A good start to Gary Neville's career as Preston Manager. Just Hours after taking over he led his team to a 1-0 win against Shrewsbury. Some fantastic football was played under the new 4-2-3-1 system which Neville confirmed will be the tactic of choice. A 4-3 defeat to Chesterfield followed under bizarre circumstances as Preston had no available Goalkeepers for the game! A good result against high flying Bristol capped off a good month for both Neville and the club as they try close down the gap on the playoffs.
No Goalkeepers! Even reserves/U18s????? Never seen that one before :O

Transfer Activity

This month saw Gary Neville dip his fingers into the transfer market for the first time as Preston boss bringing in three youngsters.

The first confirmed signing was James Hope, The 18y/o startlet Keeper from Brighton. James has been tipped as the next Joe Hart and it took 350k to bring him over to Deepdale. The young Englishman is thought to be looking forward to working with the former England right back and stated that was hhis main reason in Joining Preston.

Gary Neville had this to say about James Hope. "His potential is their for everyone to see. He may well be an England International in the coming years. We want him to keep developing so we are looking at the possibility of sending him back on loan where he can get some first team football"

James will join when his contract expires

The second of the three signings made by Neville was in the striking department. Will Keane, formerly of Manchester United joined on a free transfer. It is believed Will Keane will be the first choice striker, with David Amoo now being asked to deploy from out wide.

Gary commented saying "Will has had the luxury of training with top class players day in and day out with Manchester United. He is a bright young man who is always looking to run beyond the last defender. He is a defenders nightmare, luckily for us"

The final signing made by Neville was creative attacking midfielder Suso on a free transfer after his contract at Liverpool expired. The Attack minded Spaniard is expected to fit into Neville's 4-2-3-1 system very well.

"Its exactly what we needed, a bit of creativity. I'm hoping that he can supply us a lot of goals, I seen his passing in particular with the Liverpool reserves, He's a very tricky player."
