUBS: Vlachodimos, Rowley, Murray, Plange, Whiting, Malcolm, Windsor.

The rotated squad does the trick again. A solid 2-1 win over fellow Prem side West Brom. Ludwig Englund picked up his first Ipswich goal as well which is great to see for the youngster.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

PLAYER OF THE MONTH

He may not have shone in the goal scoring department this month, but he did get 6 assists in 6 games so his all round game is really improving. Run it close with Alexey Tkachuk and Christian Tue for the award as well.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

TABLE

The season just gets better and better. Three massive wins over Napoli, Arsenal and Chelsea set us on our way. 6 straight wins in the month. Into the Carabao Cup Quarter Final which will be drawn in the next update, and we are on the verge of qualifying for the Champions League Knockout stages.

ScottT - they have all been chomping at the bit. Especially with Quinn scoring against West Brom in the last game. Just hoping to keep them all happy. Two flawless months in a row now, hopefully we can keep it going. Some tough games ahead but I believe in the players.
Find it incredible that you were so clearly disappointed with some of the early results this season, despite winning by three goals on some occasions. It just shows how much progress this team has made under your guidance and the ambition is clear. Some huge results this month, particularly Arsenal and Chelsea, whilst that crazy home European record is still intact. Great start to the season.
You have to just simply applaud what we are witnessing. Absolutely brilliant all-round once again! Dean Martin is really improving in all aspects of his game. Very pleasing to see.

November - 24/25

The season is looking good so far but we do have some tough fixtures to overcome in this month. Notably a trip to Tottenham and two Champions League games.

TEAM NEWS

01/11/24

The first game of the month sees us travel to high flying Leicester City in a massive game to show that we really can be considered title contenders this season.

Leicester may be without Ricardo Pereira for todays game as they look to close the gap to Ipswich at the top of the league.

Ipswich will have a fully fit squad available to them as they look to extend their lead at the top of the table, and create a gap of 10 points between themselves and 3rd placed Leicester.

LEICESTER: (4-2-3-1) Karius, Justin, Papetti, Brignone, Sehovic, Tielemans, Ndidi, Thauvin, Navarro, Felix, Allan. SUBS: Ward, Faustino, Duncan, Mariano, Deulofeu, Maitland-Niles, Bakayoko.

IPSWICH: (4-4-2) Gunn, Konoplya, Antov, Solet, Mendes, Gul, Margeman, Colic, Tue, Tkachuk, Martin. SUBS: Ospina, Seppanen, Stevens, Quinn, Bradaric, Nelson, Osimhen.

I’ll take a point against a very strong Leicester side. Avoiding defeat to teams around us, especially away from home will be massive for us in the long run.

Oh this team is good. 6 goals, 5 different goal scorers. Everyone playing their part perfectly in this game, except maybe the defence as they scored twice from 3 shots on target. But they did both come through Woolfenden so you can understand why. But what a win that secure is qualification from the group; and a draw over Spartak in a few games time will secure us top spot.

Yes, you did read that formation right. They lined up with 7 defenders in their team. 3 sweepers and 2 CDM’s that were sat were your CB should be. Didn’t matter in the end though, as we steamed through them 3-1. Another two goals for Dean Martin and Margeman stepping up where it matters.

2 horrific defensive mistakes gifted a very poor Tottenham side the win. Should have been easy for us, after we had 5 clear cut chances. Players need to step up if they want to win the league.

PLAYER OF THE MONTH

Three months in a row the award has gone to Dean Martin, showing that he is still one of the best players in the world. 5 goals and 2 assists in 5 games, keeping us in the hunt for 3 competitions.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

TABLE

A few slips ups in the league this season, 4 games with only 2 wins. We are still 5 clear at the top of the table, but teams like Man United and Tottenham are coming for us.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

TheLFCFan - This team has developed so much that slips up do my head in. I can accept defeats to City and United, but teams like Sheff Utd are hard to take. The record continues, up to I think 40 or 39 right now. We keep going.

ScottT - Martin just keeps his level up each game he plays. This month it was more goalscoring than assisting, but I’m glad he knows how to do both.
You're still in a good position for the time being and qualification into the knockout stages of the Champions League is secured with a first-place finish. Fantastic. A busy month now awaits... best of luck.

