KIŠ BRACE IN SECOND TO LAST MATCH
HAJDUK 3-2 DORTMUND
Dortmund had barely taken a win at the fascinatingly terrifying Westfalenstadion, as Hajduk had failed to come back from Dortmund's unassailable lead. But this time, it was Hajduk's turn to show the Germans their best.

And they did, just like the Germans did in Dortmund, just barely enough.

Hajduk legend (yes, legend, I'm only favoured personnel), Mirko Oremuš scored the opener, cutting inside from the right to jink past Marcel Schmelzer and Mats Hummels, before chipping the ball past Ron Robert Zieler. The former Manchester United player just couldn't reach the ball, but Dortmund got right back, with Julian Schieber scoring in the 24th minute.

Kiš wasn't having it though. The 22 year old Croatian hero scored two goals within 5 minutes, bringing the proud German club down to three points. And, while Julian Schieber scored again just before the half, in the 41st, Hajduk held on for a goalless 2nd half to get to 9 points from 5 matches.

Their last match, against Porto in Portugal, could very well be irrelevant. But if Sampdoria beat Dortmund, then Hajduk needs at least a draw.

GROUP H:
PORTO - 10
HAJDUK - 9
SAMPDORIA - 7
DORTMUND - 3

FIXTURE 6:
PORTO VS. HAJDUK
DORTMUND VS. SAMPDORIA
Wow Dortmund are doing pretty badly.
Brilliant victory over Dortmund! It seems you are a giant-slayer in the group stages but crash out in the knockout rounds normally. Hopefully you don't get that unlucky this time :)

Because Sampdoria are the Serie A champions, and Porto is Porto...

There results in the CL are:

DORTMUND 4-3 HAJDUK
SAMPDORIA 3-1 DORTMUND
DORTMUND 2-3 PORTO
PORTO 3-1 DORTMUND
HAJDUK 3-2 DORTMUND
DORTMUND vs. SAMPDORIA

It's not that they're doing badly... it's just that everyone else is doing a little bit better

We might be able to steal the top of the group this time around, which would help in the fact that we wouldn't be getting Real Madrid/Manchester United/Chelsea/Barcelona, and so on... in the first round...

DOUBLE HATTRICK AS HAJDUK GIVES STRONG WARNING TO PORTO
HAJDUK 6-2 ZADAR - T. KIŠ ('8, '63, '90), M. LJUBI?I? ('21, '37, '40)
Tomi Kiš opened the scoring, but it took Mario Ljubi?i? only 19 minutes to complete a stunning first half hattrick against Zadar, as Hajduk issues a strong warning towards Porto, only 4 days before their group deciding match: a win for Hajduk sends them to the top of the group.

The match was nothing short of fantastic, as Hajduk's 18 year old defensive midfielder, Danko Ravni? made two great assists, one to Kiš and one to Ljubi?i?, as Hajduk stormed to the massive lead. In fact, by the time Zadar had caught on to what was going on, Hajduk had already had a 4-0 lead, and Ljubi?i? had just finished off his hattrick.

Kiš wasn't having it though. As far as he's concerned, the 22 year old is the main striker at the club, and he made sure that was known, with a fantastically taken freekick just after the hour, before Pero Baši? lofted a ball ahead to Kiš who placed it beyond the keeper in the dying minutes of the match, to grab the Man of the Match award.

With it, Tomi Kiš moves into first place for the contention of "Player of the Year" award, given to the player with the most Man of the Match awards. It is, so far, the only award that Hajduk have failed to win... that and the highly irrelevant "Goal of the Year".

------

"Do you think you'll be able to beat Porto?"

-"Probably not. At this point, all I want is Dortmund to get their act together and win something. That was, at least we get 2nd place. I don't think we'll get anything from that"

"mmm"

-OI!, TIMMY, GET DOWN HERE!

"I'M COMING!!! -look man, I've got to finish the set. Piano's not going to play itself..."

And the popular manager walked down the stairs, to rousing cheers from the crowd and a sensual moment from his amazing girl, before banging out two hours of jazz almost as good as Hajduk's performance against Zadar. At two in the morning, Bendiš finally closed the café, much to the understanding chagrin of the crowd
Nice victory, love it when two players are on form for a hat trick apiece.

