I want to put the past behind me
Earlier in the week we spoke with our star player, Luis Suarez, who's 10 match ban is now over. As we all know, Suarez was slapped with a ban from the FA for an infamous bite on Chelsea's defender Branislav Ivanovic. Luis has been banned before for a supposed racial slur towards Patrice Evra.
We spoke to Luis Suarez at Melwood about his future at the club and his aims for this season, here's the full interview:
S: Suarez, C: Claire
C: Luis, welcome to Liverpool TV!
S: Thank you.
C: Now you had a fairly good season last year. You were in good form scoring goals, but that wasn't the only reason why you were talked about...
S: Las season was good season for me, although at points my behaviour got the better of me, I regret that.
C: So, what do you think of the new manager and how Liverpool have started?
S: I like the new boss. As many of we know, he's a Liverpool legend. Fans love him, players respect him, he's a good coach. We start the season well, we sign players, they been doing well so far.
C: There has been some speculation and talk about you leaving the club, is your future at Anfield?
S: Media in England always talking rubbish. They say I don't love the club and I want to leave. That is a lie, I love this club very much but everybody think I hate the club and want to leave, no. I want to become a legend here and want to help the club.
C: Are you aware of any competition now Liverpool signed two strikers?
S: I not afraid. Last season the club sign Daniel (Sturridge), he a very good striker but we link up well. I want to link up well with the new signings too. I believe I still have a place in the team.
C: Very confident Luis, now if you have to say something to the fans and the club, what would it be?
S: I am sorry for my behaviour, it is not acceptable and I have learned from my mistakes. I love the club, I love the fans, I want to help this club I love. Also, I want to put the past behind me and focus on the future, I hope everyone else can do so too.
C: It was nice having you here Luis, thank you for your time.
S: Thank you.
As you can clearly see, Suarez is highly optimistic and seems to be tired of tolerating his own fans, as well as the media. Suarez's first match back will be in the capital one cup game vs Blackburn at Ewood Park. Hopefully he gets a good reception from the fans.