December - 24/25

The season is looking very good so far but we do have some very tough fixtures to overcome in this month. We will also have the draw for the Champions League Knockout Rounds, plus a Carabao Cup Quarter Final tie to navigate.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

FA CUP 3rd ROUND DRAW

02/12/24

A few interesting ties have been drawn in the FA Cup 3rd round draw. Holders Leeds travel to fellow Premier League side Brighton, whilst runners up Norwich City face Championship side Swansea. There are 4 non league teams in the draw, the lowest being National League North Guiseley travelling to Championship side Derby County. The biggest game in the round is probably Southampton vs Man United.

Ipswich have been drawn away to Championship side Blackburn as they look to regain their FA Cup crown they won 2 years ago.

Ipswich will be without Luke McCowan and Oumar Solet for today’s game against Manchester City, whilst Sam Williamson and Domagoj Bradaric are doubts.

Man City may be without Leroy Sane for today’s game against Ipswich as they look to revitalise their season under new manager Zinedine Zidane.

IPSWICH: (4-4-2) Gunn, Konoplya, Antov, Bank, Mendes, Gul, Margeman, Colic, Tue, Tkachuk, Martin. SUBS: Ospina, Woolfenden, Stevens, Quinn, Downes, Nelson, Osimhen.

MAN CITY: (4-1-2-3) Ederson, Scholte, Ajer, Laporte, Mendy, Neves, De Bruyne, Szoboszlai, Silva, Sterling, Cavalheiro. SUBS: Muric, Joao, Saka, Foden, Verschaeran, Ake, Silva.

Such an embarrassing result. Shouldn’t be dropping points to an out of touch City side who attacked us once in the game. Shocking attacking from Martin and Tkachuk.

Martin and Tkachuk came to me before the Bournemouth game and apologised for their performance against Manchester City, so were granted a spot on the bench. I think the harsh treatment sparked Martin into life. He came on in the 79th minute. Excellent win.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

ScottT - this was a very busy month, one we passed with flying colours. It will be a tough rest of the season with extra games to be played in 3 different competitions.
An absolute massive victory against Arsenal caps off a very important month for Ipswich. It's been a great season so far, long may it continue.

A difficult tie to overcome in the Champions League, but you have to be beat the very best to become the best I suppose!
A very interesting decsion to drop two big players completely after one poor performance, in particular Martin who has been outstanding all season. But it is clear the manager has a clear level of expectation and since coming back into the team Martin has impressed.

Looking at the month, it was a big one and you have continued to impress and that lead at the top is looking rather comfy now. Seven points clear is a good place to be. Two very tough ties in the Champions league an League Cup, but hopefully you are able to get through them both.

January - 24/25

The new year is upon us, as we enter 2025 in a very good way. Top of the Premier League, into the Carabao Cup Semi Final and into the Champions League Knockout rounds. Here’s hoping 2025 can be as good as 2024.

However, before the January update starts there is one more transfer that need to be discussed coming into the club

That player is Brazilian 19-year-old left winger Andre from Flamengo. He was a prearranged deal from the middle of the campaign, and I’m very happy he’s come in. He jumps above Reiss Nelson in the pecking order, and will provide very good competition with Christian Tue for the starting spot. He has current ability and potential ability.

The first game of the year sees us travel to Blackburn in the FA Cup 3rd Round. Hopefully we can show our class to secure a win and advance to the next round.

Blackburn may be without Alexander Scholz for today’s game against Ipswich with a hip injury, but everyone else is fit as they look to cause an upset.

Ipswich will be without Luke Webb and Valentin Antov who are both injured for today’s cup tie with Blackburn Rovers, as they away side look to advance past their Championship rivals.

BLACKBURN: (5-4-1) Steer, Tavernier, Ostigard, Lenihan, Hilman, Bola, Mboula, Gonalons, Travis, Bongonda, Butterworth. SUBS: Etheridge, Aliji, McBride, Armstrong, Zurkowski.

