August - An Unbelievable Month!

September 7, 2015
I can’t simply believe what we did! We had a terrible month, with the Spanish Super Cup against Barcelona and three really hard league matches… Not only we won the Super Cup, but we obtained 7 points in the three league matches… An Unbelievable result!

LIGA BBVA

It should have been a terrible first month in the league. We started home against Barcelona… We won 1-0 thanks to a Captain’s goal! Then, after the first Super Cup Leg, we had to go to Sevilla… We came out with an unlucky 1-1 draw, being over till 10 minutes before the final whistle…

Mestalla, Valencia - August 30, 2015 - Day 3

Then we moved to Valencia, 4 days after having won the Super Cup… Adrenaline was the key factor in the match, we came out with an impressive 3-1 away victory!

These results let us sit on the top of the league table, together with Real Madrid and Levante. That’s nothing but the beginning of the season… But an encouraging beginning…

UEFA CHAMPIONS LEAGUE

The first Champions League draw of our history has not been kind to us! We were drawn in Group D with Bayern Munich and Arsenal… There could have been few worse assignments… Metalist is the fourth team in the group, I am confident we can challenge with them for the third place that means Europa League.

SPANISH SUPER CUP

I already spent a few words on the Super Cup matches, the few words that I had… I have no more even now… What I forgot to mention is that we obtained two records in those clashes: in the first leg, we obtained the largest gate receipts ever, in the second one Cheick Diomandé has become the youngest player to debut with our side’s shirt in the history of the club.

PLAYERS WORTH OF MENTION

ROBERT PAPP

I want to mention Robert as the Man of the Month. The reason is rather simple: he is the one that let us won our first trophy! He played the two Super Cup matches (and only them till now) and, despite being a center back, he scored a goal per match! Simply wonderful for him!

NEXT MONTH

We just came out from a difficult month and another one is going to start! But I think that all the difficulties will be softened by the idea of the sound of the Champions League theme at Nuevo Carlos Tartiere! A sweet sound, despite the very tough match that we have to face against Bayern…
Stefano Gagliardo
What good start and Milan and Oviedo .
Congratulations, good luck in the league and in Europe.
Following the month very heavy, good luck .
Fantastic for both. Tough month for Oviedo next month so I wish you the best of luck for that. Falcao has been immense and although he's still 29, I'm calling the shots for him to be the new Di Natale :D
What a month for Oviedo! Can't wait to see how they get on in the champions league, Europa League would be great but I think you might be able to challenge for top 2 with a bit of luck :)
I promise never to complain about my schedual again.

Good luck in the CL
@Bebero: yeah, they have been great months for both the teams! I think I will really need a bit of luck next month...

@Paddy: Who knows?!? But he has to pay attention to the youths, maybe they are going to steal his place in some seasons... :)

@Dean: Oviedo's month was simply unbelievable! I was actually hoping for 3-4 points in the three matches, and we ended up with 7! :O

@Northwood: schedule was not great, but there is a certainty... It has to become better! ;)

Thanks to all of you for following and commenting! :D

September - On the Top…

September 30, 2015
Here I am for my standard summing up of what happened last month. We had a very good month and we are on the top of the table both in the Serie A and in the Champions League.

SERIE A

We played 4 matches this month, obtaining 10 points. The unique draw we held was the one against Udinese, which I was clearly not satisfied about as we dominated the match but conceded three goals to them. Falcao has been incredible in the match against Genoa, when he scored all the four goals of the match.

San Siro, Milano – September 23, 2015 – Day 5

The match against Lazio was a really tough one, more than what I expected, but was solved by the goals of two youngsters, who scored the first goals of their professional careers: Lyes Chiha and Natale Visciglia.

As I already said, we sit on the top of the table after 6 matches, with 2 points more than Juventus and Inter, our most hatred opponents.

UEFA CHAMPIONS LEAGUE

Two victories in two matches, a really good start!

