Liverpool still on a high

Despite Liverpool being talked about for the wrong reasons over the past month or so, it didn't seem to affect the players as they put in some very good performances in the month of October. As we all know, The FA fined Liverpool for being involved in a brawl with United. If things couldn't get any worse, the Liverpool firm was involved in a huge fight with United's firm. The FA are yet to speak out about that incident that left many injured.

In the past, Liverpool have found West Brom tough to play, not only beat. However they managed to pick up a 2-1 victory over the baggies at Anfield. Luis Suarez gave them the lead in the 20th minute with a brilliant dribble before slotting the ball into the back of the net. Five minutes before that, Steven Gerrard picked up an injury and was forced off the pitch. New boy, Iago Aspas, scored in the 44th minute to give Liverpool a 2-0 lead going into the break. After the break West Brom looked refreshed and Dorrans made it 2-1 in the 60th minute. Unfortunately for West Brom, they couldn't pick up an equalizer as Liverpool got the three points.

Tottenham away is never an easy fixture, both sides were evenly matched going into this game. Speedster, Aaron Lennon gave Spurs the lead in the 11th minute with a nice finish. Jermain Defoe then made it 2-0 to Spurs 5 minutes later, Liverpool were having a nightmare. John Barnes must have really given his team a talking to, as just one minute after the ref blew his whistle for the start of the second half, Raheem Sterling, used his pace and beat a couple of defenders before scoring for Liverpool, a great goal, 2-1. Then it happened. Who else to rescue Liverpool when they're in trouble but Luis Suarez! The Uruguayan scored in the 87th minute, to gain a point for The Reds. This was a very heated match, with yellow cards being displayed often. Martin Kelly picked up a knock which forced him off, but it doesn't look serious. Final score, 2-2.

Next up, Liverpool had to play the so called "Rugby Team", Stoke City away. Now Stoke are known to be excessively aggressive and that was evident as Jose Enrique picked up an injury. Liverpool controlled the game, but to be honest, it was a very boring match. Stoke showed a bit of flair, much to the surprise of everyone watching the game but Liverpool were solid at the back. Captain, Steven Gerrard picked up the winner in the 87th minute, much to the delight of the away Liverpool fans.

Yet another fixture vs West Brom for Liverpool, this time in the capital one cup and away. This was a truly intriguing match to watch. Liverpool started off by far the better team but half time the score remained 0-0. In the second half a total of 5 goals were scored! Liverpool took the lead through Luis Suarez in the 51st minute. Gerrard doubled the lead, by scoring a penalty in the 71st minute before Aspas seemed to put the game to bed in the 82nd minute. Much to all neutral fans delight, West Brom weren't down and out just yet. Dorrans scored in the 86th minute, a goal that many thought was just a consolation goal. Veteran striker Anelka then scored 3 minutes later to make it 3-2! At this moment you could sense the nerves in the stadium, even if you were watching it on TV! Liverpool held out and have now gone through to the next round.

To sum up the month for Liverpool, they are still 2nd in the league but the gap has increased to 4 points, a bad thing for The Reds. Liverpool have qualified for the Capital One Cup quarter final where they will face Newcastle. Liverpool's next league game is against Hull City at Anfield.

Liverpool player of the month

The Liverpool player of the month is.....IAGO ASPAS! The new forward has been in fine form fir Liverpool since he joined, but this month in particular, he put in some solid performances. The Spaniard seems to be settling in well at Anfield.
Really like your monthly reviews bro, Keep it up! :)

Barnes racially abused once again

Liverpool manager, John Barnes, has revealed that he was racially abused my Stoke City fans as he was celebrating his teams late winner over them. Racism is something that unfortunately, is very common in today's game. There are various campaigns against racism such as the "kick it out" campaign.

Barnes was seen to remain calm on the pitch, but cameras do show him turning around in shock shortly after celebrating his teams goal. In a post match interview Barnes stated:

"I have no idea what I did wrong! My team had been playing well but had failed to break through the oppositions defence. We finally score in the 87th minute and I celebrate as if I was the one who scored the goal. Maybe I was a bit too dramatic but that shouldn't lead to racial abuse surely? This is something that must be kicked out of football, its ruining the game."

When Barnes was asked if he heard exactly what was said, he replied:

"Yeah I did actually. Someone shouted f*** you black c***, someone else shouted what the f*** is this n**** think he's doing and also there were a few monkey chants, my coaching staff heard it too and they weren't happy. They wanted to walk out the game but there was no point with about a minute left to play or so".

A journalist asked Barnes if he was planning to write to the FA about this incident, he replied:

"Well if I don't how will they ever no about it? How will we get rid of it and punish the people who did it. Of course I will contact the FA about this incident, its the professional thing to do. Me taking matters into my own hands won't help."

Stoke fans are known to be quite troublesome when it comes to provoking managers. The fans tend to dislike Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger, due to him describing them as a rugby team. Whenever they play Arsenal the fans were masks of Arsene Wenger on their faces.

The FA will most likely investigate this incident and if the culprits are found guilty, they most likely will be fined, banned from watching games and Stoke City itself could be fined as well. Racism should not be tolerated in football.
Nice :D
Dirty Stoke another nice twist here and keep up the results 2nd is a great position