IPSWICH: (4-4-2) Gunn, Seppanen, Solet, Bank, Bradaric, Stevens, Downes, McCowan, Andre, Osimhen, Tkachuk. SUBS: Ospina, Woolfenden, Margeman, Dozzell, Quinn.

An excellent win with a changed side to reach the 4th round. Honestly I wouldn’t have been fussed if we got knocked out because of the amount of extra games we’d be playing this year. Tkachuk scores his first goal since his banishment ended mid December, new signing Andre flicked it through to the Russian striker and he planted it past Jed Steer. Osimhen made it 2-0 a minute later from a Seppanen cross on the byline. The game was wrapped up just before half time when new singing Andre headed home from a Tkachuk corner. An excellent debut for the new Brazilian winger. He will be battling hard for a first team spot for the rest of the season.

FA CUP 4th ROUND

Some interesting ties in the 4th Round of the FA Cup. Most notably, Chelsea are set to face Tottenham at Stamford Bridge. Manchester United face a long trip down to the south coast to face Bournemouth, whilst Manchester City will have either MK Dons or Crawley in the next round.

Ipswich entertain fellow Premier League side Brighton, who knocked out holders Leeds United in the 3rd Round.

Up next we have high flying Liverpool in the first leg of the Carabao Cup Semi Final. The first tie is at Portman Road, so hopefully we can grab some goals at home to take with us when we have to travel up to Anfield later in the month.

Ipswich will be without Luke Webb and Valentin Antov through injury for today’s first leg against Liverpool, whilst Steffan Seppanen is suspended for the first leg.

Liverpool will be without Naby Keita for today’s game against Liverpool through a pulled thigh. They will be looking for a goal or two to take back to Anfield.

IPSWICH: (4-4-2) Gunn, Konoplya, Solet, Bank, Mendes, Gul, Margeman, Colic, Tue, Tkachuk, Martin. SUBS: Ospina, Bradaric, Stevens, Quinn, Woolfenden, Andre, Osimhen.

LIVERPOOL: (4-1-2-2-1) Alisson, Alexander-Arnold, Van Dijk, Tah, Robertson, Tonali, Baro, Arthur, Salah, Mane, Icardi. SUBS: Grabara, Varane, Anderson, Le Bras, Guimaraes, Thijssen, Smith.

I’m glad that we won the game but conceding 3 goals at home will not help us when we have to travel to them in a few weeks. Mo Salah opened the scoring early on from a Jonathan Tah cross, but it wasn’t long before Dean Martin got the first of his third. A wonderful boy from Tkachuk supplied the first, with Margeman then suppling the second just after half time.

The game was evened up by Pascal Le Bras after he flicked on Guimaraes’ long distance shot into the back of the net. The game was balanced on the edge until Dean Martin grabbed his third of the game securing his hat trick, running from the half way line and rounded the keeper as well. I thought we’d had the tie sown up a few minutes later when Solet headed in from Tkachuk’s corner. But Anderson dived down the other side near the end of the game and smashed it past Gunn. A one goal lead will be taken to Anfield.

The third game of the year sees us travel to title chasing Chelsea, who will be looking to make up the gap to 1st with a win over Ipswich today.

Chelsea will be without Mateo Kovacic and Andrea Belotti for today’s game against Ipswich as they look to go equal on points at the top of the league.

Ipswich will be without Luke Webb for the next month or so, whilst Victor Osimhen is a doubt with a tight thigh. But, Antov is back from his flu.

CHELSEA: (4-1-2-2-1) Kepa, Aarons, Felipe, Tomori, Chilwell, Llorente, Moriba, Zaniolo, Bailey, Bergwijn, Martinez. SUBS: Coste, Ampadu, Nicolas, Abraham, Brekalo, Maatsen, Hudson-Odoi.

IPSWICH: (4-4-2) Gunn, Konoplya, Solet, Antov, Mendes, Gul, Margeman, Colic, Andre, Tkachuk, Martin. SUBS: Ospina, Seppanen, Stevens, Quinn, Bank, Tue, Nelson.