San Siro, Milano – September 29, 2015 – Group E, Day 2

After the stunning 6-0 victory against Nancy, we had a difficult match against Dortmund. We came out with a 2-1 victory with a very late goal, at minute 93, by Chiha, when there seemed to be no hope to obtain the three points.

The victory against Dortmund gave us the lead of the group, with 3 point more than the Germans.

PLAYERS WORTH OF MENTION

FALCAO

Radamel was another time amazing this month! He scored 8 goals in 5 matches he played, fully deserving the Man of the Month award.

I want to give a mention also to Lyes and Valiant: the two young guys are starting to show that my trust in them was completely right.

NEXT MONTH

Next month will be not very busy thanks to the international duties. Only 4 matches, with the one against Cagliari seeming to be the toughest one looking at the table.

September - Oh My God! We are on the Top!

October 1, 2015
It’s something incredible to look at the Liga table and see “Oviedo” written near the number 1 indicating the first position… I just can’t believe that! I am perfectly aware that this is not going to last form much time… But I can’t avoid to be excited by that!

LIGA BBVA

We were simply amazing, winning all the three matches we played in the league, scoring 8 goals and conceding 3, 2 of which in a crazy match against Celta that we were leading 3-0 at the half time and we risked to end with a draw.

Santiago Bernabeu, Madrid – September 12, 2015 – Day 4

The match started fantastically! I couldn’t believe that September 12th that I was going out from Santiago Bernabeu as the winner of the match! We won at Real Madrid’s temple… I have no words to describe that…

Simply unbelievable! I can’t believe that this table is the actual one… We have 1 point more than Barcelona, even 6 more than Real!

UEFA CHAMPIONS LEAGUE

The counterpart of the month has been the Champions League. But I can’t tell nothing to my guys, we started against two of the most important European teams and my squad played at its best.

We are third due to the goal difference, with the upcoming match against Metalist being crucial for our hopes of qualification for the Europa League.

PLAYERS WORTH OF MENTION

ORIOL ROMEU

Oriol deserves being elected Man of the Month. He not only played very solid defensive games, but also scored 2 goals, the first of which gifted us the victory against Real.

I’d like to mention also Issa who, after a difficult start, is coming back the amazing striker he has always been with 2 goals and 3 assists this month.

MISCELLANEOUS

Issa Yameogo’s goal against Real Madrid has been the fastest one in our history: he took only 16 seconds to gave us the lead at Santiago Bernabeu.

Moreover, in the first Champions League match of the club’s history, we set up the highest gate receipts ever, with almost 1M€ entering our cash. These money will be very helpful for our economical growth…

NEXT MONTH

The most important match of next month is going to be for sure the one against Metalist in the Champions League. I am pretty confident on that, but they are more internationally experienced and I hope this is not going to make the difference between us.

To the readers!

Well guys, I'm sorry to do this, but unfortunately I have not the time to update the story anymore! It has been a good adventure and my save will go on for sure as I love my Milan and Oviedo teams, but there will be no more updates on it.

Thanks to all those that followed my story! Your comments were really appreciated! :D
Sorry to see this story come to an end. It was on my must-read list.

Thanks for a great story gambit84

Thanks guys for the really kind words! Especially to Krupesh and Northwood (with no offense for yuttra52) for having been two of my best followers, the best with Paddy.

I am really busy with my job now, and I think I will be for very long time, and I have some business also on my evenings, this is the reason why I cannot hold on with this story, at least in the way I have done till now.

You kind words convinced me to give a try for giving 1/2 updates per season, to let you know what is going on in my save. I think one could be available in few time.

Thanks again guys! Thank you very much! :D

Half Season Report - December 28, 2015

SERIE A

The standings show how well we are doing so far. We obtained 14 victories, 2 (away) draws and no defeats in the first 16 matches of the league. This allowed us being on the top of the table, with an 8 points advantage on Juventus, that we are going to face in the first match of the next year.

