116 points in a season is impossible. 38x3=114.

Anyway, Good job Neal, but we are looking for 114.
ebEliminator: That's just how we roll ;)

The Madridista: What can I say, Milan and Juve were poor this year, and they are the only teams that are capable of beating me :P

Pauker: That's not possible :))

Couragesand: Thanks :)

edu1878: Thank you for pointing our Pauker's fallacy there :))

Coppa Italia Final Preview: Inter vs. AC Milan

The last time Internazionale faced eternal rivals AC Milan in the final of the Coppa Italia was in 1977, and that occasion it was the Rossoneri that triumphed by a score of 2-0. 40 years later, the two Milanese sides face off once again to see who will life the famous trophy, and everything has changed.

In the 1970's, Juventus was the dominant team in Italy with AC Milan a close second; the Nerazzurri certainly could not be included among those two elite sides of the day. Now, however, to say any Italian team could come close to the levels of football Inter have achieved would be blasphemy; Bergomi's Internazionale side are perhaps the best Italy has ever seen.

Everybody knows that anything can happen in a derby match, and that goes twofold for the infamous Derby della Madonnina. In their 10 meetings since Giuseppe Bergomi took charge of the Nerazzurri, Inter have won 7 and Milan just 1, and they split the spoils 2 times. None of those games, however, have been quite as vital as this one; none have had a trophy on the line.

Inter will be missing two of their best players this time around. Philippe Coutinho, undoubtedly his team's start performer this season with 20 goals and 21 assists, will be missing due to suspension after picking up a red card in the semifinals. Striker Mattia Destro, who was suffered an injury-ravaged season, will also not be fit in time.

AC Milan will have nearly a full squad to pick from and will only be missing defender Salvatore Bocchetti and may just have the squad depth to pull off an upset. Ernesto Valverde is at the helm of the Rossoneri once again after his replacement in Marco van Basten was sacked. Valverde is the only Milan manager to have beaten Bergomi's Inter in the last five years, and he will be looking to replicate the feat come final day.

It all comes down to one match. One last game, to see who will lift the prestigious Coppa Italia. Can Inter continue to assert their dominance on Italian calcio or can AC Milan salvage something from its loss-torn season? There's only one way to find out.
Good luck vs. AC Milan mate! unlucky about Coutinho and Destro likewise :/
Good luck mate, will be good :)
Why should anybody care about this match when we already know who's going to win? :P Forza Inter! :D
NVDTahir: Hopefully we can solider on without them!

joethequin: Thanks bud, should be a cracking match :)

The Madridista: Yeah let's be honest Milan are crap :))

Inter Lift Coppa Italia After Derby Triumph

The first and only time Inter faced Milan in the Coppa Italia final was 1977, and on that day the Rossoneri ran out 2-0 victors. This time, though, everything has changed; players, managers, form. Everything but one thing: the passion of the rivalry.

Going into the 2017 final, 40 years after the last, most people expected Inter to run out champions and lift the trophy for the fifth consecutive time. Nobody can doubt that anything can happen on derby day, and that goes twofold for a cup final. The entirety of the Stadio Olimpico in Rome was ready to host this epic match to finish the Italian domestic season.

Just two minutes into the match, it already looked like it was decided.

The Nerazzurri had the kick off and didn't give away possession, quickly and sharply moving the ball up the field and getting into their usual passing rhythm in and around the box. It was a rather innocuous ball wide to Sterling from Andrea Poli, but the Englishman suddenly exploded into life. Sterling dashed past Didac and hammered the ball into the near post, giving Inter a 1-0 lead without Milan touching the ball even once.

Twenty minutes in, it seemed as though Milan had equalized. Alejandro Gomez's long distance free kick was excellently nodded home by Didac, only for the goal to be chalked off for offside. Just two minutes later, however, Didac was on the opposite end of the spectrum when he passed the ball out of defense straight to Adam Maher. The Dutchman made no mistake with his finish, and Inter were up 2-0.

Approacing halftime, the Nerazzurri were thoroughly in control. However, they chose not to leave anything to chance and in fact tripled their advantage. Lucas Digne broke down the left before whipping in a ball for his men in the box. Ademilson rose and struck but saw his header bounce off of the bar. Lorenzo Insigne, however, was quickest off the mark, and poked home the rebound into the empty net to make it 3-0.

In the second half, Milan barely mustered an attack. In fact, had it not been for Alexandre Pato's heroic clearance off the line, Emerson Luiz's header would have made it 4-0. Giuseppe Bergomi's men easily held on to their three goal lead and the match ended with confetti and celebration as Inter won their fifth straght Coppa Italia by beating the Rossoneri 3-0.

"There was never any doubt, was there? I'm very pleased Ernesto [Valverde] is back in charge of AC Milan; more easy wins for us," claimed a smug Bergomi after the match. "It's almost a foregone conclusion now; we are the best team in Italy."
... 3-0?! Thrashed 'em mate, well written to top it off :P Keep it up! :D