Probably the biggest win of the season so far, maybe the biggest win we will get this year. We move 6 clear of second placed Chelsea with a game in hand now. It took until the second half for the first goal, and it was a moment of quality from Kemal Gul to whip the ball all the way to the back post for Dean Martin to head home. Quinny made it 2 very soon after a mistake from Fikor Tomori at the back led to David Quinn being out through on goal and slotting past Kepa. An excellent win for us.

The next game sees us host fellow Premier League side Brighton in the FA Cup 4th Round.

Ipswich will be without Luke Webb for today’s game against Brighton as they look to advance into the FA Cup 5th Round.

Brighton will be without Jeremie Frimpong and Jakub Piotrowski for today’s game against Ipswich, whilst Alexis Mac Allister is a doubt with a sprained knee ligament.

IPSWICH: (4-4-2) Gunn, Seppanen, Antov, Solet, Bradaric, Dozzell, Colic, McCowan, Andre, Quinn, Martin. SUBS: Ospina, Konoplya, Margeman, Tkachuk, Bank.

BRIGHTON: (4-4-2) Naumov, White, Webster, Bella-Kotchap, Tymon, Holse, Burger, Duncan, Kamano, Connelly, Collet. SUBS: Maignan, Aurier, Chiquinho, Andone, Vargas.

An excellent win with a few rotated players in the squad. It didn’t start in the greatest manner however as Aaron Connelly opened the scoring after 10 minutes after a mistake at the back. We had to wait until the second half for our pressure to tell, as new boy Andre curled home a wonderful pass from Konoplya to level the tie up. The Ipswich attacks kept flowing and eventually became too much for Brighton to handle, as Dean Martin slotted home from a Andre assist, and then after Grant Margeman was fouled in the box, he stepped up once more to take the game out of Brighton’s reach.

FA CUP 5th ROUND

A few interesting games thrown up. Liverpool face to a trip to Newcastle if they can overcome Brentford in a replay. Manchester City have another fairly easy tie away to League One Plymouth, whilst Chelsea travel to the Championship to face either Milwall or Hull.

Holders Ipswich face a tough away tie to fellow Premier League side Manchester United.

The fifth game of the year sees us host mid table Sheffield United as we look to increase our lead at the top of the table to 9 points.

Ipswich are still missing Luke Webb from his abdominal strain, but other than that they have a fully fit side to choose from as they look to keep their good run of form going.

Sheffield United have a fully fit side as they look to make their assault onto the European Places once again.

IPSWICH: (4-4-2) Gunn, Konoplya, Solet, Antov, Mendes, Stevens, Margeman, Gul, Andre, Quinn, Martin. SUBS: Ospina, Seppanen, Colic, Tkachuk, Bradaric, Tue, Osimhen.

SHEFF UTD: (4-2-3-1) Pereira, Oxford, Keane, Semedo, O’Connell, Knight, Jensen, Semenyo, McBurnie, Yayi Mpie, Mousset. SUBS: Hahn, Livramento, Mbayo, Xadas, Brannagan, Mitchell, Roberts.

It wasn’t comfortable but we got the win. Should have been a simple victory as we ended the game with 14 shots on target compared to their 2. It looked to be a simple victory after Andre netted once again after 10 minutes, a long surging run from our own half. He looks like a real player, with 7 FINISHING! Mental. We doubled our lead on the half hour through Kemal Gul. Martin swung the ball in from deep and there was Gul to nestle home for 2-0. One of United’s 2 shots on target fell into the back of the net, after Mousset smashed the ball straight at Angus Gunn, who flapped at it but it still went in. Martin could have made the win more comfortable but missed a penalty late in the game.

The games come thick and fast, as we travel up to Yorkshire, currently where I am situated for University, as we face bottom of the league Huddersfield Town.

Huddersfield will be without Vladimir Spremo because he is on loan from Ipswich Town, so is ineligible to face his parent club, whilst Sidnei Tavares is our injured with a sprained knee ligament.

Ipswich are still without Luke Webb; whilst Christian Tue is a doubt with a pulled groin that he suffered in training.

HUDDERSFIELD: (4-2-2-1-1) Harvey, Dubois, Schindler, Heintz, Biraghi, Santamaria, Daly, Esgaio, Garcia, Watkins, Philipp. SUBS: Schofield, Masuaku, Nmecha, Ings, Fitzpatrick, Ghita, Gabbiadini.

