What a result against Bolton. Not a bad league position. Do need to win more games but not doing bad tbh. Can't believe Swansea, Everton and West Brom are struggling quite a shock

Saints Edge Past Rams

Southampton narrowly beat Derby County 1-0 in the Carling Cup Quarter Final. Left back Dan Harding scored the only goal of the game but Derby had a goal chalked off by Howard Webb because Miles Addison allegedly committed a foul on Craig Dawson. Saints had a number off opportunity's wasted and should have take their chances to extend the lead.

Saints Draw Burnley

Southampton have been drawn with Burnley in the Carling Cup Semi-Finals. Newcastle have drawn Liverpool or Milwall.

Saints Leave It Late

Southampton left it incredibly late to draw 1-1 with Stoke City at the Britannia Stadium. A dull first half with no goals went into half time. In the second half however, things started to light up, when Fredy Guarin put the home side ahead after 68 minutes. Stoke had thought they won until, two minutes into stoppage time, Hogan Eprahim's deflected strike found its way into the Potters net. This was the QPR loanees third goal for the Saints and was probably his most valuable.

Southampton Ease Past Toffees

Southampton have beaten Everton 3-1 at St Mary's Stadium to extend their good run of form. Rickie Lambert put the home side in the lead after just two minutes with a stunning 25 yard effort but apart from that, it was a rather uneventful first half. Portuguese centre back Jose Fonte scored a header from an Adam Lallana corner and Lallana got a goal himself after Rickie Lambert found the young midfielder with a good through ball. Jack Rodwell pulled one back with a fantastic strike from at least 30 yards. Southampton rise to 13th in the league while Everton stay in 18th.

Saints Hold Red Devils At Home

Southampton and top of the league Manchester United drew 1-1 at St Mary's Stadium in the days early kick off. Javier Hernandez put United ahead after nine minutes with a good solo effort but Southampton midfielder Morgan Schneiderlin had to come off injured just before half time. Birger Maertens also had to come off injured in the second half before Frenchman Yaya Sanogo scored a penalty after Phil Jones handled in the area. Jose Fonte completed a hat trick of injury's for Southampton. The Saints will definitely be the happier side at half time but to United it will seem like two points dropped.
