Deadline Day/Transfer Window

Another summer and another transfer window, and of course that brings the excitement of another transfer deadline day. With some big deals already agreed this summer, many expect today to be a quiet day.

Deadline Day 14.00 – City Sign Pereyra

Manchester City have completed the signing of Argentinian winger Roberto Pereyra from Udinese. City have agreed to pay a fee of £6.5m for the winger that is relatively unknown in England but at 24 is an established footballer in his own right.

City also announced they have signed another player from Udinese, with left back Jean-Alain Fanchone joining on loan until the end of the season. Following the departure of Gael Clichy, City’s manager felt they needed an experienced left back should any of his promising stars begin to feel the effects of the Premier League campaign.

Transfer Window Round-Up

This summer’s transfer window has seen plenty of money exchange hands, with some big deals taking place that saw players leaving English sides. The biggest deal saw Stevan Jovetic leave Chelsea for Barcelona for £40m, David Alaba left Spurs for PSG for around £21.5m, while Marco Verratti left Arsenal for Porto in a deal worth around £19.5m. Chelsea used there money to sign Danny Welbeck from Manchester United for £24m, and Jose Mourinho spent that money to bring a familiar face in Cesar Azpilicueta to Old Trafford for £21.5m.

The usual big spenders Manchester City remained very quiet during the window, having only spent around £14m with Roberto Pereyra moving on deadline day from £6.5m. Although City did sell a few players in deals worth around £41m with players like Wesley Sneijder, Gael Clichy and Joleon Lescott all leaving.
A great signing and another great update! Shame Verratti only went for £19.5 million, I've always liked him, but still not too bad for you. :P

Got to admit, i missed out with not bidding for Verratti, definitely would have been in for him especially for 19.5m as well!
Nice, lots of movement in the window will make for a more interesting league.

Champions League Group Stage Draw

The draw for the Group stages of the Champions League takes place today, with holders Arsenal hoping the draw is kind to them to make their task of defending their title a bit easier. Manchester United and Manchester City will also be hoping for a kind draw that will help them on their way after disappointing campaigns last year, while the competition won’t be seeing the return of Liverpool after they were defeated in the qualifying play-off by Lyon.

The draw for the Champions League Group Stages has taken place and Manchester City will face a tough group after being drawn against Ajax, Galatasaray and Borussia Monchengladbach. Holders Arsenal have been given an easier group with Sevilla, Bayer Leverkusen and Palermo and Manchester United will face Zenit, Sporting Lisbon and Getafe.

Tough group but I think you'll get at least second by the end.
Not the easiest group but I reckon you will get through easily :)

Saturday 12th September 2015 – Everton v Manchester City (Premier League)

MCFC Starting XI – Hart, Richards, Kompany, Nastasic, Ramon; Nasri, Milner, Toure, Nem; Aguero; Suarez SUBS – Forster, Zabaleta, Varane, De Rossi, Bale, Blanco, Cavani

Everton Starting XI – Howard, Coleman, Jagielka, Heitinga, Taylor; Mirallas, Parker, Smallwood, Colback; Naismith; Jelavic SUBS – Stockdale, Brayford, Zaha, Macheda, Stearman, Lalkovic, Barkley

A very dull game at Goodison in terms of goal mouth action, with only one goal coming from ex-Liverpool striker Luis Suarez but despite the lack of the goals and chances the referee made sure his name would get a mention in all of the post-game reports as he sent off two Everton players. Firstly Scott Parker was sent off in the 58th minute and then Heitinga found himself joining his team mate with 10 minutes to go.

Final Score – Everton 0 Manchester City 1 (Suarez 8)

MOTM – Samir Nasri

Attendance – 37,743

Saturday 19th September 2015 – Sunderland v Manchester City (Premier League)

Manchester City suffered a big blow before the game when Sergio Aguero was ruled out for the next 4 weeks with a hernia.

MCFC Starting XI – Hart, Richards, Varane, Nastasic, Barlocco; Nasri, De Rossi, Gaimaro, Nem; Blanco; Suarez SUBS – Forster, Zabaleta, Kompany, Milner, Toure, Pereyra, Cavani

Sunderland Starting XI – Mignolet, Clyne, Batth, Cahill, Ward; Diarra, Diakite; Dyer, Sneijder, Johnson; Fletcher SUBS – Westwood, Huddlestone, Cuellar, Larson, Sessegnon, Lowton, Kilgallon

City made it 5 wins from 5 today but were again made to work hard for their win. A familiar face in Wesley Sneijder gave Sunderland the lead but goals from Nem and Zabaleta were enough for the win. City dominated possession but City never looked like extending their lead from open play, although they threatened from corners and free kicks.

Final Score – Sunderland 1 (Sneijder 13) Manchester City 2 (Nem 34, Zabaleta 55)

MOTM – Alou Diarra

Attendance – 48,091