IPSWICH: (4-4-2) Gunn, Konoplya, Antov, Solet, Mendes, Colic, Margeman, Gul, Andre, Tkachuk, Martin. SUBS: Ospina, Seppanen, Stevens, Quinn, Bradaric, McCowan, Osimhen.

My god that’s a lot of goals. Only took 5 minutes for us to open the scoring, as Grant Margeman curled one home from about 30 yards out, a complete fluke that flew into the bottom corner. 3 minutes Andre turned up once again for a goal, Kemal Gul this time being the provider at the back post. 1 minute later it was 3-0. Dean Martin getting the first of his 3 goals for the day, Margeman with the assist for Martin who sprang through on goal and slotted past Harvey. On the half hour mark it was 4, Martin getting his second of the game from a wonderful Solet lofted ball over the top.

5 minutes later, it was 5-0. Martin this time being the provider for his strike partner Tkachuk. He selflessly laid the ball across the box instead of shooting himself. Half time came and went, 1 minute later it was 6-0. Tkachuk again the goal scorer after a lapse in concentration from goalkeeper Harvey. In the hour mark we made it 7-0 away from home. Martin this time the scorer for his hat trick, smashing home from a Konoplya through ball to make this game a rout. Sadly we couldn’t get the clean sheet as Manolo Gabbiadini rounded Gunn to slot home for 7-1.

The final game of the month sees us travel away to Liverpool in the second leg of our Carabao Cup Semi Final. We hold a 4-3 lead from the first leg.

Liverpool will be without Romario Baro for today’s game against Ipswich with a damaged cruciate ligament, but everyone else is fit as they look to overturn the first leg defeat.

Ipswich are without Luke Webb and Ludwig Englund for today’s game against Liverpool as they look to hold their lead against the home side.

LIVERPOOL: (4-2-2-1-1) Alisson, Alexander-Arnold, Van Dijk, Varane, Abel, Tonali, Arthur, Salah, Smith, Mane, Le Bras. SUBS: Grabara, Tah, Maia. Icardi, Anderson, Robertson, Firmino.

IPSWICH: (4-4-2) Gunn, Seppanen, Solet, Antov, Mendes, Gul, Margeman, Colic, Andre, Tkachuk, Martin. SUBS: Ospina, Konoplya, Stevens, Quinn, Bradaric, Tue, Osimhen.

A game of nothing that secured our spot in the Carabao Cup Final. No real clear cut chances for either side, completely unlike the first leg game. But hey, who cares, we are finally into the Carabao Cup Final!

CARABAO CUP FINAL

PLAYER OF THE MONTH

I was going to give it to Andre for his stellar start to the month for us. But you can’t take it away from Martin. 9 goals in 6 games is remarkable, and that’s with him not playing against the easiest side of the month, Blackburn.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

TABLE

This season just gets better and better, and we are 8 points clear at the top of the table with 2 games in hand over Tottenham. An amazing season that has the potential to get even better if we can make use of the fact we have games in hand.

ScottT - it was huge that win over Arsenal, gave us the confidence to go into January on such a high. The champions league is coming up soon, hopefully we can do something in Italy against Juventus.

TheLFCFan - it seemed to have done them the world of good. Honestly I think they needed the break because they’ve played so many games this season. The lead is getting bigger, and the team is getting better.
Another excellent month for the team. Good luck in the Carabao Cup final and congratulations on a hard-fought victory over Liverpool to book your place in the final.
A brilliant month once again and to be eight points clear would take a Liverpool effort to bottle. I believe you will see it out! Andre has made an incredible impact since joining and seems to be forcing Tue out of the side, despite originally being considered a backup.Competition for places is a great thing to have. Also good to see Martin is still banging them home, what a player!

February - 24/25

The season is looking very good so far but we do have some very tough fixtures to overcome in this month. We will also the first leg of the Champions League Round of 16 away to Juventus. Things are going to get spicy now.

The first game of the month sees us host high flying Manchester United, who currently sit 3rd in the Premier League.

Ipswich will be without Ludwig Englund and Luke Webb for today’s game against Manchester United as they look to extend their lead at the top of the table to 11 points.

