January/Febuary

We have had an up and down 2 months with good cup results but we are struggling in the league.

We started January with some bad results. In our first 3 games we dropped 8 points which was not good enough. 3 wins out of 4 followed and we were through to the F.A Trophy semi-final. Another disappointing couple of weeks followed and we lost the first semi-final away to forest green. For the return leg we had to win by 2 clear goals. Richard Taylor put us 1-0 up in the second half and then Benjani scored the winner to book our place at Wembley for the final in May.

League Table

We now languish out of the play offs and we are getting beat by teams around us but in truth we are drawing too many games which will cost us in the end.

A little surprise

I checked my inbox to see the great man himself had a new job…..

Sorry it is short guys I will be able to put more detail into the next post.

Onwards and Upwards.

Bristol Rovers approach Wells

Bristol Rovers have approached Eastleigh manager Matt Wells in light if becoming Bristol’s new manager. Matt has recently rejected Newport County’s offer and he remains fiercely loyal to Eastleigh and the fans of the club. What will Matt chose will he stay and help the rise of Eastleigh FC or will he join recently relegated Bristol Rovers.

Southend approach Wells

With Eastleigh manager Matt Wells reportedly in talks with Bristol Rovers Southend have offered their position of manager to the young Eastleigh gaffer.

March, Falling away

This month we have been quite poor and we have fell away from the play-off places.

We started the month off well with our last game at St.Marys Stadium and we beat AFC Telford comfortably. We then destroyed our season with 3 successive defeats an this ended our hopes of getting into the play-offs. We then went home to our Silverlake Stadium and we thrashed Lincon and Newport.

League Table

We have fell well short of the play-offs now and It is highly unlikely we will be in them at the end of the season I am now going to strip the squad bare and make my own team up now.

Player of the month

Oskar Martin- Has been consistent this month and has just turned 30 but is still scoring goals for fun.

April, Not bad

This month we have finished the season in style and have made a late charge up the table.

We were excellent this month with every player putting in a good shift. We knew it would go down to the final day and when we beat Gateshead all we could do was wait and see….

Final League Table

We finished just 2 points out of the play-offs. This is still a good position for the team and I am proud of their efforts throughout the season.

Next Update: F.A Trophy Final
Unlucky to miss out on the play-offs but you can win the league next year!

Thanks mate im going to build a complete new squad in the summer. We just drew too many games.

F.A Trophy Final

We were here finally. It was the day of the F.A Trophy and the biggest day in the clubs history. We could win our first cup trophy and it would be my second at Eastleigh. I walked out into the pitch at midday. It was like a carpet. I headed back into the changing rooms to tell the squad the team sheet:

“Right lads this is the biggest day in Eastleigh’s history. We are here at Wembley and we were clear favorites. Chester are in the division below us. We have the better team by miles. We missed out on the play offs by 2 points. I want you to be dominant today and keep on going at them. If they are down beat them down harder and show them we will not be pushed over. Right lads the team is ; Craig Gordon, Alan Dunne, Joe Mustoe, Garry Kennith, Dean Beckwith, Tom Shaw, Connor Henderson, Glen Southam, Ben McKenna, Stephen McLaughlin, Oskar Martin. Good luck boys lets go and destroy them."

I walked the team out of the tunnel and I was so nervous. I looked behind me and MY team was there. This was the start of something big, I could create a team capable of winning anything and it should be mine. I wanted to create a legacy like Shankley at Liverpool. I walked out to see Peter Jones giving me a thumbs up. The national anthem played and I looked towards our 11000 fans and they all looked so happy. They boy whose picture is in my office was there and he waved at me.

The game started well and we were the dominant team. We had a corner and it bounced around before Garry Kennith but it in the net and I went wild. We were trying to keep scoring but Chester hit us on the break and they scored. I knew I had to get their spirits up.

The half time whistle blow and I sat them down in the changing room:

“Right lads today we have a chance of bringing the first major cup to Eastleigh FC and I want you to go out there and destroy them I want you to smash them and don’t stop just keep on going”.

