Cahill joins Liverpool

England international, Gary Cahill has left Chelsea FC to join rivals Liverpool FC, much to the dismay of The Blues fans. Liverpool confirmed the signing on their website, just a day before the two teams face each other in a premier league fixture at Anfield. Cahill was signed for a fee of 10.75 million and he signed a 4 year contract which will see him earn 100 k p/w.

Cahill, just like Ozil, handed in a transfer request but Cahill's reason was different. The former Bolton captain felt that the club was underachieving as they're currently 5th in the league, however at one point, they were as low as 13th. He asked Chelsea if he could leave and they said yes, but nobody would have expected him to move to such a rival, especially when the two clubs will face each other twice in two weeks.

The defender is known to play his way out of trouble, and also to run with the ball a lot. During his time at Chelsea, it was evident that Cahill was a good defender and often Chelsea's best. On various occasions in big matches, Cahill would save Chelsea with last ditch tackles and great clearances. Perhaps Chelsea underrated him.

We couldn't get any word from Barnes on the signing but Liverpool legend, Jamie Carragher spoke to us about what he felt about Liverpool's latest signing:

"I think they've gotten themselves a real bargain there. 10.75 for arguably one of the best English defenders in the world? A good signing there, although many may think otherwise. He'll solidify that defence and add some more competition for the likes of Skrtel and Agger. Kolo is competition but he is mainly back up, Cahill will be hungry to start. I don't think Chelsea fans have a right to be angry with him after they underestimated him so much."

Also Sky sources tell us that Sebastian Coates, has been sold to Arsenal for 5 million. Barnes is said to have tried to ship him out in the summer transfer window but failed too. Sevilla and Arsenal both made bids and had their bids accepted. Coates opted to stay in England as he chose Arsenal.

Cahill is likely to feature against Chelsea tomorrow night alongside with new signing Ozil. Both will be hoping to make their full debuts for the club. For more information on the signing of Gary Cahill, you can get it here, on Sky sports news.

MOTD: Capital One Cup Semi Final 2nd Leg

Oh when The Reds go marching in!

The Reds continued their good run of form as they still remain unbeaten after playing 25 games in the premier league and in all other competitions. John Barnes will be pleased with how his team have been performing recently, even though they have drawn on many occasions.

Premier League

In the premier league, Liverpool have played a total of five games, won three and drawn two. The Reds first EPL fixture of the month was vs Norwich City, they cruised to a 4-0 victory thanks to goals from Sturridge, Aspas, Gaitan and Toure.

Next up for Liverpool was an away fixture at the Cardiff City Lesson. The Merseyside team dominated from the beginning and picked up the three points as they won 3-1. Iago Aspas scored a brace and Suarez scored a single goal. Another three points for Liverpool.

A fixture vs Chelsea is never an easy one. Liverpool would have been hoping they could use their home advantage to get the better of Chelsea, however they failed to do this as the game ended 0-0. Both teams had plenty of chances to score but couldn't convert.

The North West Derby is a rivalry everyone enjoys to watch. Recently, it hasn't been anticipated as much as it used to be. But with Liverpool's rise in form throughout the season, many fans were looking forward to the match. The last time these two teams met at Anfield, the match turned into War as there were scenes of violence between both the players and fans. Captain, Steven Gerrard picked up a second yellow card, to receive a red as the match ended in a goalless draw.

The last premier league of the month was certainly the most entertaining as Liverpool and West Brom drew 4-4 at The Hawthorns. At one point, Liverpool were 2-0 up but allowed The Magpies equalize and make 2-2. The Reds eventually restored their two goal led but once again allowed West Brom to equalize. You could see the anger and frustration in the Liverpool players.

The Reds are still top of the league but are stuggling to create a gap at the top, as City are just one point behind them.

Capital One Cup

The first leg of the Capital One Cup semi final saw Chelsea take on Liverpool at Stamford Bridge. Both teams were looking to gain an advantage going to the second leg. It was the Blues who fielded a stronger lineup and it was them who took the lead through a Christian Eriksen goal in the 8th minute. After that goal, it almost seemed like Chelsea were in complete control but Luis Suarez disagreed equalizing in the 23rd minute as the game ended 1-1.

The second leg was a whole lot more competitive. On aggregate it was 1-1 and a place in the final was up for grabs, clearly both teams wanted it as both teams fielded their strongest possible lineups. Unfortunately for Liverpool, Coutinho picked up an injury which forced him off as extra time was looking ever so likely and extra time it would be. Just two minutes after the first half of extra time started, Lukaku scored and sent the Blues fans absolutely mental! Liverpool were stunned and only the Chelsea fans could be heard. Would Liverpool's dream cup run come to an abrupt end? Cabaye didn't think so as he equalized just 6 minutes before the end of the second half of extra time. Penalties would determine the winner! You could sense the nerves in the stadium, Anfield was so quiet you could hear a pin drop. Branislav Ivanovic was the unlucky culprit as he was the one who had his penalty saved. Nicolas Gaitan stepped and scored the winning penalty, Liverpool won 5-4 on penalties.

FA Cup

Liverpool's only FA Cup fixture was in a 4th round match vs Blackpool at Bloomfield Road. Former Liverpool winger, Tom Ince would face his old team as Blackpool were hoping to pull off a huge upset. Fortunately for Liverpool, they would go on to thrash Blackpool 5-1. 18 year old Jordan Lussey scored a brace and so did Raheem Sterling. Glen Johnson would go on to score a single goal.

Liverpool player of the month

The Liverpool player of the month is......JOSE REINA! The shot-stopper has been in brilliant form in this month, putting in some stunning performances, especially vs Chelsea and United in the league.
SCHIZER! Ozil is going to be amazing!

It was time to go

Liverpool defender, Gary Cahill, has spoken to the public for the first time since leaving Chelsea to join their rivals. Cahill signed a 4 year contract with The Reds which see's him earn 100k p/w, he certainly took a pay rise. Chelsea agreed to sell Cahill for as little as 10.75 million.

Reports suggest that the English defender was unhappy at Chelsea, due to the club underachieving massively. The Blues were as low as 13th place at one point and are now currently 6th place, and some points of the champions league spot. Chelsea fans haven't been happy with the move, on twitter one Chelsea fan tweeted:

"@CFC4EVER: Cahill ditches us to join Liverpool cause of one little bad spell #JUDAS".

Another Chelsea fan was seen to tweet:

"@Chelsea124: Cahill, what a traitor".

However, a few Chelsea fans were seen to wish Cahill good luck at Liverpool, claiming he deserved better:

"@ChampionsOf3UROPE: If you ask me, I don't blame Cahill leaving. We underrated him and we've been underachieving, he deserves better. Thanks for everything and good luck Gary!"

We managed to get a statement from Gary Cahill, about his recent move to Liverpool:

"Firstly, I would like to thank Chelsea FC, for the few years I spent at the club. The fans always cheered me on, it was a great place to be. I felt that it was time to move on. The club were not doing very well, I dropped down the pecking order. That is the reason for me handing in a transfer request. Liverpool on the other hard are a club on the rise. They've been superb this season and they were the only club that wanted me. Already I feel like this is my home and I can't wait to help the club on its road to success."

The defender didn't play in the two clubs' latest fixture due to being cup tied. It will be interesting to see the kind of reception he gets when Liverpool face Chelsea at Stamford Bridge next. Will there be boos or will there be cheers?
HAHA Nice update I think we both know a few players with the title of #JUDAS :P