Man United are without Angel Gomes who is suspended, whilst Bruno Fernandes and Marcus Rashford are both doubts with a hamstring and twisted ankle issues respectively.

IPSWICH: (4-4-2) Gunn, Konoplya, Solet, Antov, Mendes, Gul, Margeman, Colic, Andre, Tkachuk, Martin. SUBS: Ospina, Seppanen, Stevens, Quinn, Bradaric, Tue, Osimhen.

MAN UTD: (4-2-3-1) De Gea, Dalot, Alvarez, Hernandez, Rustici, Gomez, Pogba, Correa, Mejbri, Almada, Pedro. SUBS: Audero, Umtiti, Cristante Leao, Rashford, Mukiele, Macias.

Oh this team is getting better and better. United finished the game with 0 shots on target, and we absolutely obliterated them all game long. Full back Yukhym Konoplya opened the scoring with a beautiful curling effort from outside the box. Even our full backs are coming up clutch and scoring wondergoals. Dean Martin made it safe for us with 15 minutes to play, another winding run from the halfway line which he slotted past De Gea. He’s getting better and better as well as each game passes.

After the excellent result against Manchester United, we now travel to their ‘rivals’ Leeds United in another tough game for our season. Coming through these sorts of games could be massive for our season.

Leeds have a fully fit side to choose from as they look to make their ground up on the sides above them and jump into a European spot.

Ipswich will be without Luke Webb and Ludwig Englund for today’s game against Leeds as they look to extend their lead at the top of the table to 14 points, with this being one of their two games in hand.

LEEDS: (4-2-3-1) Omlin, Shackleton, Holding, Haahr, Hernandez, Phillips, Bogusz, Davies, Lemee, Marin, Trabelsi. SUBS: Rajkovic, Hendricks, Connell, Simeone, Fardell, Knezevic, Edmondson.

IPSWICH: (4–4-2) Gunn, Konoplya, Solet, Antov, Mendes, Colic, Margeman, Gul, Andre, Tkachuk, Osimhen. SUBS: Ospina, Seppanen, Stevens, Quinn, Bradaric, Tue, Osimhen.

The run was always going to end at some point. Disgracefully we went from 2-0 up to 3-2 down, which is not good enough. We opened the scoring on 15 minutes when Hernandez’s long ball was intercepted by Andre, who drove past one player and slotted home last the keeper. Martin made it 2 three minutes later when Andre played him through on goal and he smashed it into the near post. However, we couldn’t make our dominance pay further, as Leeds got one back on 33 minutes after Gunn misjudged the flight of the ball and Haahr headed it in. The game was evened up just before half time as Antonio Marin slotted home at the far post. They turned the game on its head on half time as Gunn and Konoplya clashed in the area and Trabelsi smashed home from a yard out. Not good enough from us.

Up next we travel to Bournemouth off the back of that disaster of a game against Leeds United, where we desperately need a vIctory to get back on track.

Bournemouth may be without Ross Barkley for today’s game against Ipswich as they look to jump back up into the European places.

Ipswich have a fully fit side to choose from as they look to bounce back from their 3-2 defeat in their last game against Leeds United.

BOURNEMOUTH: (4-4-1-1) Ramsdale, Holgate, Penetra, Vegas, Tete, Lerma, Billing, Torijano, Da Silva, Buitink, Wilson. SUBS: Kovar, Stafylidis, Jackson, Morelos, Cook, Stacey, Weah.

IPSWICH: (4–4-2) Gunn, Konoplya, Solet, Antov, Mendes, Gul, Stevens, Colic, Andre, Tkachuk, Martin. SUBS: Ospina, Seppanen, Margeman, Quinn, Bradaric, McCowan, Tue.

Best way to bounce back from defeat is to smash a team 3-0 away from home. Alexey scoring his first goals in a fair few games. He opened the scoring in the 17th minute from a Konoplya throw, the ball bouncing between the defenders and Tkachuk was there to smash the ball home. Just before half time we made it 2-0, as Andre continued his impressive start to the year. He took the ball from Mendes and ran past 4 players before smashing into the corner. For someone with 7 finishing he is an incredible marksman. The game was wrapped up in the second half late in the day as Tkachuk headed home from a McCowan cross to give is the 3-0 win and another 3 points on the board.

