Saturday 23rd August 2014 – Bolton Wanderers v Manchester City (Premier League)

MCFC Starting XI – Hart, Richards, Kompany, Nastasic, Clichy; Nasri, Milner, Toure, Silva; Sneijder; Cavani SUBS – Forster, Zabaleta, Varane, Barry, Lampard, Humberto, de Jong

Bolton Starting XI – Bogdan, Ricketts, Mills, Hanlon, Willems; Holden, Rodwell, Andrews, Malone; Ngog, Fortune SUBS – Longergan, Whittaker, Eagles, Berget, Alonso, Davies, Aluko

City dominated the game in all areas of the stats and won’t believe they twice went behind to Bolton, but it was City’s superior strike force that gave City their second big scoring win of the season. Edinson Cavani has carried on his pre-season form with a hat trick today, and Sneijder made an impressive debut since his summer move.

Final Score – Bolton Wanderers 2 (Ngog 6, Berget 61) Manchester City 4 (Cavani 44, 68, 72, Nasri 83)

MOTM – Edinson Cavani

Attendance – 27,008

Champions League 2014/15 Group Stage Draw

For the first time, Manchester City have been put into Pot 1 for this year’s Group Stage draw. After making the Semi Finals two seasons ago and being runners up last year, many expected this to happen but City are said to be delighted at the news.

Manchester City have been placed in Group H alongside German side Bayer Levenkusen, Portugese regulars Sporting Lisbon and Slovenian side Maribor. City will be delighted with their Group and will be expected to top the Group with ease.

Holders Manchester United have also been given a relatively easy Group by drawing Benfica, Olympiakos and Hoffenheim. While Spanish Champions Barcelona face the toughest Group, having been drawn alongside Juventus, Dortmund and Partizan. Barcelona will also have to get through the Group Stage without star player Lionel Messi who broke his leg in their game against Real Madrid two days before the draw.
Am I right in thinking that you will purposely be losing to Sporting? ;) :P
Haha we'll see mate! Im going for them to finish 2nd in our group :)

Saturday 30th August 2014 – Arsenal v Manchester City (Premier League)

In the Carling Cup Third Round draw, City will face an away trip to Pride Park to face Derby County.

MCFC Starting XI - Hart, Richards, Kompany, Nastasic, Clichy; Nasri, Milner, Toure, Silva; Sneijder; Cavani SUBS – Forster, Zabaleta, Varane, Barry, Lampard, Humberto, de Jong

Arsenal Starting XI – Szczesny, Sagna, Koscielny, Vermaelen, Armero; Wilshere, Lucas; Oxlade-Chamberlain, Holtby, Cazorla; Llorente SUBS – Fabianski, Griezmann, Giroud, Arteta, Mertesacker, Walcott, Gervinho

Arsenal played extremely well today and limited the amount of chances City could create, and also managed to score the only goal of the game. The communication between Richards and Hart broke down and Llorente was able to capilise to give Arsenal the 1-0 win. City will turn to two moments in the game that changed it for them, when Cavani was stretchered off and David Silva was also forced off through injury, both players will miss the next 3 weeks.

Final Score – Arsenal 1 (Llorente 31) Manchester City 0

MOTM – Wojciech Szczesny

Attendance – 60,361
Ah well, you can't win every time :(
Hard luck m8 :(

Transfer Window/Deadline Day

Another busy summer for most teams is about to come to end, deadline day is here once again! Champions Manchester City did their biggest pieces of business early in the summer by spending £14.75m on Wesley Sneijder, £9.5m on Celtic ‘keeper Fraser Forster, bringing Frank Lampard in on a free transfer and have also spent a considerable amount of money on younger players.

It was down to other teams to try and catch City and plenty of teams have tried spending money to catch up to the Champions. Last year’s runners-up and Champions League winners, Manchester United, have spent over £100m bringing in Christian Eriksen, Javi Martinez and Alex Song. These 3 players definitely make United’s midfield look formidable and we will see how they compete this season.

Arsenal also spent a lot of money bringing in Lucas Leiva from Liverpool for £26.5m, Marco Verratti from PSG and Ladislav Krejci from Dortmund. Many Arsenal fans will be hoping these big arrivals will see them rise up the table and compete again for the Premier League crown.

Deadline Day 11.00 – Podolski Moves Back To The Etihad

Manchester City have completed a season long loan deal for Lukas Podolski from Arsenal. Podolski spent the last 6 months of last season at City but his spell was ruined by a knee injury having scored 2 goals in 5 games for the Manchester side.

After a relatively quiet deadline day, it seems most Club’s had done their main business before today. The main deals are listed below.

Sunday 14th September 2014 – Manchester City v Liverpool (Premier League)

City received some positive news during the International break with several players returning from injury in time for the game, but along with them came the disappointing news that Wesley Sneijder was injured playing for Holland and will miss three weeks, and James Milner will miss the next 2 weeks with a virus.

MCFC Starting XI –Hart, Richards, Kompany, Nastasic, Clichy; Nasri, De Rossi, Toure, Nem; de Jong; Podolski SUBS – Forster, Zabaleta, Varane, Barry, Bale, Lampard, Guidetti

Liverpool Starting XI – Reina, Corluka, Skrtel, Kelly, Assou-Ekotto; Allen, Garcia; Lee, Gerrard, Suarez; Carroll SUBS – Konigshofer, Johnson, Henderson, Konoplyanka, Ruiz, Dawson, Coates

City were desperately lacking a creative spark up front and rarely threatened the Liverpool goal, although they completely dominated the play. For Man City, the return of Sergio Aguero can’t come quickly enough.

