Author's Note: I will be using weekly accounting from now on, so it is easier to understand for the majority of the site. Now that I have settled in with a team, I feel comfortable making this adjustment now.

Ross McKinnon Returns

http://www.scottishfootballleague.com/docs/009_034__rossmckinnon__1360238207_standard.jpg
July 31, 2015 - Manager of FC Halifax Shylo Elliott was proud to announce that Scottish left back Ross McKinnon would be returning to The Shay for a second one-year loan stint with the Shaymen. Elliott said that he wanted to tie McKinnon to the club on a more permanent basis, but budget issues had prevented it, but that Macclesfield and McKinnon were all too happy to oblige him for a second loan spell.

Thoughts: This is a very good move for Halifax, strengthening the left back position at no cost. However, Smith Tiesse was projected as the first-choice left back for this season, and as he has made noise for playing time, he can't be happy at this new development. The Halifax manager will have a tough task keeping Tiesse happy, but if he can, this will be a great move.
Great signing, and he's wearing a Motherwell shirt :D

Season 4 Offseason Update - Friendlies

Matches

Alfreton 0 @ FC Halifax 2

FC Halifax 4 @ Eastwood 3

Stoke Reserves 1 @ FC Halifax 1

Barnsley 4 @ FC Halifax 1

Transfers and Other News

- July 31, 2015: Ross McKinnon loaned to Halifax until the end of the season.

Injuries

- Tom Beadling suffered a strained neck in the match against Eastwood and will be out 2-3 weeks.
- Lee Gregory suffered a pulled hamstring in the match against Barnsley and will be out 4-5 weeks.

Analysis

This is one of the best sets of friendlies I've ever managed, 2-1-1 record, some good results against teams that punch above our weight class, and the only bad result was against a League One team. A couple of injuries, but they're minor, and we have great defensive depth. The Gregory injury is more worrying since other than him we have no proven strikers, and little depth behind our starters.

Injuries

- August 18: Center back Phillip Furniss suffered a gashed leg in a U18 match and will be out 3-4 weeks.
- August 27: Center back Anton Swain suffered a pulled hamstring and will be out 4-5 weeks.

Standings

I thought we were going to get off to a good start, but it was merely an okay start. It was better than last year's August performance, though, and taking all the points we can get early is very important. One thing I noticed is that we score a lot of goals, but we are also goal-friendly and our attack is inconsistent, as you can see above. I need to make those great performances more consistent, while cutting down on the goals we concede.
On the other hand, Boston United is higher on the table than us, and that is unacceptable!
The regens look fantastic :)

Pretty average August, and it would be good/bad depending on what your expectations for the season are.

FC Halifax 1 @ Stalybridge 2

Droylsden 1 @ FC Halifax 2

FC Halifax 2 @ Corby 1

Barrow 1 @ FC Halifax 1

FC Halifax 1 @ Hednesford 3

Transfers and Other News

- September 18: FC Halifax has sold left back Curtis Strong to Evo-Stik Southern League side Ashton United for free. With McKinnon and Tiesse ahead of Strong on the depth chart, he wasn't going to get any play unless something drastic happened and this gets him out of the BSN and gets his 70 pound a week contract off our books.

Injuries

None this month, thankfully!

Standings

Seventh. Not a bad place to be early in the season, we still have a lot of fixtures left, we need to keep getting 3. That Hednesford result still baffles me.

When I think you're gonna go on a run you drop points lol. The king of mixed results. Still a decent position to be in the table

October 18: Lyle Hawkes' goal at Boston United makes him FC Halifax's youngest ever goalscorer at 16 years and 313 days.

Injuries

October 1: Defender Tom Beadling pulled a hamstring during a reserve match and will miss 4-5 weeks.

Standings

A pretty terrible month, we only won one match and we lost early in the FA Cup. I think one of the problems is the inexperience at forward, they have great potential but aren't ready for the senior level yet.

Craig Lynch Joins Halifax

http://www.7msport.com/news/upload_img/20120909/28_2012090911100111.jpg
Bury striker Craig Lynch, formerly of Premier League side Sunderland, has been loaned to Blue Square Bet North side FC Halifax until the end of the 2015 season. Manager Shylo Elliott said of Lynch, "We've been having some problems with our forwards. We have players with the potential to be great, but they're not there yet. We've also had problems with injuries. Lynch is very skilled for this level and I think he will cause some trouble in this league. He is a good fit for the Deep Lying Forward role, which is a necessary part of our tactic, but we lack a true one in the squad." Lynch was delighted to join on with a club that has plans for him at the senior level, and is excited to finally show what he can do.

Lee Gregory Shines In Rout of Barrow

http://www.yorkshireeveningpost.co.uk/webimage/1.5465030.1362392973!/image/2378039519.jpg_gen/derivatives/landscape_595/2378039519.jpg
November 7, 2015 - Veteran striker Lee Gregory was the linchpin in Halifax's 3-1 victory over Barrow in the FA Carlsberg Cup Third Qualifying Round, scoring a hat trick. Gregory's future with Halifax seems to be in doubt as the club feels he is on the decline, but once again he has shown his quality as a footballer by taking over a game. In the 32nd minute he headed in a cross from left back Ross McKinnon. The second goal was classic route one football, as Jonathan Wafula took in a long clearance from goalkeeper Harry Campbell and headed it on to Gregory, who knocked it in from just inside the penalty box right at the center of the goal in the 77th minute. Finally, in the 88th minute Damien Salt feeds a wonderful through ball to Gregory inside the penalty box and converts a point-blank shot into his third goal and hat trick.

Gregory was interviewed immediately after the game and said "It is a wonderful feeling to carry my team to a big win in a cup like this, and score a hat trick. Hopefully I get a chance to do that in the next round, too."

Carlsberg Trophy First Round Draw

http://www.harriers.co.uk/cms_images/other/fa-trophy-1213190-482100_478x359.jpg
FC Halifax's first round opponent in the FA Trophy tournament will be Conference National side Alfreton Town, who Halifax had beaten in a preseason friendly earlier this year. Alfreton have been drawn as the home team, so Halifax will have to travel to Alfreton to the match. Alfreton has 6 wins, 4 draws, and 10 losses in the league in 20 matches, and 20 goals scored and 23 conceded.
I really enjoy this story, very different to the average story. It's nice seeing the occasional low-league story :D

FC Halifax 1 @ Hyde 0

FA Carlsberg Trophy First Round: FC Halifax 2 @ Alfreton 1

Transfers and Other News

November 17: Assistant manager Danny Spiller earned his Continental A license.

Injuries

November 21: Midfielder Danny Gardner twisted his knee in the match against Alfreton and will miss 4 weeks.

Standings

It was a very good month for us, we won 5 matches, although only 3 were for the league. This really should have been a perfect month, though, and I was hoping to get my first perfect month. The Ilkeston result is going to sting, especially if we miss promotion or playoffs by 3 points.
