Why Liverpool?

There are a few simple reasons why I have decided to take on the reins of my beloved Liverpool FC. I love the club and have supported them all my life and I feel that, as do most Liverpool fans, that we are long overdue some success, i.e. the Premier League title. We are a club with a very proud history, the Paisley and Shankly eras stand out to all fans, and we are slowly but surely being left in the wilderness. We have gone too long without the silverware that we so dearly want so I hope to bring it to the club at last.

My hopes are to emulate what the two previously mentioned legends achieved and help The Reds get back to the top of the league and stay there long into the future. I firmly believe that at the top of the Premier League is where the club belongs and we rightly deserve to be in the Champions League after all our success in the competition.

Football Manager wise I have recently been focusing on lower league management in order to get use to the game. I have now decided to step up to a challenge I feel matches that of managing at a smaller club. Liverpool FC are not the force that they once were; we can no longer be referred to as one of the top four in my opinion and simply trying to get Liverpool FC back to the top will be a difficult challenge. It will however be a challenge that I will relish and put my all into.

Game Set-Up

Just a brief note on the set up of the game. I have decided to upload all the top leagues only from Spain, Italy, Germany and France (all the leagues from England are being used) with nobody being allowed to conduct any transfers in the first transfer window apart from loans and free transfers. Banning transfers from the start I feel will make it a more difficult task for me but a more realistic one.
YNWA! Good luck getting through with only Borini as backup striker :P. Hopefully Stevie won't get injured that often.
A Liverpool story! Hope you make it good. Will be following.

P.S. Arvind, Borini scored a total of more than 40 goals for me between 2014 and 2015 :P

I think the games up to January will be tough with Borini being my only backup. Any suggestions for who to try and get it January?

I too hope to make it good. Really going for it with this one. How much will Arvind cost do you think? Any other suggestions of who to bring in?
Dani Pacheco is a stunning striker so play him regularly!.

P.S. I budgeted my money for a total of £51.5M with LFC in 1st season so wait till Jan to buy a huge player if you must!

Do you think it would be possible to go the whole season, do well and still avoid singing anyone? Would have a huge amount to spend come summer that way.
You could but you would really need to embrace Shelvey and Pacheco early on.

Tactics

Captain - Steven Gerrard

Vice Captain - Martin Skrtel

Pre Season

Despite us not playing many “Friendlies,” the European games provided me with a chance to play with players positions and to try out some of the youngsters. I think the preparation could have been better, for example we could have had some tougher games and not wasted time playing against the reserves. However, being a new manager it was probably better for us to try and get as many wins under our belts so that the players begin to trust me being in charge of the squad.
I can't stand the sight of Downing and Hendo still being there for more than 6 months. Get rid. You're weak in the wings anyway. Assaidi didn't do well for me and Sterling is still 17. Downing is shit of course. You also probably won't have an CAM type player to backup Stevie. Except Suso, of course.

So, my advice is to sell all the rubbish in and get 2-3 quality players and 2 quality youngsters in Jan. Will be a challenge to even get to Jan because I generally run into very tough teams in that period, and players tend to get injured a lot then.
Why would you replace Carra as vice-captain? :'(
Why look for something you already have? I've had success with Shelvey and Hendo in midfield. Suso is quality in game and Pacheco is nothing short of spectacular. Anyway, enought with the ranting :P

I agree with your comments on Downing. I don't understand why he was ever bought and I plan on getting rid, however I will probably wait until the end of the season. Henderson on the other hand I intend on keeping for the long term. He is not bad as a backup and his ability to play in a variety of positions will come in handy. Thank you for the advice - it will be noted.

2012-12-19 08:37#72923 Glenn T : Why would you replace Carra as vice-captain? :'(

Carragher is a difficult one to get my head round. An all round legend of the club and he deserves to be vice captain. However, I don't intend on playing him apart from in the FA and Capital One Cup games. He may make the odd appearence in the Europa League but only if needed. This resulted in me choosing Skrtel who will start every game that he can. He is going to be playing more, and much more than Carragher, so deserves his chance at the role. Sorry to have disappointed you.

I have already taken your earlier advice on board Rookie and have looked to fit Shelvey in on a regular basis. Suso however will have to wait his turn. Yes I am sure he will become a great player for me but I think I need to integrate him at a much slower pace. Thanks for reading Rookie and yes, do stop ranting!
