Muamba signs Wanyama and Darida
Wigan Athletic have confirmed the signings of Victor Wanyama and Vladimir Darida, from Celtic and Viktor Plzen respectively. Both players will be available to play for Wigan against Fulham, Wigan's F.A. Cup match against the London side. Both players were signed in an attempt of Wigan to taste European football next season. The relegation-tipped side has confounded all type of media predictions since the start of the season. This has prompted to players throughout the world to be interested in joining the Latics. This has been the case for Czech Republic international Vladimir Darida to reject Bayer Leverkusen to join the English side.The Kenyan international signed a record fee of 8.25 million pounds to sign for Wigan. The former Celtic player has impressed the whole world throughout his short 2 year career with Celtic. But, this sesason, the defensive minded player decided to have a change of scenery. The player handed in a written transfer request in November and had been attracting interest from sides such as Liverpool, PSG and Juventus. Nevertheless, neither of those clubs stepped up their game to sign the fantastic Wanyama. The player has talked up of his recent transfer to the Premier League by saying," Wigan are doing great this season and it has been because of Muamba. Before, they were fighting to survive. This shows progress and I want to be part of this project." The player also talked up about the opportunity of playing of the Premier League by saying," The Premier League is the world's best league at the moment. Anyone can challenge anyone, and that's what Wigan has done."
Meanwhile, Vladimir Darida has explained the decision to snub Bayern Leverkusen to join Wigan. He said," To be given the opportunity to play for Leverkusen is great, but I wanted to play under Muamba and most importantly some European football." He added," In my homeland (Czech Republic), it's very hard to even get to the group stages and if Wigan make it, I am confident they can pass the group stages easily." The man behind it all, Fabrice Muamba, has also talked about the recent transfers. He said," When Jordi Gomez left, we needed someone like Darida and when I saw him available at such a low price, we had to take him. He's a potential superstar." When he was questioned about the transfer of Wigan's record transfer fee he said," Wanyama is an excellent player. Himself and Gonalons will lead Wigan to glory. These players are just excellent and I want to tell them that if we are selling players, I am ready to replace them." He finalized the conference by saying," With these additions, I am 99% sure that European football is in our reach. We are at a Champions League spot at the moment, so it's very likely we might be playing there next season."