The international break was over and we are back to Premier League action with a home game against Burnley.

Ipswich will be without Valentin Antov for a few games through suspension, but everyone else is fully fit for them to choose from against Burnley today.

Burnley are without Michael John Lema for today’s game against Ipswich, whilst Aliou Traore is a doubt without a hamstring strain.

IPSWICH: (4–4-2) Gunn, Konoplya, Solet, Antov, Mendes, Stevens, Margeman, Gul, Andre, Tkachuk, Martin. SUBS: Ospina, Seppanen, Colic, Quinn, Bradaric, Tue, Osimhen.

BURNLEY: (4-2-2-1-1) O’Leary, Preigue, Caleta-Cor, Gvardiol, Davies, Bandinelli, Bednarek, Saka, McNeil, Dermebay, Avram. SUBS: Cooper, Okoh, Fiabema, Wind, Amaechi, Aguirregaray, Silva.

The wins and goals just keep on coming. A solid 3-0 win over Burnley keeps us a fair way in front of the rest of the pack. Defender Oumar Solet opened the scoring in the 16th minute from a Dean Martin corner, flicking the ball into the far corner. It was Grant Margeman that doubled our lead 8 minutes later, from another Dean Martin corner when the ball fell to him in the box and he smashed it home. The games wasn’t dead and buried until the final minute of the match, when the provider of the first 2 Dean Martin grabbed his customary goal from a Christian Tue pass.

Away from the league and into the Champions League Round of 16 first leg, where we travel to Italy to face their biggest side Juventus in a massive game for our season.

Juventus will be without Matthijs De Ligt for today’s game against Ipswich as they look to build a lead heading into the second leg back in England.

Ipswich are without Reiss Nelson through injury for the next few games, whilst Luke Webb and Ludwig Englund are unregistered. Andre and David Ospina have been confirmed for the knockout stages.

JUVENTUS: (4-2-3-1) Semper, Ionascu, Demiral, Hermoso, Quiroga, Roberto, Rabiot, Meunièr, Ugolini, Sancho, Jota. SUBS: Szczesny, Rugani, Stevanovic, Embolo, Can, Belmonte, Gouiri.

IPSWICH: (4-4-2) Gunn, Konoplya, Solet, Antov, Mendes, Gul, Margeman, Colic, Andre, Tkachuk, Martin. SUBS: Ospina, Seppanen, Stevens, Quinn, Bank, Tue, Osimhen.

What a massive win for us. 1-0 down to win 2-1 is an excellent result for us to take back to Ipswich for the second leg. As previously mentioned, the home side took the lead when Ionascu swung the ball in, and Jota’s shot deflected off Solet and it fell to Meunier who slammed the ball home into an empty net. It wasn’t long however for us to even things up, as Dean Martin’s constant pressing forced the mistake at the back, the ball fell to Tkachuk who smashed in at the near post. We turned the game on it’s head entirely when Kemal Gul’s crossfield ball was headed home by Andre to give us the 2-1 win, and a lead to take back with us.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

PLAYER OF THE MONTH

Dean Martin registered one more assist than Andre for this month, but the impact that Andre has made since joining the club has been phenomenal. He already has more goals this season than Christian Tue, who has played 16 games more than he did. He looks like an insane little player for us, and at only 19 he can only get better.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

TABLE

Top of the league with 10 games to play. The lead is now 8 points with a game in hand, and that game could be massive for us. We are so close to shocking everyone by winning the league, we just need to keep our focus for the rest of the year.

TheLFCFan - I have hope that we can keep this run going. It’s been an insane season that hopefully gets better. Andre has been magnificent, properly pushed Tue out of the reckoning and shone on the same level as Martin, who himself just loves scoring goals.
That's going to be a tough opening 8 days in march with facing City, liverpool and united all in the space of 6 days
An important response from the Leeds game. Ipswich clearly mean business! An excellent away victory against Juventus gives them the advantage heading into the second-leg. Good luck!
