England Surprise Favourites Brazil!

Brazil 0-2 England
Romulo
Zamora
Rooney

Line-Up:(4-2-2)Joe Hart, Glen Johnson, Phil Jagielka, John Terry, Leighton Baines, Scott Parker, Frank Lampard, Stewart Downing, Steven Gerrard, Wayne Rooney, Bobby Zamora.

England shocked favourites Brazil in the opening match of the 2013 Confederations Cup. England really showed why they should be 1st in the World Rankings by coming out of their skin after a quiet first half. Romulo helped England a little by forcing himself to take an early bath but in truth England were by far the better side.

England are now 1st in Group A with Japan and New Zealand left to play respectively.

England Comfortably Win

England 2-0 New Zealand
Bent
Jagielka
Gerrard

Line-Up:(4-3-3)Joe Hart, Glen Johnson, Phil Jagielka, John Terry, Leighton Baines, Scott Parker, Frank Lampard, Steven Gerrard, Darren Bent, Wayne Rooney, Bobby Zamora.

England eased past a poor New Zealand team to stay top of Group A. They dominated the whole game- having 25 shots to New Zealand's 2. Smith had decided this was the right game to try out a new tactic and it seemed to work better than the other tactic as it was more attacking and if Rooney and Zamora had been better it would have been 7 or 8.

Three Lions Thrash Japan

England 3-0 Japan
Yagi
Bent
Rooney
Gerrard
Gerrard

Line-Up:(4-3-3) Joe Hart, Glen Johnson, Phil Jagielka, John Terry, Leighton Baines, Scott Parker, Frank Lampard, Steven Gerrard, Darren Bent, Wayne Rooney, Bobby Zamora.

England beat a poor-disciplined Japanese side to win Group A. They were practically gifted the game by Tamotsu Yagi as he was sent-off for a vicious challenge. And England never looked back from there as they dominated the match and again had the majority of shots - with 18 to Japan's 7. John Smith's new tactic seems to be working like a dream. England will now face the runners-up of Group B which is likely to either be South Africa or Uruguay.

In other news, Sir Alex Ferguson has retired from football after 27 years in charge. Whoever takes over at Man United will have a hard job to live up to.

England Make The Final

England 3-0 Mexico
Rooney (2)
Lampard
Lampard

Line-Up:(4-3-3) Joe Hart, Glen Johnson, Phil Jagielka, Joleon Lescott, Leighton Baines, Scott Parker, Gareth Barry, Frank Lampard, Darren Bent, Wayne Rooney, Bobby Zamora.

England beat Mexico to reach the final of the Confederations Cup for the first time. Manager John Smith had rested Steven Gerrard for Gareth Barry so he was ready for the final- if they got there. Wayne Rooney and Frank Lampard were on fire and England will now wait to see if they play either Spain or Brazil in the final.

In other news, Harry Redknapp, Arsene Wenger and Roy Hodgson have all retired from football. This means 3 more Premier League clubs are looking for managers now.

England Win Confederations Cup

England 1-1 Brazil (5-4 on pens)
Damiao
Rooney
Damiao

Line-Up:(4-3-3) Joe Hart, Glen Johnson, Phil Jagielka, Joleon Lescott, Leighton Baines, Scott Parker, Frank Lampard, Steven Gerrard, Darren Bent, Wayne Rooney, Bobby Zamora.

England lifted another piece of silverware after they won the Confederations Cup. Brazil were overall the better team but England held strong and brought the match to penalties. It seemed John Smith's men had worked hard on their penalties and didn't miss a single one. Unfortunately, after his injury, John Terry has decided to step down as England captain and John Smith will have to decide who to choose.

Line-Up:(4-2-2-2) Rob Green, Micah Richards, Gary Cahill, Chris Smalling, Leighton Baines, Scott Parker, Jack Rodwell, Adam Johnson, Aaron Lennon, Daniel Sturridge, Wayne Rooney.

England carried on a good win streak with a decent win over the minnows of Cyprus. Substitute Steven Gerrard was the outstanding player as England scored all 3 goals after he had come on at half-time. Manager John Smith changed 9 players from their Confederations Cup win and he says he feels his players are ready for the next matches in the World Cup Qualifiers.

Smith Quits Wigan Post

John Smith has quit his post as manager at Wigan Athletic. In an interview he said: " The Wigan post was just a try-out. I have to say I think Wigan are a fantastic team and I wish them very best in the future. I left as I think it was putting me off my England job a bit. I am now truly focussed on England now.

Poor England Only Manage Draw

Gusev

Line-Up:(4-3-3) Joe Hart, Glen Johnson, Phil Jagielka, Gary Cahill, Leighton Baines, Scott Parker, James Milner, Frank Lampard, Bobby Zamora, Wayne Rooney, Theo Walcott.

England failed to impress as they dropped their first points of their World Cup Qualifying Campaign. They now have 3 games left to secure their place in Rio. They have 19 points and are 5 points clear of 2nd place Montenegro.
