Summary

This season's results went a long way towards validating last season. As well as we did last season even I felt like it could have been a flash in the pan and I looked toward this season to see if we are really as good as we look at times. Outside of a pitiful showing in the FA Cup, I'd say we have shown that we belong.

The Champions League was a big surprise, much like the EURO Cup was last season. Other than two expected losses to Barca, we strolled through group play. And while we lost in the 1st Knockout Round to At. Madrid, I took pride in at least being able to hold them to a draw during both legs. We have qualified for the Champions League again next season thanks to our 3rd place finish in the Premier League and I'm hoping that we can have an equally good showing.

For our failure in the FA Cup, I did manage success in the Carling Cup. We had a titanic matchup in the semis against Arsenal that everyone knew was going to likely decide the winner, since the other semifinal featured two teams from the Championship. A 3-1 home victory got us into the Finals and we had to battle complacency en route to a 2-1 victory and the first cup trophy since we hoisted the FA Trophy in 2011.

Next season we continue the building process at Newport. We have already become a fairly popular squad but it's time to get even bigger. I've already asked the board to improve both our training and youth facilities and I think the gigantic influx of cash from playing in the Champions League will go a long way toward them signing off on the improvements. I'm also hoping that we can start talking about a stadium upgrade because we're selling out our 15k stadium as is. I don't have the option of asking for any more stadium expansions so I'm wondering if we will get the chance to have an entirely new one built. Again, with all the money we made this season (over 34m in profit), I have high hopes.
Well, that didn't take long! One day after we're given 35.8m in TV revenue from the Champions League, the board announces that we are building a new stadium and upgrading facilities. :)

Tell you what, you've hit gold with that! when will youu find out the name of the new stadium?

Finally have you become a club legend/icon/favoured personel yet?

Congratulations btw you've done a fantastic job!
I think you've found a gem in Caca mate :) seems to score just below the amount of games he has played, ive got one for my walsall team, only into my second season, he name is (Abel-but this is his nickname i gave him, will let you know further when im next on FM) because he has an extremely long name...I've played about 18 games and he has scored 14...only signed him the same July before the season, was a free from Auxerre

I don't know when I'll find out about the name of the stadium, but maybe we'll find out once the construction is complete. They may just name it Newport County Stadium, however, to match the old one that is being replaced.

And lastly, thank you for the kind words!

I hope you have as much luck with your player as I do with mine! I'll get a chance to finally see my new striker tandem in action in today's friendly vs Corinthians. Caca had been away with the Brazil team for the first three friendlies.

That is a name and a half Craig.

And Joannes I don't know how you are not more than just "Favoured Personnel" after everything you have done for the club...You really should be at least the next level up.

Good Luck for the new season.

I'm guessing that a few more seasons of playing in the Champions League ought to do the trick. :) The funny thing is, though, when I was asked about how I felt about winning the Coach of the Year award for the Premier League for the past two years running I deflected praise and responded that I shouldn't get all the credit. I'm out to kill them with humility, my friend. ;)
Cant beat my signing for luton town, first season.. febian brandy, released by man utd, scored 20 in 14 games!!!
Just another day at the office. Caca whips the home crowd into a frenzy as he bags his 35th league goal and 48th goal overall.

Down go the Catalan Giants!

More results like that one and you will win the Champions League with ease....and then most certainly get the next step in the clubs history.
One step closer!

One crown is ours and we will attempt to do the double vs Olympique Lyonnais in the Champions League Final.
