End Of Season Update
Not an awful season, but I expected more. We went trophyless in four competitions is which is really frustrating as we were so close to winning the league and cup.
Tactic
This was my overall 4-2-3-1 tactic that I used in almost all of my games.
Eredivisie
The Eredivisie was really exciting this year. PSV always seemed to have the lead, but there were moments when It looked like I would be the Champion of Holland. One of those moments was in mid December when I beat PSV to move just 2 points behind PSV. Inconsisity killed us, as in the next 2 road games after beating PSV, we dropped all of our points. Discipline was also a problem, we had more red cards than any other team in the Eredivisie. During good uns of form, we would ofter drop games we had the upper hand on when one of our players got sent off, like against RKC where we blew a 2-0 lead when Christian Poulson got sent off. In the last month of the season, PSV played us. If we won, we would have had the league all but locked up. If we lost, we would lose the league. In the 60th or so minute, the game was tied 2-2. If the game finished as It was, we would go on to eventually win the league on goal difference. Unfortunately, Enoh got sent off and our title hopes were over.
European Champions League
I was really proud of our performance in the champions league. We qualified out of a tough group that consisted of Juve, Arsenal, and Gladbach. The highlight of the group was beating Arsenal at home and drawing Juve at home. We showed in the group that we can beat some of the best teams in the world and that we deserved to be in the next round. Unfortunately, we drew United. We pulled off a brilliant 2-1 win at home, where Anderson scored against his former team. We couldn't keep our lead in England though, we ended up losing 5-1 in a tough game. The team still played very well considering we were playing UNITED! The eventual champions of Europe were Juventus.
Dutch Cup
We had a pretty easy route to the finals of the Dutch Up, beating the likes of NEC, RKC, and Roda JC by margins of at least 2 goals. We played against Feyenoord in the final, and we had a 2-1 league going into stoppage time in the 2nd half where they got an lucky goal. They would eventually end up winning the game in PK's to destroy our hopes of getting hands on any silverware this year.
Dutch Super Cup
The Dutch Super Cup was against PSV. We would score first with Ryan Babel but PSV would equalize and win in PK's in the first competitive game of the season for both sides.
Transfers
This year, Brice DjeDje and Anderson joined Ajax for fees of 12.5 million and 4.7 million pounds respectively. Evaluations below
Brice DjeDje: Grade: B-
DjeDje was a pretty quality left back this year, who contributed on offense, scoring 1 goal and assisting 5 others. DjdDje's average rating was 7.26, which wasn't as high as I'd hoped it would be considering the amount that I payed for him. Thankfully, he limited his mistakes. He had no mistakes that led to goals this season, a great quality for a Right Back. I'd just like some better performances for a player so expensive.
Anderson: Grade: C
Anderson was an Ok midfielder, but he didn't produce as great performances as I hoped he would. Anderson scored 2 goals and had 4 assists, but didn't make as much of an impact on the game as I was hoping for. He came up big in Europe, where he scored a clutch goal against his former side Manchester Untied. On the whole though, his average rating was just 7.28, and I expected much more from a player from the BPL. Next year, his apps will be limited, as I have brought in a player too be named that plays his posistion.
