Liverpool seem raring to go, according to John Barnes. The manager praised his team's efforts during pre-season, especially during training. The first team trained three times a day, in the morning, afternoon and evening.
Barnes seems to know who isn't in his plans as the following first team players have been sent out on loan:
Reports say Liverpool tried to push for a transfer for most of these players, however nobody was interested in them. So instead they offered them on loan to free up the wage budget. Some of these players may have a future at the club, but it seems like players such as Downing and Henderson will be sold at the end of the season.
Meanwhile, Barnes has invested in youth as he has signed Gedion Zelalem, Xavi Quintilla and Gudjohnsen. Zelalem in particular is highly rated and is a very hot prospect and it will be interesting to see how he does at Anfield. Liverpool's first game of the season is at home to Norwich City.

Liverpool start off well
The Reds, Liverpool FC, have started off the league campaign very well with three wins in three. The team from Merseyside have been playing some nice attacking football, but have also been solid at the back throughout the month of August. Steven Gerrard in particular has been in superb form scoring 8 goals in three games, and amazing thing to do.
Liverpool kicked off the game the season with a win, as they defeated Norwich City 1-0 at Anfield, captain Steven Gerrard scoring the only goal. Gerrard did pick up an injury but it was nothing serious.
The second game of the season for Liverpool was against Swansea City at the Liberty Stadium, and once again Stevie G stole the show, this time scoring 4 goals, as Liverpool thumped Swansea City 4-1. A very good personal performance from Gerrard and a good team performance from Liverpool.
Liverpool's final game of the month, saw them face Torquay in the capital one cup 2nd round. On paper, this should have been an easy victory for Liverpool and indeed it was as they cruised to a 3-0 victory. Steven Gerrard scored a brace, while Iago Aspas picked up a goal. Liverpool have now qualified for the 3rd round of the capital one cup, where they will face Blackburn Rovers at Ewood Park.

The Liverpool player of the month is.... STEVIE G! The Liverpool captain has been in superb form recently, scoring 8 goals in 3 games form the centre of midfield. In addition to that, the midfielder has been a true role model on the pitch helping others out and being a very good captain, congratulations to him.
