Transfer Update

Denis Suarez has joined Spanish side Guadalajara on loan until the end of the season. This will help with his development as he will be getting first-team football, and also be back in his native country. Guadalajara are lying 15th in Liga Adelante, and this somehow impressed him and persuaded him to join.

Betinho has also joined Portimonense on loan until the end of the season.

Taça da Portugal Semi-Final Draw

We will play our fierce rivals Benfica in the two-legged semi-final of the Portuguese Cup. We stand a good chance of going through, and we should then win the cup against Rio Ave or Academica in the final, which are the other two teams.

The first leg will be played on the 29th January at our stadium, then the second leg will be played away on the 16th April.

Monthly Review

Yet another brilliant month, winning all our games again, beating Benfica and Porto in the process. We went further clear in the race for the title, and gained an advantage in the Portuguese Cup semi-final. We also wrapped up some good transfers, although we are currently £10k over our budget. We will look to solve this by selling Jeffren, who is on £26k p/w, yet barely plays.

League Table

We currently lie ten points clear at the top, although Porto still have a game in hand on us.
My word, great win against Benefica! You really do hold Portugal's bragging rights now! :)

It's one of my best FM experiences ever tbh
If anyone is interested, I have compiled all my updates into the Word document I use to write the story, and now I can announce that it is 9,698 words long, and 33 pages long. And we're halfway through Season 1. If that makes it to the end of Season 3, there'll be 58,188 words, and 198 pages.

Matthaus: "Full Backs Have Been Key"

Lothar Matthaus has heaped praise on his full-backs Matias Rodriguez and Emiliano Insua, claiming they are a big factor in why his team lead the table by ten points going into February.

Insua joined Sporting in 2011, whilst Rodriguez was signed was signed by Matthaus in the summer from Universidad de Chile. Between them they have made 60 performances this season, scoring 5 times, and both have been brilliant so far. Sporting have tried several tactics this season, and Rodriguez and Insua have been one of the constants in the side, along with Patricio and Adryan.

Matthaus had this to say "you can't deny how much they bring to the side. Both can attack and defend well, and since we've been using the 4-6-0 tactic they've been awesome. Some people are saying they won't stay long, they might think they're too big for the club, but I can see both staying for ages."

Matthaus has been popular and successful in Portugal since his arrival, and is on course for a domestic treble. Matthaus is heading towards becoming a club legend, although is attracting attention from clubs across Europe. His contract ends of the season, and he has yet to be offered a new one.

Malaga To Sign Jeffren

Spanish club Malaga have announced they are to sign Jeffren from Sporting at the end of the season for £1.5m. Several Spanish clubs expressed an interest in signing the winger towards the end of the January transfer window, but none managed to finance an offer until Malaga found the spare cash to finalise the signing.

The former Barcelona winger joined Sporting in the summer of 2011, but struggled to really make an impression, and found himself transfer listed when new manager Lothar Matthaus joined the Lisbon club in July. Since then he has been removed from the transfer list, and moved up to the first team squad, but has been restricted to few appearances, mainly in the cups. His opportunities won't have been helped by young Bruma playing well when required.

Another factor in Jeffren leaving was his £26k p/w wage. Sporting have been struggling to control their wages this season, and this will leave them with around £15k to spare ahead of the summer.
good move selling Jeffren, if brumas playing well and he isnt gettin a game and on £26k a week easy decision :) great story, keeps gettin better :D great writing throughtout :D

I wouldn't say Bruma is playing "well". He's doing the job that's asked of him, although his shooting needs to improve definitely. Still, he's only 18, should be fine.
Perfect run. very nice
Still no loses, keep it up !

Matthaus: "We Will Do Everything To Sign Mastour"

Speaking in a press conference Lothar Matthaus has declared an interest in signing AC Milan youngster Hachim Mastour in the summer.

The 14-year-old attacking midfielder has only been on the Milan club's books since the start of the season, but has been watched by scouts from big clubs across Europe. Sporting scout Aurelio Pereira was spotted at his last academy match, and now Sporting have become the first club to declare concrete interest in the young Italian, who is also eligible for Morroco.

It is believed that Mastour would be interested in signing for the Lisbon club, excited bout playing in a midfield that could consist of Bruma, Labyad, Suarez, Demirci, Adryan, and himself. This would be one of the most fearful midfields in the game when it reaches full potential.

Matthaus had this to say when he spoke about the player "he's only 14, but everyone can already see the talent he possesses, and the potential he could unleash. Milan have a valuable asset, but we will try to do everything we can to prise him from then. He could be the backbone of the midfield, and potentially one of the best players in the game."

It is believed the midfielder, despite being 14, would cost around £5m.
very nicely writen again Blue :) never seen Mastour signed before so that would be good 2 see :D
