Sunday 16th August 2015 – Manchester City v Stoke City (Premier League)

The opening league fixture of the season and the first competitive game to be played at Man City’s new Al Mubarak Arena. An unbelievable new Arena for English football to admire and the home to this years favourites to win the Premier League, can City live up to expectation this year and challenge Jose Mourinho’s Manchester United? Only time will tell and the season kicks off here.

MCFC Starting XI – Hart, Richards, Kompany, Nastasic, Ramon; Nasri, Toure, Gaimaro, Nem; Aguero; Cavani SUBS – Forster, Zabaleta, Varane, De Rossi, Bale, Blanco, Suarez

The first competitive goal at the Al Mubarak Arena was scored by a man who perhaps scored one of the most vital goals of City’s recent history, that was against Stoke too at Wembley and was very similar to today’s goal. Yaya Toure smashed home from 12 yards out to give City their first win at the new Stadium as well. City were forced to play the final 15 minutes with 10 men, as minutes after Kinkladze made his final substitute, debutant Gaimaro got injured.

Final Score – Manchester City 1 (Toure 33) Stoke City 0

Sneijder Heads For Stadium Of Light

Sunderland have completed the signing of Dutch attacking midfielder Wesley Sneijder. Sneijder has left Manchester City after only season for a fee of £9m but with potential for it to rise to £12.5m depending on appearances.

Sneijder’s spell at City wasn’t as successful as many would of hoped for, having only appeared 21 times for the Club following his £15m move from Inter Milan. Sunderland fans will be hoping their new signing can be the man to push them towards European football.
Great to win your first game in the new stadium. Good luck for this season :)
Nice turn around against Forest, that's what champions do! :)
Lets hope Sneijder flops at Sun'lun.
Nice result there, but it's a pity Sneijder didn't work out :/
