Lothar Matthaus has restored hope to AC Milan fans by claiming that Milan can make the Champions League this season. They failed to qualify last season, and fans are eager to see their team back at the top level of European football.

Speaking in a press conference, Matthaus had this to say: “I have my hopes set high now. I came in and we were sixth. Now I’ve been here about a month and a half, and we’ve got up to fourth, and we just had a great March, with wins against Sevilla, Lazio, and Udinese. I don’t think we could have done much better really. If we keep playing this way for the rest of the season we will get Champions League football for next season, and I think we’ll win the Europa League too, which I won last year too. We’ve got some tough games in April, but as long as we don’t lose any, I think we’ll be fine.”

Matthaus’ team lie fourth in Serie A, and are also in the quarter finals of the Europa League. Milan are in the midst of a ‘run of death’, with their next five games including Spurs twice, Juventus, Napoli, and city rivals Inter Milan.