I once had David Beckham play for Ajax, and have a hattrick of assists and a hattrick of goals. THAT was a MoM performance

DORTMUND DEFEAT SAMPDORIA
DORTMUND 2-1 SAMPDORIA
PORTO 2-0 HAJDUK
HAJDUK THROUGH

Celebrations began in Split not minutes after Dortmund scored their second goal, as the Germans continued a remarkable comeback in their last game in Europe this season. Because, by God, if they weren't going to make it to Europe, by God, they were going to deny someone else.

Sampdoria took an early lead, Andrea Poli making an excellent goal in the 16th, as Hajduk conceded their first goal. But Dortmund fought back. The Germans have an amazing haul of goals this season, especially with their 4 goal performance against the Croatian champions. Facundo Ferreyra scored both goals, after a dismal season for Dortmund, and brought the Germans, and with them, the Croatians, back.

After the final whistle blew, in Germany... not in Portugal, an ecstatic Bendiš nearly dashed onto the pitch, before he remembered that his team was still playing. The announcer laughed while announcing that match in Germany had finished. The Portuguese fans applauded, but the North stand of Estadio do Dragão erupted into cheers, as Hajduk had managed to get through yet again.

Ten hours later, Bendiš arrived at Resnik to a surprise. While half the city had arrived in Trogir to celebrate the "victory", his best friend was not there. He looked and looked, and looked, but couldn't find him anywhere. The airport wasn't that big, but he simply couldn't find him. Just as he was getting ready to leave by bus, furious, he found, happily drinking a cup of coffee, his girlfriend. Two tickets were sitting on the table, and Bendiš sat down to join her. After a couple minutes, the couple got up, past through the mob of press and players, to the departure gate. Bendiš whispered to Andrijaševi? before getting on the flight north for Christmas.

A couple weeks later, Bendiš got a lovely Christmas present from Michel Platini.

Lost to Porto, but the match was irrelevant with Dortmund's win
I hate Bayern. Please beat them for me :P
Haha! You got Bayern xD

HAJDUK 0-1 BAYERN
An exhausted Bendiš was walking down the street. He's never really up to it at 7 in the morning to be honest. The poor guy plays the piano until 1 or 2 during the weekends, and until midnight during the week, before coming at 7 to open the café. His girlfriend sleeps in a bit. To be fair, managing the stadium doesn't really require you to be at the stadium in the early hours. But she normally stopped by before Bendiš went to training, around 10, and they went together.

In any case, this morning, the eve before the Bayern match, Bendiš walked in, like he normally does. He had had a glorious four weeks in Switzerland, after qualifying back in December, and had done no transfer business whatsoever. Oh sure, a few of his players went out on loan, but besides a 15 year old Brazilian that was coming in two years, he did absolutely nothing.

And it felt good.

In any case. After skiing for more than a month, he stopped down in Nyon to catch up, and got a lovely Christmas present from Michel Platini. Bayern München. And, to be fair, Die Kaiser was very happy with that draw, not only because Hajduk was a small club, but that Bendiš had lost to the finalist three years in a row. Basically, if you were sent down to Split, you could book your ticket to San Siro the same day.

And Bendiš, looking for once to be pleasantly surprised, sighed, got up, and walked out, before driving back down to Split.

And this was the morning that Bayern looked to finish the job. They came down on the last flight of the night and were booked in some hotel in the city center. Bendiš couldn't remember which, but if he had to find out, it wouldn't take long. The city wasn't big, and even if were a regular group of 25 people, he would be able to figure out where they were... much less if it was Bayern München and their coaching staff.

As Bendiš walked up to his café, two people were sitting their already. The first thoughts through Bendiš's head were "who in God's name is up so early" before remembering that he was up this early as well, so he'd better not judge others. He recognized them after a couple seconds, even without his coffee.

"Karl, Lucien, welcome to Split"

It was, naturally Karl Rummenigge and Lucien Favre, who had come to bother him on his one morning off. Peachy.

Bayern did eventually win against a plucky Split side, Mario Ljubi?i? and Tomi Kiš had a chance apiece, but they both hit the post. It was Goran Blaževi? who was the hero, in the end, making all but one save.

Bendiš does need some sort of a win against this Bayern side. It's not that they're especially strong, to be honest, it's one of the weaker Bayern sides of the generation. No, it's just that it's Bayern... and no one is thrilled about going to Allianz.
