It was annoying more than anything. Based on Gerrard's two goals alone we deserved a draw minimum. Will get revenge next time I hope.

Aside the match against Manchester United the month went really well. We are making fantastic progress in the Europa League. LOSC and Dinamo Moscow are the two teams that I feared the most in the group. They added an extra edge to it which meant that it would not be plain sailing when we came up against them. Dinamo Moscow was a pushover and put up very little resistance whereas it was a nerve jangling encounter against French outfit LOSC. Norwich almost grabbed a late equaliser but the defence stood strong. All in all it was a very good month.

Player of the Month – Danny Wilson

Looks like you're doing really well in general, but struggling against big teams. Interesting that Wilson is player of the month.

We are getting consistent results and a lot of those results are wins. We just don't appear to be winning confidently, it always seems to be a struggle even against "lesser" teams. We aren't exactly blessed with players who can create a bit of magic or just attacking potential. This will have to be the focus of my improving of the squad although the budget is very small.

Wilson was used quite a bit this month and he performed extremely well. I have lost a bit of faith in Enrique so plan on using Wilson in the left back position more often.

Thank you for reading and I'm looking forward to reading about your effort at managing the mighty Liverpool FC.

We went into this long month and simply won the games we were expected to win and drew and lose the games we weren’t expected to win. It was a long hard month for the players and it finished with disappointment of not being able to beat another close rival. This was made even harder to take after the abysmal performance against Arsenal. As it gets closer to December the more I am considering investing in the squad; the thing that is stopping me trying to do this early is the appalling transfer budget I have at my disposal. This will mean players have to leave but I am really not sure of who to try and offload.

Europa League Group Stage Review

The group stage was pretty much plain sailing from the very start. I had been quite worried about a few of the away games, especially to Dinamo Moscow but my team showed that they are not pushovers and that they want to take the competition seriously, as do I. The competition has provided me with the chance to give some of the youngsters a run out alongside more experienced players who have not been featuring much such as Jamie Carragher. They have all performed admirably and I think the experience has benefited them hugely. I have to admit the 3-0 loss did ruin our clean sweep of all 18 points but we had qualified as winners of the group already so it didn’t dampen our spirits. I do intend on going into future games, in this competition, with the aim to win and to win well.

You can laugh all you want but he has put in some brilliant performances which have been much needed. I can't obviously rely on the likes of Sterling who every time he shoots he hits a fan. I had been planning to get rid of Downing as soon as possible but I think he can stay...for now.

League Table

Review

Could this month have gone any better for the club? It is certainly going to be hard to beat. A comfortable win against West Brom (who did not put up much resistance) followed by a poor showing against LOSC. This did not matter in respects to the Europa League group result but there was the chance it would have a damaging effect on the team’s morale. It didn’t. To beat both Manchester City and Chelsea, one after the other, is a remarkable achievement; even more so as City had destroyed us in the Capital One cup earlier in the season. I was sad to see however Di Matteo get sacked from Chelsea after my side beat his; another rash decision by the owner.

The team have been in great scoring form and dispatched of Sunderland, Swansea and Southampton with no problems at all. The game against Newcastle United was a funny one. I had set the team out to achieve a draw as I feel St James’s Park is a tough place to go. Especially as Newcastle have had a great start to their season. We went there and got what we set out to do so I can’t complain. I was disappointed that we only scrapped past Wigan but a win is a win and it has helped us keep up with the pace at the top of the league.

My expectations for the season have not changed. I want the team back into the Champions League; the Board of Directors have been more understanding of the club’s situation in regards to lack of depth and only expect the team to retain Europa League football next season. Can we win the league title? I don’t think we can at this point. The main reason for this negativity is that I have a £2million transfer budget so January is going to be very lack lustre in regards to players coming in. The current players I have got are on daft wages so teams don’t want them and who can blame them. January will be interesting but I don’t think you should expect much action happening at Anfield.

The Match

What have I learnt from this shambles of a performance? I have simply learnt that some of the players in the reserve team, who were given their chance to shine, are way below the standard that is expected at Liverpool FC. You could say the result was my fault as I tinkered with the team selection but you would still expect the players to perform. It isn’t like the whole team was made up of reserve team players so how we lost so badly I will never know; and at home! The defeat did hurt but I will be hoping the club as a whole move on from this and get back to focusing on our primary competition, the Premiership.

Transfer Rumours

I declared interest in Griezmann has he is a fantastic player who I have been a fan off in previous FM’s. He is a young player with a lot of already brilliant attributes. I feel that he would offer more to the team than my current crop of players. What is putting me off is the simple fact there is no transfer budget available and players are extremely hard to get rid of because of their sky high wages. I am really hoping nobody else tries to buy him and I can get some money at the end of the season and bring him to Anfield.

I have not even expressed any interest in this player and yet the club have been linked with him. He is only being linked as he is a young striker who has good potential. I don’t plan on making any bids to obtain his services so that rumours can be quashed right now.
He later signed for Tottenham for a fee of £11.5 million.

I have never heard of this player and I cannot understand why he has been linked with the club. There is absolutely no interest in him on my part.

Another young striker linked with the club and with good reason. I hadn’t heard of him but this popped up in my inbox but after taking a closer look he has a lot of potential. He is 21 years of age and already possess some talent which I think could be nurtured and developed with the correct training and game time. However, I have no money to spend whatsoever. I simply cannot afford a sum near what is being suggested that would be needed to obtain his services. A shame really as I think he could have been a big player for us in the future.

What an awful month this has been and the only reason I can fathom for this sudden change in form is the loss of Steven Gerrard to injury. He is undoubtedly the heart beat of the team and the squad just does not have the depth or quality to perform at a high standard when he is unavailable. I am desperate for him to come back as other results have gone our way and we are still in the title chase.