Final Score – Manchester City 0 Liverpool 0

MOTM – Joe Allen

Attendance – 47,405

Wednesday 17th September 2014 – Manchester City v Bayer Leverkusen (Champions League Group H)

MCFC Starting XI – Hart, Zabaleta, Varane, Nastasic, Clichy; Nasri, Barry, Lampard, Bale; de Jong; Guidetti SUBS – Panitilimon, Lescott, Kompany, De Rossi, Toure, Nem, Aguero

Leverkusen Starting XI – Leno, Schwaab, Okore, Wollscheid, Kadlec; Hegeler, Jenssen; Kiebling, Pamic, Contento; Cornelius SUBS – Rensing, Castro, Carvajal, dos Santos, Santander, Reinartz, Lucas

A brilliant European contest at the Etihad Stadium as both teams were at the top of their game but one moment of brilliance from Samir Nasri gave Guidetti the chance to score the winner and he made no mistake. City will be delighted with a win in their first Champions League game of the season, and will be just as happy as Aguero played 30minutes on his comeback from injury.

Final Score – Manchester City 1 (Guidetti 12) Bayer Leverkusen 0

MOTM – Gareth Barry

Attendance – 46,916
Good to see Guidetti on the scoresheet for once :)

Hopefully form will start to pick up again now

Sunday 21st September 2014 – Manchester City v Wolverhampton Wanderers (Premier League)

MCFC Starting XI – Hart, Richards, Kompany, Lescott, Clichy; Zurak, De Rossi, Toure, Humberto; de Jong; Podolski SUBS – Forster, Zabaleta, Nastasic, Barry, Bale, Nem, Aguero

Wolves Starting XI – Hennessey, Foley, Berra, Stearman, Ward; Henry, Karacan; Doyle, Chipclu, Hajrovic; Chamakh SUBS – Frei, Shinnie, Odoi, Vetokele, Batth, Reo-Coker, Sako

City deserved all three points but will be slightly disappointed with only scoring one goal. There was only one side in it and that was made even more so when Karacan was sent off for Wolves with half an hour to go.

Final Score – Manchester City 1 (Podolski 43) Wolverhampton Wanderers 0

MOTM – Yaya Toure

Attendance – 46,944

Tuesday 23rd September 2014 – Derby County v Manchester City (Capital One Cup Third Round)

MCFC Starting XI – Forster, van der Wiel, Varane, Nastasic, Ramon; Nasri, Barry, Lampard, Nem; Adryan; Aguero SUBS – Pantilimon, Kompany, Zabaleta, Toure, Silva, Blanco, Cavani

Derby Starting XI – Fielding, McNaughton, Keogh, O’Brien, Paito; Hendrick, Coutts, Hughes, Bryson; Sammon, Ward SUBS – Shoretire, Gjokaj, Lelan, Maloney, Ibeh, Barker, Freeman

When City took a 3-0 lead at half time, many thought the game was over and City would move comfortably into the next round but Uwe Rosler wouldn’t let his side go down without a fight. Derby made it 3-2 before a Barry penalty gave City a 4-2 lead, and still Derby wouldn’t give up and scored to make it 4-3 with 2 minutes to go, but it wasn’t quite enough and City advance to the 4th Round where they will face Arsenal at the Etihad Stadium.

Final Score – Derby County 3 (Sammon 61, 72 Maloney 88(p)) Manchester City 4 (Aguero 25, 45 Nem 32, Barry 84(p))

MOTM – Conor Sammon

Attendance – 33,455
Wow, that Derby match must have been nervy!
It was a strange game mate, thought it was over at half time and then suddenly they decided to turn up, glad we got through though :)

Saturday 27th September 2014 – Newcastle United v Manchester City (Premier League)

MCFC Starting XI – Hart, Richards, Kompany, Nastasic, Clichy; Zurak, De Rossi, Toure, Nem; Silva; Cavani SUBS – Forster, Zabaleta, Varane, Milner, Nem, Aguero, Podolski

Newcastle Starting XI – Krul, Toure, Coloccini, Dawson, Santon; Lennon, Cabaye, Tiote, Gutierrez; Ba, Cisse SUBS – Sifakis, Djourou, Taylor, Anderson, Ameobi, Simpson, Taylor

Another defeat for Manchester City and already they have lost more games this season than they did in the first 33 games of last year. City didn’t create many chances really and the best chance Newcastle created was easily finished by Cisse. Gael Clichy was injured during the game and will miss the next 2 weeks.

Final Score – Newcastle United 1 (Cisse 29) Manchester City 0

MOTM – Davide Santon

Attendance – 52,200

http://i1269.photobucket.com/albums/jj595/MCFCDAP/ChampsBanner_zps08644156.png

Tuesday 30th September 2014 – Sporting Lisbon v Manchester City (Champions League Group H)

MCFC Starting XI – Hart, Richards, Kompany, Varane, Zabaleta; Nasri, Barry, Lampard, Bale; de Jong; Cavani SUBS – Pantilimon, Lescott, Nastasic, Toure, Milner, Nem, Aguero

Sporting Starting XI – Patricio, Soares, Juhasz, Rojo, Fabio Santos; Fernandes, Souza, Elias; Eduardo, Bruma; van Wolfswinkel SUBS – Boeck, Labyad, Rogerio, Rubio, Cossa, Andre Santos, Voila

A tightly contested affair in Portugal ends goalless as neither side could create a telling chance to take all three points. Again Manchester City seem to be struggling to create chances and something will need to change soon if they are to do what they did last season.

Final Score – Sporting Lisbon 0 Manchester City 0

MOTM – Roland Juhasz

Attendance – 47,372
