# adamahc : That is a name and a half Craig.

And Joannes I don't know how you are not more than just "Favoured Personnel" after everything you have done for the club...You really should be at least the next level up.

Good Luck for the new season.

I'm now considered a team icon. :)

Hey Joannes3000, i got my walsall team promoted in my 2nd season...won the league by 3 points, but i have a problem in my first season in the championship, half of my squad are out of contract(i always forget about these), so trying to sell for profit so i can reduce the wage budget, and then replace them with more talented players...can you give me any advice on how i can try n keep these players...

because i recently got took over but they arent given me any money or increasing the wage budget.

First, congrats on your promotion to the Championship! Only one more step until you're on the big stage.

I'd offer contracts to the players that you deem worthwhile and then just let the rest walk on free transfers. Don't worry about trying to re-sign everyone and then trying to sell some of the via transfer. It will sting to let potential money walk away like that, but the most important thing is to keep your wage budget in order and to free up those p/w wages so you can bring in equal or better talent.

I'm 10 seasons into my save and I have yet to buy anyone with the sole intention of selling them for a profit. I concentrate only on making the squad better by bringing in players that can hopefully fit our system. The few players that I've sold were only because they were replaceable with someone else.

This is not the dramatic ending to the season that I had in mind. :(

Summary

I won't lie, this season was a great success. In only our 5th season in the Premier League we won the title. That alone defines a successful season to me. On top of that, we also made a spectacular run in the Champions League that led to us banging on the door of the title there, where we eventually lost in the final to Olympique Lyonnais.

We also made a ton of money again, thanks to our success on the pitch, and our coffers are holding well over 80m before we get our share of TV revenues from the Champions League. That amount should easily push our reserves into the 100m range. We have upgrades coming to our training facilities, youth facilities, and youth recruiting network. And let's not forget June 26th - the day our new stadium opens for business.

Despite all of this, I'm left a little somber due to our shortcomings this season. A quarterfinal exit at the hands of Chelsea in the Carling Cup is acceptable. A 5th round exit to Aston Villa in the FA Cup is not, however. And even though it was fantastic just getting to the final in the Champions League, it makes a 1 goal loss in the final that much harder to bear.

We'll certainly look to be back next season, however. Our striker partnership took home a ton of awards and they looked unstoppable at times. And with both of them still in their early 20s, I think their best is yet to come. We will look to get better defensively as I think that was our shortfall in the big matches that we lost. When we're dealing with complacency and our offense looks disinterested, I need to have a defense that will step up. If we find the right player, you can expect a big money signing somewhere along the back line or maybe even at keeper.
Hey man, congratulations on winning the prem and champions league. I notice your first 11 tends to start almost every game and must get pretty tired, just wondering whats the lowest fitness you'll allow a starter to be?

With the 3 physios I have on board, I'm able to keep my players at 95% conditioning or better in between most games. They will be in the high 80s sometimes if we have two games in 3 or 4 days, but otherwise I don't have a problem with fatigue. After each game I rest my players for 1 day and then usually don't have a problem getting them in shape for the next match.

As for the lowest fitness level, I like to have everyone on the pitch at 90% or better. I also look to sub out players once they get below 70% during a game, although the conditions within the game will ultimately dictate things. If I'm winning, I'm subbing out tired legs. If I'm losing, I may sub out players that are underperforming or that look gassed on the pitch.
Wow mate living legend! great achievement loving the story.
If you get chance i would love to see the squads for a few teams around you, say united, city, arsenal etc maybe few big europeen teams aswell be realy interesting to see whos moved where in 2020.

Great job man!

I always hear about people who start a game with a weak team. But i've never seen anything like that!!

I'm with CALLA83: show us where the known wonderkids are playing. I'd love to see how players like lukaku, neymar, etc developed.

Keep it up!!
@CALLA83 and neryan - feel free to give me a list of some teams and players and I'll grab some screenshots later today. Glad you guys enjoy the story!
So what do you plan on doing next then mate? It would seem you have achieved a ridiculous amount at Newport County, what's the next step in your career? Are you staying on or will you eventually look to find a new job? :)
