Saturday 21st November 2015 – Norwich City v Manchester City (Premier League)

During a busy international break a few City players picked up knocks but are likely to be back in action this week, although 2 definitely won’t. David Silva will miss the next 2 weeks, while Roberto Blanco will be out for around 3 months. Positive news from the international break saw Ruben Dario Gaimaro make his Argentina debut at the age of 18 and 18 year old Bolivian attacking midfielder Santos also made his international debut.

Despite being a Club for only a few months, Gaimaro has also signed a new 5 year deal with City hopefully this young potential will become the real deal in the next few years.

MCFC Starting XI – Hart, Richards, Kompany, Nastasic, Fanchone; De Rossi, Gaimaro; Nasri, Aguero, Nem; Cavani SUBS – Forster, Zabaleta, Varane, Toure, Milner, Pereyra, Suarez

Norwich Starting XI – Ruddy, Kelly, Bassong, Ayala, Aogo; E Bennett, Mellis, Foley, Bulot; Crouch, Pogrebnyak SUBS – Matthews, Hunt, Snodgrass, Mason, Chalmers, Seleznyov, Butterfield

City had 30 shots to Norwich’s 4 but still couldn’t come away from Carrow Road with all three points. City took the lead early on but a penalty, given away by Kompany, drew Norwich level at half time. A Crouch header just after half time gave Norwich a surprising lead but a scramble in the box was poked home by James Milner to salvage a point for City in a game they should have won.

Final Score – Norwich City 2 (Aogo 13(p), Crouch 51) Manchester City 2 (Aguero 10, Milner 82)

MOTM – Sebastien Bassong

Attendance – 25,288
I'm actually in love with your story, even as a United fan! Seems Norwich are a tough team to play, I struggle against them too. :P Keep up the amazing work! :)

Tuesday 24th November 2015 – Manchester City v Borussia Monchengladbach (Champions League Group F)

MCFC Starting XI – Forster, Zabaleta, Charles, Varane, Ramon; Barry, Milner; Pereyra, Zurak, Bale; Suarez SUBS – Hart, Nastasic, Richards, Toure, Nem, Nasri, Cavani

Gladbach Starting XI – ter Stegen, Jantschke, Dominguez, Nordtvelt, Juelsgard; Herrmann, Kouyate, Rabiot, Schieber; de Camargo, Gabbiadini SUBS – Agliardi, Zimmermann, Sorenson, Eikrem, Ondrasek, Affolter, Pluntke

A very stubborn defensive performance from Gladbach sees them go back to Germany with a very respectable point, as the game finished 0-0. City created plenty of chances and hit the woodwork 3 times but couldn’t put the ball in the back of the net. With Ajax beating Galatasaray, City will need just a point in Turkey to win the group.

Final Score – Manchester City 0 Borussia Monchengladbach 0

MOTM – Raphael Varane

Attendance – 62,427

Saturday 28th November 2015 – Manchester City v Liverpool (Premier League)

MCFC Starting XI – Hart, Richards, Kompany, Nastasic, Ramon; De Rossi, Toure; Nasri, Aguero, Nem; Cavani SUBS – Forster, Zabaleta, Varane, Milner, Zurak, Bale, Suarez

Liverpool Starting XI – Reina, Corluka, Skrtel, Bruma, Essou-Ekotto; Polanski; Lee, Allen, Livermore, Assaldi; Carroll SUBS – Berisha, Johnson, Dawson, Konoplyanka, Walcott, Eder, Shelvey

Manchester City were unbelievable today and really took the game to Liverpool from the off, despite City’s brilliant start it was Liverpool who took the lead with their only shot on target in the whole game, but two goals from Cavani and a stunner from Nasri gave City all three points.

Final Score – Manchester City 3 (Cavani 30, 45+1, Nasri 52) Liverpool 1 (Assaldi 24)

MOTM – Samir Nasri

Attendance – 61,285

Manager’s November Review

In the League we played 3 games this month and took 7 points, a convincing victory over Wigan started the month and then a battling draw at Norwich followed an international break. The month ended with a brilliant performance at home to Liverpool where we showed our class to convincingly beat them 3-1.

In the Champions League we cruised to victory over Ajax to put ourselves into the knock out stages for the 4th year running and then we drew at home to Gladbach which should give us qualification as group winners.

My player of the month goes to Daniele De Rossi. De Rossi is in a current run of form that shows why I paid £40m for him over 3 years ago, I feel he hasn’t really lived up to the hype but he has shown this month his talent and scored a stunning 35 yard strike against Ajax.

Tuesday 1st December 2015 – Manchester City v Manchester United (Capital One Cup Quarter Final)

City and United have traded League titles for the past 5 years and they meet today for a place in the Semi Final’s of the Capital One Cup. City are the current holders and will be hoping for another trip to Wembley in February, while United will be hoping to beat City and have a shot at going to Wembley themselves. This is also the first meeting of the teams at City’s new Al Mubarak Stadium.

