Former City And Arsenal Goalkeeper Joins Saints

Goalkeeper Stuart Taylor has signed for Southampton on a free transfer after being released by Manchester City. He failed to make a single appearance for the Citizens in his three years at the club. Nineteen year old Keanu Marsh-Brown has also signed for Southampton on a free after contract talks with Oldham broke down. The youngster also used to play for Fulham.

Theo Walcott secured the win for Great Britain in the 77th minute although the match was marred when Daniel Sturridge had to be substituted due to injury. Great Britain U23's lost their first match of the campaign thanks to the Ivory Coast scoring a late goal. Lacina Traore scored the only goal in what was a rather dull game in which Team GB had plenty of chances but didn't take any of them. Despite the loss, GB U23's still ended top of the table and have qualified for the quarter finals.

Team GB Lose In Quarter Final

Gerard Pique scored the only goal of the game with a header after a David Silva corner. Adam Walker said after the match "It was totally my fault in the selection of my squad. In hindsight, I realise I should have picked Joe Hart instead of Declan Rudd. No offence to Declan but Joe is a lot better than him."

Southampton Unlucky To Lose

Southampton narrowly lost 1-0 at home to Sunderland. Former Boca Juniors striker Lucas Viatri scored the only goal of the game. The Saints will be somewhat disappointed with the loss after dominating the game but not converting any of their chances. Two of Southampton's key players, Dan Harding and Adam Lallana, had to come off due to injury.

Southampton Unfortunate Not To Get Result

Tottenham and Southampton produced a thrilling game which finished 4-3 to the home side. Gareth Bale scored inside the first minute against his former club and the lead was doubled when Tom Huddlestone scored following a goalmouth scramble. Luka Modric then extended Spurs' lead on 19 minutes and make the score 3-0 going into half-time. Morten Gamst-Pederson got his first Southampton goal just after the break to give the visitors a chance. Kyle Walker then scored a calamitous own goal to half Tottenham's lead. Salomon Rondon then secured the win for Spurs but the Saints didn't go down without a fight when Rickie Lambert scored a penalty in the last minute after Scott Parker's foul.

Southampton And Fulham Level

Both Southampton and Fulham picked up their first points of the season in a thrilling 1-1 draw at St Mary's Stadium. Southampton were favourites going into the match but would have been disappointed when Bryan Ruiz put the visitors ahead just before half-time. Rickie Lambert equalised for Southampton thanks to a delightful cross from Danny Fox. Yaya Sanogo forced Mark Schwarzer to pull off some fantastic saves and Landry N'Guemo had the chance to win it for the Cottagers but couldn't convert the chance.