We headed out again and started well again. Connor Henderson then broke free in the penalty area and scored a magnificent goal. We were then in the driving seat fully. Oskar Martin then scored a thunderous shot that went in at the near post and it was now 3-1. We stopped to give ourselves a rest but on the 87th minute Oskar Martin scored a header in the 6 yard box to send the F.A Trophy to Eastleigh. I was delighted and I ran about the pitch like a headless chicken when the final whistle went. I had brought joy to the people of Eastleigh and I wanted more I was now going to bring every trophy possible to make this club big and we would make Wembley our second home.

We paraded in front of our fans and the small boy ran up to me and we took another photo. This time with the Trophy.

I then headed back to the changing rooms and I was going to take the lads and fans out for a pint when we got back to Eastleigh.

I had done it.

13/14 Season Review

I am extremely proud of the team effort this season. We only just missed out on the play-offs by 2 points. This was Eastleigh’s highest ever season finish. The club are now expanding the stadium again so I won’t play in it till the end of the season again. The youth facilities are also being improved so I can produce my own players and build for the future. With the investment of Peter Jones I can rebuild the squad and have my own players and get rid of players who are not needed or are just not good enough. We won the clubs first major trophy at Wembley. Winning the F.A Trophy is a great achievement and I am proud I could bring the trophy home to Eastleigh. Oskar Martin was our top goal scorer with Reece Styche scoring the most goals in the league throughout the season. These 2 players will be key for me next season and they have the quality to be able to score 40+ goals combined. I need to get promotion next season to keep the club moving forward. I would like to retain the F.A Trophy but if I don’t it’s not the worst disaster. I want to reach round 2 of the F.A Cup to get some money and increase the clubs reputation. Next seasons team will be completely my own and will be hopefully for a few years. Dean Beckwith won fans player of the year and was exceptional throughout the campaign.

Thankyou for reading Season 2 of Eastleigh FC- The Rise
To next season :D

Pre-Season

We have had a very poor preseason with only 1 win but we got our fitness levels up and made some money.

We played 2 premier league teams and we scored against both which I was proud of. The 7-1 was amazing and we deserved it so much.

Wells signs new deal with Eastleigh

Loyal Eastleigh manager Matt Wells has signed a new 3 year deal with the club. The young manager has recently rejected offers from Newport, Bristol Rovers and Southend to stay as manager of Eastleigh FC.

“It is great to be able to stay at the club and I have already won 2 trophies and I am looking forward to a bright future with the club and we are moving forward in the right direction.”

Transfers

We have been busy in the summer and brought in players who can win the league and gain us promotion.

I had Stephen McLaughlin on loan for 2 seasons so I decided to buy him permanently as his performance have been excellent. I then signed Matt Doherty who is a rb. We needed to strengthen this position and there was not much quality in the full back areas. Peter Vincenti was one of the best players last season for Aldershot and he was available for free and is a quality player for this division. Mendez-Lang was then signed on loan as I needed good and quick wingers and he could fit in well with my style of play. Poku was a free and is a good BWM and I needed depth in the CM positions. This was followed by Martin who is an Argentinian CB who is probably the best defender in the league and the league above possible. John Toral and Jake Sinclair were signed on loan from Arsenal and Southampton respectively and can develop well and they both fit my style of play well. Cellena will go straight on loan as he is a good 17 year old striker with good potential. Lewis Grabban was a steal as he can play on the wing and up front and the price was too cheap to ignore. Meade was then signed as I needed a new lb and he can be a good player in the future and he will be rotated with Green in the lb position.

August/September

We have started the season in fine form and we have dominated every team we have played.

These results have been brilliant and I really don’t know how we have been so good. We started with a draw but then we just tore teams apart and have only drawn once since. The teams performances have just been too good for this league and I think we can win the league this season. We are struggling with fitness levels and injuries but it has not shown due to the quality in depth we have at the club.

League Table

We sit well clear by a lot of points at the top of the league and we look in good shape to gain promotion this season.
You have a great story so far m8. It's very well done. I'm even more impressed by your work because two days ago I won 6-0 with Dartford against your club :P

Keep it up ;)