MCFC Starting XI – Forster, Zabaleta, Charles, Nastasic, Fanchone; Barry, Gaimaro; Pereyra, Santos, Cucchi; Suarez SUBS – Hart, Ramon, Kompany, Toure, Bale, Nasri, Cavani

MUFC Starting XI – De Gea, Jones, Nkoulou, Smalling, Baines; Song, Javi Martinez; Nani, Kagawa, Ramirez; Rooney SUBS – Lindegaard, Azpilicueta, Evans, Eriksen, Gillett, Vidic, Fletcher

Disaster struck for City at the first derby at their new Stadium and in the bid to retain their Capital One Cup trophy, as they were embarrassed by United. United were 3-0 up within 17 minutes and City had no answer, things got worse for City when Barry missed a penalty before half time. City fans would have been hoping for a reaction in the second half but that became more unlikely when United made it four. City were knocked out in Quarter Final by their closest rivals and their fans will not be happy with their display and neither will their manager.

Final Score – Manchester City 0 Manchester United 4 (Nani 3, Rooney 9, Nkoulou 18, Eriksen 59)

MOTM – Chris Smalling

Attendance – 63,850

Sunday 6th December 2015 – Aston Villa v Manchester City (Premier League)

City will face Watford in the FA Cup Third Round at the Al Mubarak Arena.

MCFC Starting XI – Hart, Richards, Kompany, Nastasic, Ramon; De Rossi, Toure; Nasri, Aguero, Nem; Cavani SUBS – Forster, Zabaleta, Varane, Milner, Bale, Santos, Marcio Roberto

Villa Starting XI – Guzan, Piris, Vlaar, Hangeland, Izaguirre; Hamad, Makoun, Williams, Ince; Bent, Salihi SUBS – Lindner, Schimpelsberger, Clark, Gardner, Agbonlahor, Bennett, Falah

City came to Villa Park hoping for three points and didn’t let their fans down. City dominated the first half but only managed one goal from an Aguero free kick. In the second half De Rossi was sent off for a second bookable offence and many would have expected Villa to get back into it but they didn’t, City just got stronger. Nasri made it 2-0, before 18 year old substitute Marcio Roberto turned in the box and won a penalty that was scored by Milner, and then in the 90th minute Marcio Roberto scored his first ever career goal when he powered home from 18 yards to make it 4-0.

The defeat for Villa lead to the Chairman and board sacking manager Gianfranco Zola.

Final Score – Aston Villa 0 Manchester City 4 (Aguero 20, Nasri 75, Milner 84(p), Marcio Roberto 90)

MOTM – Matija Nastasic

Wednesday 9th December 2015 – Galatasaray v Manchester City (Champions League Group F)

MCFC Starting XI – Forster, Richards, Charles, Varane, Toase; Barry, Milner; Pereyra, Zurak, Bale; Cavani SUBS – Hart, Ramon, Kompany, Toure, Nem, Nasri, Aguero

City went to Turkey knowing that avoiding defeat would mean they won the group, but a stunning individual performance from Ismail Ozen meant City suffered a heavy defeat and finish as runners up in Group F. Although Ozen scored a hat trick, it will be goalkeeper Muslera who they have to thank for keeping out numerous City shots and keeping his side in it in the first 10 minutes.

Final Score – Galatasaray 4 (Altintop 15, Ozen 24, 34, 48) Manchester City 0

MOTM – Ismail Ozen

Attendance – 52,695

Sunday 13th December 2015 – Tottenham Hotspur v Manchester City (Premier League)

Prior to the game City lost Edinson Cavani for the whole Christmas period with a groin strain, City will turn to Sergio Aguero to play a more forward role with the out of favour Luis Suarez likely to feature again. Today’s game with Spurs is also manager Georgi Kinkladze’s 200th game in management.

MCFC Starting XI – Hart, Richards, Kompany, Nastasic, Ramon; Milner, Toure; Nasri, Santos, Nem; Aguero SUBS – Forster, Zabaleta, Varane, Zurak, Gaimaro, Pereyra, Marcio Roberto

Spurs Starting XI – Lloris, Walker, Kaboul, Vertonghen, Schennikov; N’Diaye, Sandro, Xhaka; Sosa, Young; Adebayor SUBS – Gomes, Bressan, Sigurosson, Oliviera, Ifa, Anderson, Valencia

Spurs take the 3 points today purely on the fact they took there chances. City created plenty but failed to find the net for the second time in 4 days and will face a tough Christmas period in a bid to win back the Premier League crown.

Final Score – Tottenham Hotspurs 1 (Sandro 19) Manchester City 0

MOTM – Sandro

Attendance – 48,061

City made hard work of Southampton today but their supporters will just be happy to walk away with the three points. Despite dominated the game and having three times the amount of shots their opponents did, City could never put the game out of reach with their manager having to revert to 5 at the back for the final 5 minutes to sure up his defence. City also handed a league debut to Gabriel Augusto.

Final Score – Manchester City 2 (Zurak 4, Toure 22) Southampton 1 (Davis 20)

Champions League First Knock Out Stage Draw

The three English teams enter the First Knock Out stage with hopes of going far in this year’s Champions League. Manchester United will go into the draw as Group winners and avoid teams like Barcelona, Bayern and Juventus but could face the tough draw of Real Madrid. While Manchester City and holders Arsenal both finished as runners up and could face the toughest teams in the competition.

Manchester United will face a tough tie against French champions Paris Saint-Germain and will feel a little aggrieved after winning their group. Manchester City will have a chance of revenge as they take on the team that knocked them out of the competition last year, as they face Juventus, while holders Arsenal will face the winners of Man City’s group, Galatasaray.

Without doubt the biggest tie of the round sees Real Madrid face Bayern Munich, in the other ties, Barcelona face Porto, Zenit face Bayer Leverkusen, Shakhtar will play Marseille and Lyon will face Olympiakos.