UEFA CHAMPIONS LEAGUE

We obtained the qualification to the first knockout round by winning Group E, with 6 victories over 6 matches. The draw has not been kind to us, with a very tough match against Chelsea waiting for us.

COPPA ITALIA

A very kind draw that assigned us a home match against Nocerina, not a big team at all.

PLAYERS WORTH OF MENTION

1. STEPHAN EL SHAARAWY
An unbelievable first half of the season for Stephan, who obtained an average rating of 7.91 in 14 matches. He missed some matches due to an injury, but he managed to score 5 times and to give 11 assists to his mates.

2. RADAMEL FALCAO
Captain Falcao has been a wonderful scorer as always, with 22 goals in 19 matches, 6 assists and an average rating of 7.71.

3. TONNY HENDRIKS
Tonny has been great given his young age, obtaining a 7.71 average rating in 15 matches in his first season as a regular.

MISCELLANEOUS
The most important news of this part of the season is for sure the property takeover, with the young 35yo local businessman Vincenzo Antonello being the new Chairman. The man also changed all the board staff that has become really young, with the oldest director being 49yo. My place still remain very secure, and with my results I am not surprised.

Andrea Gagliardo
Good update pal :)

Half Season Report - December 30, 2015

LIGA BBVA

It’s amazing to see us on the top of the league! We have 41 points, the same amount as Barcelona, but 1 match still to play (a catch up against Villarreal)… We were brilliant for the whole half-season, defeating both the greatest Spanish team, Barcelona and Real Madrid, then we completely deserved our position! The season is long, there are still 22 matches to play, and I think that a European placement is still our most feasible aim…

UEFA CHAMPIONS LEAGUE

The draw had not been kind to us and we couldn’t face two great European forces like Bayern and Arsenal, losing all the four matches against them. But we could obtain 4 points against Metalist, and this gave us the possibility of qualifying for the first Europa League knockout round.

Another time the draw has not been kind to us, assigning us a very difficult match against Turkish side Galatasaray. Less difficult team were in the box, that’s for sure, but we are ready to face them: the team has grown up a lot in these months and has achieved some important European experience in the Champions League matches!

COPA DEL REY

We are still in the competition after having defeated Valladolid and Sevilla, and we are going to face the other Sevillan team, Betis, in the quarterfinals: this time we were not that unlucky with the draw.

PLAYERS WORTH OF MENTION

1. ISSA YAMEOGO
After a low-average start, Issa has come back to be the great player he has been in the first three seasons, arriving to score 15 goals and to deliver 7 assists to his mates, that give him a 7.88 average rating in 20 matches played. And I would like to remark that he is only 18yo…

2. DZIKAMAI ANDRE SADOMBA
An age of 20 is very low for a center back, but Dzikamai is showing veteran skills and playing amazing matches that give him a 7.59 average rating in 15 matches (the one in Copa del Rey doesn’t count to me). Together with Oriol Romeu he has been the rock of my defense.

3. ADRIAN
Perfect Issa’s mate, this 22yo Spanish striker is putting a long series of stunning performances in a row, scoring 15 times and delivering 4 assists in 21 matches, that allow him achieving a 7.54 average rating. A 30 goals attack is not bad…

MISCELLANEOUS

Our financial position is becoming better and better every day, as well as the confidence of the board in my job here at Real Oviedo. These two things let the board think about raising my transfer budget up to 23.5M. That’s a budget for a high-level team, even if I don’t think I am going to spend very much in the incoming transfer window, I think my team is already fit for my requirements.

Last month I have been contacted by Sevilla: the team had just sacked José Luis Mendilibar after some unsatisfactory results and were looking for a new manager to sit on their bench. I kindly turned down their offer, I have no intention of leaving my current side that I’m loving more and more every day. Some days after, they hired their second choice, Frank de Boer as new manager…
