Manager’s May/End of Season Review

May was such a good month for me and the team, we had already won the league and the preparation for the Champions League Final could begin. We knew that the fans wouldn’t expect our form to dip over the final three games and we made sure it didn’t, with 3 wins from 3 games. In them three games we scored 11 goals and only conceded 2.

The Champions League Final was a bit disappointing, I feel the pressure of our first final got to us and we didn’t perform to our highest level. It was upsetting to lose Nem in the first half to injury and worse for him because that injury is likely to rule him out of the World Cup in his own Country.

My player of the month for May is Samir Nasri. Nasri was playing for his place in the starting eleven for the Champions League Final and he impressed so much and got his start. He scored three goals and created plenty of chances in the two games he started. He will be hoping to contribute just as much next season and I am hoping he does too.

I was also awarded the Manager of the Month award for May, to which I am delighted to receive and I am proud of my players for not letting their performance drop even though the League title was won.

My end of the season review can begin with me saying how good it feels to be Champions of England! The team has been amazing all season and other than the devastating 5-1 defeat to United when the title had been won, we were brilliant all year and I am proud to be manager of this team. Not only did we win the League so comfortably but we also set a Premier League record for the most points in one season.

In the Champions League, I am delighted to have made our first ever Final but at the same time a little upset to have lost it, but United played well and their experience told in the Final. Again, our run to the final was special, we beat Real Madrid and Bayern Munich before beating Arsenal in the Semi’s and we hopefully have done the fans proud and will be hoping we can go on to win it next season.

In the two domestic Cup competitions we were disappointing. I was hoping to have a good run in the FA Cup but we came unstuck in the 4th round and that was my fault for not picking a strong team in the first game and leaving ourselves with too much to do in the replay. In the Capital One Cup, we played some of our younger players as is always the plan and we got beaten by a much better Everton side in the 4th Round.

My player of the season is a very tough decision, I could give it to so many of our players but I am going to give it to Matija Nastasic. He stepped up to the plate all season and deserves all the credit he gets, I signed Raphael Varane expecting him to start alongside Kompany, but Nastasic took the starters spot from the first game and never looked back. Not only did he defend well all season but he also chipped in with 7 goals.

A special mention does go to Yaya Toure who won the Players’ Player of the Year, Joe Hart who won the Golden Glove award and also to Wellington Nem who came runner-up in the Players’ Young Player of the Year. Also captain Vincent Kompany was named in the Champions League Dream Team for this season.

I am also happy and proud to announce I was named the Premier League’s Manager of the Year. After such an amazing year I was expecting to receive this and was happy when I received the message to say I had. The team deserve all of the credit for playing so well all season and they playing well makes my job a lot easier.

You know it's a shit season when Peter Crouch gets in Team of the Season :P
I can't believe Cavani or Aguero didn't get in! Crouch played really well though, Stoke did finish 6th so he must have been doing something right

Yeh :-) was a much happier day than the year before when he scored to knock us put of champs league place
How many goals did Crouch get?
He played 37 of Stoke's games last season, scored 14, 10 assists, 7 MOTM's and an average rating of 7.61...so not a bad season from him!

Manchester City are today proud to announce that they will be moving to a new Stadium for the 2015-16 season. City’s new Stadium will be named the Al Mubarak Arena and will have a capacity of 63,850, a large improvement on the current 47,500 capacity of the Etihad Stadium. City’s World Cup Bound Stars

Manchester City can boast about 14 of their current squad playing in this summer’s World Cup in Brazil, although three of them players are currently on loan at the Club.

Those expected to make the biggest impact are Belgian defender and City captain Vincent Kompany, Argentinian Striker Sergio Aguero and Uruguay’s City man, Edinson Cavani. Four of City’s players will play for England in this summer’s tournament and all will be hoping to bring the trophy back to England for the first time since 1966.

City To Sign Lampard, and Five Potential Stars

Manchester City have announced that they have completed the free signing of Chelsea midfielder Frank Lampard. Lampard’s contract at Chelsea expires on the 30th June and he was therefore able to negotiate a deal with City so that he signs for them on the 1st July.

http://i1269.photobucket.com/albums/jj595/MCFCDAP/LampardSigning_zpsb060b270.png

Lampard isn’t expected to play every game for Kinkladze’s Champions next season but his experience will be key in the middle of City’s midfield and their manager had this to say, “Frank is still a top class player, he showed that last year for Chelsea and I am surprised he isn’t on his way to Brazil for the World Cup. His experience in the Premier League and in the Champions League will be massive for us and I hope he can contribute to us retaining our Premier League title and maybe going one step further in the Champions League.”

City were also happy to announce the signing of five players all under the age of 18. City have paid quite a lot of money for some of these players and all are tipped to have long and successful careers in the game. City have paid £3.2m for 18 year old PSG French goalkeeper Habib Manga, £1.1m for Brazilian striker Marcio Roberto, who is 18 and comes from Sao Paulo, another Brazilian joins for £925k from Santos and his name is Junior and he can play as a striker or on the right wing, City have also spent a further £750k on a 16 year old Belgian striker called Daniel Biesmans and the final addition is a left back named Joao Serrano who signs from Sporting Lisbon on a free transfer.
How dare you sign a player from Sporting?! :P
